1.Application of Artglass material in tooth aesthetical restoration

Objective To explore the application of Artglass material in aesthetical restoration. Methods A total of 2196 restoratio ns, including 1963 veneers and 233 crowns, were made for 335 patients, and clini cal results were examined and recorded one by one. The related problems were dis cussed. Results There was significant improvement on cosmetics in most of the 2196 restorations; 44 restorations in 21 patients were failed, re sulting in a failure rate of 2%. The failure cases were repaired with Chrisma ma terial or remade with Artglass material. Conclusion Artglass ma terial has satisfactory prosthesis effects in aesthetical restoration. The bondi ng process and occlusion adjustment are important and should be specially notice d.
2.Diagnosis and treatment of multiple nerve entrapment in the brachial plexus

Objective To discuss the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of multiple nerve entrapment in the brachial plexus and around anterior and middle scalene muscles in 179 cases.Methods From July 2003 to January 2006,179 outpatients in our department were diagnosed as thoracic outlet syndrome(TOS)with a variety of symptoms of the nerve entrapment in the brachial plexus and around anterior and middle scalene muscles.They were treated with drugs,local block injections,or operations,depending on their severity of the condition. Results Of the 128 cases who were followed up for one to 29 months,the symptoms were significantly relieved with drugs and massage in 55 cases,with local block injection in 58 cases of whom 24 received the second in- jection,with operation in 15 cases of whom 10 returned to work.One of the operated cases reported symptoms of injury to the long thoracic nerve which responded to further therapy.The visual analogue scale(VAS)evaluations after the first injection were one point in two cases,two points in 16 cases,three points in 20 cases,four points in 12 cases,five points in three cases,six points in three cases,and seven points in two cases.The VAS scores after the second injection were two points in five cases,three points in 16 cases,and four points in three cases. Conclusions The entrapment of the anterior anti middle scalene muscles can affect many nerves around the muscles,and cause clinical symptoms other than the TOS ones.The conservative treatment,such as drug,massage, and local block injection,can work well.When the non-operative methods do not work,operation can be consid- ered.
3.Radiation Therapy Applied in Extracerebral Large Paracavernous Sinus Cavernoma in The Middle Cranial Fossa: 8 Cases Report

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of radiation therapy for extracerebral large paracavernous sinus cavernoma.Methods8 cases with extracerebral large paracavernous sinus cavernomas treated with routine fractionated irradiation therapy alone were analyzed retrospectively with 1~4 year follow-up. ResultsThe volume of the tumor in all eight cases decreased in some degree, with ratio of 28.8% to 54.5%, after radiation therapy. ConclusionFor the extracerebral large cavernoma hard to excision, radiation therapy can decrease the tumor volume so that to wait for operation.

Objective To study effects of fluid resuscitation on thoracoabdominal injury combined with hemorrhagic traumatic shock.Method A total of 98 patients,who were treated in Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University from November 2004 to December 2006,were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were diagnozed according to Surgery(fifth edition).Patients were divided into delayed fluid resuscitation group(n= 51)and immediate fluid resuscitation group(n=47).Patients in delayed fluid resuscitation group were given with balanced salt solution for the body to maintain basic requirements.Patients in immediate fluid resuscitation group were rapidly administered with a lot of isotonic crystaUoid and(or)colloid solution after admission. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) is a key transcription factor on hypoxia responses in mammalian tissues. HIF-1 plays as a positive factor in solid tumor and leads to hypoxia-driven responses that enhance its downstream gene expression for tumor growth and survival. LXY6099 was obtained by the structural modification and optimization of manassantin A (MA) as a high potent HIF-1 inhibitor. Antitumor activity of LXY6099 was observed in this study. LXY6099 with an IC50 value of 2.46 x 10(-10) mol x L(-1) showed more sensitive inhibition activity to HIF-1 than that of MA detected by reporter gene assay (> 100 folds). It showed strong inhibition on the growth of human solid tumor cell lines. Furthermore, LXY6099 exhibited significant antitumor activity against established human tumor xenografts in nu/nu mice with treatment of MX-1 breast cancer. Thus, LXY6099 as a novel HIF-1 inhibitor could be further developed into anti-cancer agents.

