AIM: To explore the effect of hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy for severe corneal edema after cataract surgery.METHODS: Totally 68 patients (68 eyes) with severe corneal edema after phacoemulsification were selected from January 2014 to December 2015 in our hospital, who were aged 53-80(64.45±4.24), including 30 males and 38 females.According to different treatment, they were divided into treatment group (34 cases) given conventional therapy + hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy, the control group (34 cases) given conventional treatment + hypertonic sugar eyes drops.Visual acuity and corneal situation were observed during the treatment.RESULTS: Corneal edema fade time of treatment group was 11.62+0.53d, that of control group was 15.23±0.62d, the difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05).Preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and corneal endothelial cell count had no significantly difference between the two groups while the corneal endothelial cell count were significantly different compared with postoperative of the two groups (P<0.05).At 7d after treatment, the BCVA and corneal endothelial cell count had significantly difference between the two groups (P<0.05), which did not have significant difference at 1mo after treatment (P>0.05).The effective rates of the two groups was significantly different (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy is effective for severe corneal edema after cataract surgery.

[Objective]To explore the roles of TIDC(tumor infiltrating dendritic cell)and TIL-T(tumor infiltrating T lymphocyte)in tumor immunity of EBV-associated gastric carcinoma(EBVaGC)and their clinical significance.[Methods]TIDC and TIL-T in EBVaGC(n=49)and EBVnGC(EBV-negative gastric carcinoma)(n=20)were detected by immunohistochemistry method and then their subtypes and their relationships with clinical and pathological factors were analyzed.[Results]Mild infiltration was detected in 29 of 49(59.2%)EBVaGCs and 18 of 20(90%)EBVnGCs,while marked infiltration of TIDC was detected in 20 of 49(40.8%)EBVaGCs and 2 of 20(10%)EBVnGCs.And the difference between the two groups was significant (P=0.013).The number of TIL-T in EBVaGC was hisher than that in EBVnGC(P=0.017),and most of them were CTLs.The number of TIL-T was positively correlated with that of TIDC(r=0.386,n=49,P=0.006).The degree of TIL-T infiltration in EBVaGC had negative relationship with the lymph node metastasis(P＜0.001),while TIDC had no relationship with the clinical features.[Conclusion]TIDC and TIL-T may play important roles in the tumor immunity of EBVaGC;TIDC may contribute to the TIL-T recruitment in EBVaGC.

Aim To investigate the inhibitory effects and mechanism of action of isoliensinine (IL) on the proliferation of porcine coronary arterial smooth muscle cells (CASMCs) induced by phenylephrine (Phen) and its mechanisms of action. Methods MTT assay, immunohistochemical method and Western blotting were adopted. Results IL (0.03-3 μmol·L-1) could inhibit the CASMCs proliferation induced by Phen (0.1 μmol·L-1) in a concentration-dependent manner. IL (0.1 μmol·L-1) antagonized Phen-induced overexpression of PDGF-β and bFGF from 0.545±0.026 and 0.47±0.03 to 0.458±0.019 and 0.376±0.017 (P<0.01, P<0.01). IL (0.1 μmol·L-1) also decreased c-fos, c-myc and hsp70 overexpression induced by Phen from 0.57±0.04, 0.44±0.04 and (173±36)% to 0.46±0.05, 0.372±0.021 and (115±35)% respectively (P<0.01, P<0.01, P<0.01). Conclusion IL exerted antiproliferative effect on CASMCs induced by phenylephrine, and its mechanisms were related to decrease the overexpression of growth factors (PDGF-β, bFGF), protooncogene (c-fos, c-myc) and hsp70.

Objective To evaluate the effect of YunKe on bone metabolism of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods A total of 108 RA patients were divided into YunKe group (n = 72), non-YunKe group (n = 36), and 54 controls. The bone mineral densities (BMDs) of the wrists, hips and lumbar spines were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Moreover , the expression of cross-linked N-telopeptides of type I collagen (NTX) in the serum was detected for statistically analyzing the difference between YunKe group and non-YunKe group. Results In RA group, the BMDs of wrist, hip and lumbar spine declined compared with that of control group (P < 0.001, respectively). In YunKe group, the BMDs of wrist, hip and lumbar spine after 6 months all were improved with statistically significance (P < 0.01, respectively); The differences also were statistically significant when compared with those in non-YunKe group (P < 0.01, respectively). In YunKe group, NTX level in the serum declined after 3 months of the treatment. The difference was statistically significant when compared with that in non-YunKe group (P < 0.001), but the difference disappeared 6 months later. Conclusions The BMD of wrist joints is low and declines in RA patients significantly. The treatment withYunKe improves the BMDs of the wrist , hip and lumbar spine and decreases the serum NTX. This study proposed that YunKe could inhibit the chronic loss of bone mass induced by RA.

