Objective To summarize the current value of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for potentially resectable gastric cancer. Methods The recent 5-year literatures searched through the PubMed with the key words:stomach neoplasm, gastric cancer/carcinoma,neoadjuvant therapy/chemotherapy and preoperative therapy/chemotherapy as well as the relevant reports presented in the ASCO Annual Meeting in 2007 and 2008 were analyzed. The present status of NAC for advanced gastric cancer was summarized, the necessity and feasibility were evaluated, and the patients features for selecting, the predictors for response, the mainly existing problems and development trend of NAC were analyzed. Results At present, there were 7 randomized control trails(RCT) published, and among them 3 were phase Ⅲ.It was safe, effective and feasible to most of trails in NAC for gastric cancer. However,it was still little to obtain survival benefit for NAC RCT,and short of randomized trial comparing strict preoperative chemotherapy to surgery alone or perioperative chemotherapy to surgery plus adjuvant chemotherapy. It remained lots of problems such as how to select the appropriate patients, the effective induced regimes and the predicted factors, the evaluated indices for response. Conclusion NAC is a safe, feasible and efficient method to potentially resectable gastric cancer, but strict phase Ⅲ randomized trials are needed. In the future, substantial improvements of treatment outcome will likely depend on the novel drugs and molecular biological targeted therapies.

Objective: To study the correlation between the expression of CD44s, CD44v6 and theclinicopathological characters of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) so as to analyze the role of them inoccurrence and progression of LSCC. Method:Expression of CD44 and CD44v6 in 46 cases of LSCC and 20 casesof adjacent normal tissues was inspected with immunohistochemical SP method. Result:The expression of CD44sincreased significantly in lymphnode metastasis group (94.4%) and stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ group (96.2%),but decreasedin non-lymphnode metastasis group (67.9%) and stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ group (55.0%). The expression of CD44v6 waslower (21.7%),which wasn′t associated with any clinicopathological characters. Conclusion:The role of CD44and CD44v6 in carcinoma maybe dependent on the species, type of carcinoma, and the expression of CD44s maybe a biologic marker to evaluate metastasis of LSCC.

Objective To investigate the changes and clinical significance of serum total and high molecular weight adiponectin (HMW APN) levels in type 2 diabetic patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods Serum levels of total adiponectin and HMW APN were measured by ELISA,in 58 type 2 diabetic patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (T2DM with NAFLD group),59 type 2 diabetic patients without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (T2DM group),and 55 control subjects with normal glucose tolerance and without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NC group). Results (1) Alanine transaminase and total cholesterol levels were significantly higher in T2DM with NAFLD group than those in NC group(P<0.01),while body mass index (BMI),aspartate aminotransferase, triglyceride (TG),and fasting insulin were also significantly increased (P<0.05 or P< 0.01),and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) were significantly decreased compared with those in NC and T2DM groups (P<0.01).(2) Total adiponectin,HMW APN,and the ratio of HMW APN to total adiponectin in T2DM group were lower than those in NC group.Total adiponectin and HMW APN levels in T2DM with NAFLD group were significantly lower than those in T2DM group(P<0.01).(3) Regression analysis showed that homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR),TG,and HDL-C levels were independent predicting factors for total adiponectin and HMW APN levels.TG and BMI were independent risk factors for T2DM complicated with NAFLD,while total adiponectin and HMW APN levels were the protective ones (OR =0.701,0.489,respectively).Conclusions Hypoadiponectinemia may partially play an important role in the development and progression of NAFLD in T2DM.

Modern Clinical Nursing 2016;15(1):1-4
Objective To investigate the level and relationships of posttraumatic growth (PTG) and psychological distress among patients with prostate cancer. Method Totally 116 patients with prostate cancer involved in the investigation by a self-designed demographic questionnaire, posttraumatic growth inventory (PTGI) and distress thermometer (DT). Results The total score of PTGI was (53.12 ± 13.51), at a low level, and the score of DT was (4.32 ± 2.59), at a medium level. The score of DT was negatively correlated to the scores of PTG and its dimensions (all P<0.05). Conclusions Patients with prostate cancer show a low level of PTG and a medium level of psychological distress and they are negatively related . Therefore , nurses should take measures to reduce the patients psychological distress and then improve their PTG level.