6.Analysis on medication rules of state medical master Yan Zhenghua from prescriptions with citri reticulatae pericarpium based on data mining.

The prescriptions containing pericarpium citri reticulatae that built by Professor. Yan were collected to build a database based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) inheritance assist system. After analyzed by data mining, such as apriori algorithm, the frequency of single medicine, the frequency of drug combination, the association rules between drugs and core drug combinations can be get from the database. Through the analysis of 1 027 prescriptions with pericarpium citri reticulatae, these prescriptions were commonly used to treat stomach aches, cough and other syndromes. The most frequency drug combinations were "Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium-Poria", "Paeoniae Radix Rubra-Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium" and so on. The drug association rules that the confidence was 1 were "Glycyrrhizae Radix ex Rhizoma --> Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium", "Paeoniae Alba Radix-Cyperi Rhizoma --> Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium", "Poria --> Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium", and so on. The drugs in the prescriptions containing pericarpium citri reticulatae that built by Professor Yan mostly had the effects of regulating the flow of Qi and invigorate blood circulation, which reflected the clearly thought when making prescriptions.

7.Establishment of cerebral infarction models in beagle dogs by superselective catheterizationviathe vertebral basilar artery:cerebral arterial digital subtraction angiography manifestation

BACKGROUND:It is difficult to perform superselective catheterization of the internal carotid artery in dogs because of the large bending and spiral shape of the interal carotid artery before entering into the skul. At present, the dog models of cerebral infarction established by injecting autologous blood clots and gelatin spongevia the internal carotid artery are far from the perspective of pathological mechanism of human patients with cerebral infarction. Aortography can visualize the structure of cerebral vessels and is likely to provide a new condition for the establishment of dog models of acute cerebral infarction. OBJECTIVE:To explore the feasibility of establishing cerebral infarction models in beagle dogs by superselective catheterizationvia the vertebral basilar artery. METHODS: Five beagle dogs were divided into thrombus group (n=3) and control group (n=2). The beagle dogs in the thrombus group were subjected to digital subtraction angiography of the aortic arch, bilateral common carotid arteries and vertebral arteries in addition to femoral arterial catheterization. The 2.7F micro-catheter was inserted into the convergence zone of the left posterior communicating artery and the internal carotid artery through the vertebrobasilar artery. An autologous blood clot was injected into the convergence zone. The dogs in the control group were injected with appropriate amount of contrast medium. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS:Through angiography of the left and right common carotid artery of five dogs, thick external carotid arteries (10/10) and their branches were clearly displayed, however, only five (5/10) internal carotid arteries were dimly present. A spiral vascular loop formed in the internal carotid artery with a smal-sized diameter. Through antiography of the left and right vertebral arteries (10/10) angiography, vertebral basilar artery, the circle of “Wilis”, bilateral posterior cerebral arteries, bilateral middle cerebral arteries and bilateral anterior cerebral arteries were clearly displayed, al these contribute to insertion of microcatheter into the convergence zone of the left posterior communicating artery and the internal carotid artery through the vertebrobasilar artery. High signal intensity of the left temporal lobe was shown on 3-hour and 6-hour diffusion weighted images.The results demonstrate that the beagle dog models of acute cerebral infarction can be successfuly established by injecting autologous blood clots into the left middle cerebral artery through a microcathter insertedvia the vertebrobasilar artery, which provides a new method of precisely occluding the middle cerebral artery of beagle dogs by catheterization.

9.Research on pericellular matrix properties for chondrcytes.

Pericellular matrix (PCM) is a narrow tissue region surrounding chondrocytes, which "chondron" with its enclosed cells. A number of studies suggested that PCM is rich in proteoglycans, collagen and fibronectin, and plays an important role in regulating microenvironment of chondrocytes. Direct measures of PCM properties through micropipette aspiration technique showed that PCM was different from mechanical property of chondrocytes and nature extracellular matrix. However, the function of PCM is not clear, and need further study.