Background: Radiation pneumonitis is one of the most common complications during radiotherapy of thoracic tumors. It impacts the quality of life of the patients and has life-threatening danger. However, there is a lack of drugs for prevention and treatment of this disease. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Liangxue Jiedu Huoxue Decoction, a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, in prevention of radiation pneumonitis. Design, setting, participants and interventions: A prospective randomized clinical study was conducted. A total of 100 patients diagnosed with lung cancer from Department of Radiotherapy, Chinese PLA General Hospital, who were planning to receive radiotherapy, were randomly assigned into treatment group and control group, with 50 patients in each group. In the treatment group 3 cases were lost to follow-up and one case was excluded, while in the control group 6 cases were lost to follow-up and 2 cases were excluded. Patients in the treatment group were treated with Liangxue Jiedu Huoxue Decoction in addition to radiotherapy, while patients in the control group were treated with radiotherapy alone. Main outcome measures: The incidence rates of radiation pneumonitis in the two groups were calculated. Acute radiation injury scoring criteria by Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), clinical-radiographic-physiologic (CRP) score system, and Karnofsky Performance Status Scale (KPS) were used to evaluate the status of the patients. Results: The incidence rate of radiation pneumonitis was lower in the treatment group than in the control group (13.04% versus 33.33%, P<0.05). According to the RTOG scale, the extent of lung injury was improved in the treatment group as compared with that in the control group (P<0.05). The CRP score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The KPS score in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Liangxue Jiedu Huoxue Decoction can decrease the incidence rate of radiation pneumonitis, reduce the extent of the lung injury, alleviate the symptoms of radiation pneumonitis, and improve life quality of the patients.

We herein reported a 27-year-old woman with a right renal mass for two years. She underwent laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Immunohistochemical examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis of solitary fibrous tumor by revealing its positive staining for cluster of differentiation (CD)34, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA), B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and CD99 in the tumor cells. No adjuvant treatment was carried out. The patient was in good health without local recurrence or metastasis during 2 years of follow-up. Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for renal solitary fibrous tumor is an alternative treatment to radical nephrectomy. It can provide a good outcome. However, further follow-up and more cases of renal solitary fibrous tumor treated with laparoscopic partial nephrectomy are necessary to compare the oncological outcome with radical nephrectomy.

To analyze and compare the protective effects of active components in different ethyl acetate extracts (EAEEPs) from Eclipta prostrate, in order to study the comparison of materials bases protecting normal human bronchial epithelial (NHBE) cells. The MTT assay was taken to compare the protective effect of different EAEEPs on cigarette smoke extracts (CSE) -induced NHBE cells. The ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) was applied to analyze the content of phenolic acid, coumaric grass ether and flavonoid in EAEEPs. According to the results, all of the eight EAEEPs (0-200 mg x L(-1)) showed certain protective effect on NHBE cells, with statistical difference. Specifically, the total mass of EAEEP VII (89.15 mg x L(-1)) and EAEEP VIII (57.44 mg x L(-1)), which showed the strongest activity, was not the highest, while EAEEP III (132.25 mg x L(-1)) displayed the highest total mass. In the combination with the "component structure" theory, the analysis showed a significant difference in the mass structure among phenolic acid, coumaric grass ether and flavonoid in EAEEP VIII and EAEEP VIII, which were 1.0: 1. 0: 0.5 and 1.0: 1.9: 0.8, respectively. The results suggested a specific optimal "component structure" relationship may exist in EAEEP, which could provide reference for the material base study and quality control.

However, the material basis is vague for the lack of basic research, the value of Chinese medicine is hard to reflect for the low technology level and product quality is difficult to maintain for the quality control indicator selection is incorrect. Chinese medicine Jinfukang oral liquid is a typical product of Chinese medicines. Jinfukang oral liquid was selected as a model drug in this article. Based on the overall concept and systems theory of traditional Chinese medicine, the research idea and technology system for modern Chinese medicine secondary exploitation was formed. The system includes three parts, for the first, basic research to make clear the components structure and their action mechanism, for the second, technology upgraded to optimize process and improve the product quality, for the last, exploring the associated industry to form the industrial chain. The research ideas and technology system based on the material basis research and development of modern Chinese medicine, guided with component structure in Chinese medicine and aimed clinical needs. This research ideas and technology system provides strategies and methods for the development of modern Chinese medicine secondary exploitation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the risk factors for contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after endovascular therapy in patients with peripheral arterial diseases and to evaluate the conformance of serum cystatin C (Cys C) and serum creatinine in diagnosis of CIN. Methods In this prospective,single center study,in-hospital patients with peripheral arterial diseases undergoing non-emergency endovascular therapy from July 2010 to April 2011 in our hospital were enrolled.CIN was defined asScr increase ≥25％ after angiography.General clinical characteristics and blood biochemical parameters were compared between the non-CIN and CIN groups.Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine risk factors.Changes compared to baseline level in serum creatinine and Cys C at predefined time-points were evaluated.Results A total of 367 patients were enrolled in the study.The proportions of patients with diabetes mellims and treatment with diuretics before angiography,contrast-media dosage were significantly higher in the CIN group than those in non-CIN group (P＜0.05,＜0.01,＜0.01).Logistic regression analysis indicated that diabetes mellitus,contrast-media dosage were risk factors for CIN.Several serum Cys C increase criteria at 24 hours after contrast media exposure all had low sensitivity for predicting a Scr increase ≥25％.Only small overlapped regions were found in Venn diagram between several increasing criteria according to serum Cys C and serum creatinine criterion. Conclusions Diabetes mellitus,contrast-media dosage are independent risk factors for CIN.The results of several increasing criteria according to serum Cys C in evaluating contrast-induced AKI are not coincident well with that of serum creatinine criterion.
