Objective To summarize the current value of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for potentially resectable gastric cancer. Methods The recent 5-year literatures searched through the PubMed with the key words:stomach neoplasm, gastric cancer/carcinoma,neoadjuvant therapy/chemotherapy and preoperative therapy/chemotherapy as well as the relevant reports presented in the ASCO Annual Meeting in 2007 and 2008 were analyzed. The present status of NAC for advanced gastric cancer was summarized, the necessity and feasibility were evaluated, and the patients features for selecting, the predictors for response, the mainly existing problems and development trend of NAC were analyzed. Results At present, there were 7 randomized control trails(RCT) published, and among them 3 were phase Ⅲ.It was safe, effective and feasible to most of trails in NAC for gastric cancer. However,it was still little to obtain survival benefit for NAC RCT,and short of randomized trial comparing strict preoperative chemotherapy to surgery alone or perioperative chemotherapy to surgery plus adjuvant chemotherapy. It remained lots of problems such as how to select the appropriate patients, the effective induced regimes and the predicted factors, the evaluated indices for response. Conclusion NAC is a safe, feasible and efficient method to potentially resectable gastric cancer, but strict phase Ⅲ randomized trials are needed. In the future, substantial improvements of treatment outcome will likely depend on the novel drugs and molecular biological targeted therapies.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of Schizandrae Lignanoid (SCL) on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in hyperlipidemic rats and its mechanisms and provide theoretical basis and experiment foundation for treatment of myocardial ischemia complicated with hyperlipidemic disease with SCL in the future. Methods After hyperlipidemic rat models were set up by oral administration of high lipid emulsion, the rats were divided into seven groups: control group, sham group, model group,SCL 60,20,5 mg?kg-1 groups and 200 mg?kg-1 CDT group. After reperfusion, the blood samples taken from the ventricles were assayed for blood lipid;MPO activities of ischemic myocardium were measured;Infarct area of left ventricles was measured by Evens blue-TTC staining, and myocardial pathological changes were also observed. Results Compared with model group, the myocardial infarct area/ventricle area ratios and MPO activities in SCL 60,20,5 mg?kg-1 groups decreased (P

Objective To observe the effect of using Ambroxol hydrochloride(AM)to wash respiratory way to treat neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(NRDS) in ventilator,to explore dynamic changes of respiratory mechanics after using AM to wash respiratory way. Methods Thirty premature infants were chosen according with diagnosis criterion, which were randomly divided into 2 groups: NS group(n=15);AM group(n=15).Both NS and AM groups were treated with Babylog 8 000 ventilator, and routine treating and nursing,NS group was given for washing respiratory way in NS group, whereas AM was done in AM group.Pulmonary compliance(C),time constant(Tc),respiratory resis-tance(R),C20/C and minute volume(MV)were observed in both groups.Blood gas was routinely checked after 1 h ventilation treatment, and X ray was shot after 24 h.Results Pulmonary C significantly increased in weaning than that of beginning ventilation(P0.05),MV significantly increased in group AM than NS,respectively[(0.56?0.12) L/min and(0.35?0.11) L/min(P0.05).But ventilator-treating-time was markedly shorter in group AM than NS,respectively(60.52?6.23) h and(98.21?5.82) h(P

Objective To explore whether hyperbaric oxygen could enhance the effects of the transplanted stem cell on treating myocardial infarction rats. Methods A total of 70 Sprague-Dawley (SD) Rats was randomly divided into four groups, sham operated, acute myocardial infarction (AMI),mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) (Stem Cell Transplanting),and hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) + MSCs group, respectively.Myocardial infarction rat model was established, hyperbaric oxygen treatment was carried out every day at the first to 30 day after AMI.Human umbilical cord Wharton jelly mesenchyme cell was transplanted at the third day after AMI.The densities of polymorphonuclear neutrophils and macrophages in the infracted border zones and in the infarcted area of heart were determined with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. The cardiac function was assessed with M-mode transthoracic echocardiography,in vivo. Results (1)Compared to MSCs group, the stem cell proliferation and survival rates were increased significantly at the forth week (276.6 ±73.8 versus 20.5 ± 12.3,P <0.01).(2)Compared to the AMI and MSCs groups, the infracted area and the number of inflammatory cell infiltration were significantly reduced in HBO alone and MSCs + HBO groups.(3) Compared to the AMI group, the cardiac function was significantly improved at the different degree in the other three groups;among these groups, cardiac function was significantly improved in the MSCs + HBO group (P <0.01),except for the volume of end-dilation (P >0.05).Conclusions Hyperbaric oxygenation could significantly promote the proliferation and survival rate of stem cells, and improve the cardiac function. Thus further enhance the effect of the transplanted stem cell on treating the infarcted heart.

Objective: To study the correlation between the expression of CD44s, CD44v6 and theclinicopathological characters of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) so as to analyze the role of them inoccurrence and progression of LSCC. Method:Expression of CD44 and CD44v6 in 46 cases of LSCC and 20 casesof adjacent normal tissues was inspected with immunohistochemical SP method. Result:The expression of CD44sincreased significantly in lymphnode metastasis group (94.4%) and stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ group (96.2%),but decreasedin non-lymphnode metastasis group (67.9%) and stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ group (55.0%). The expression of CD44v6 waslower (21.7%),which wasn′t associated with any clinicopathological characters. Conclusion:The role of CD44and CD44v6 in carcinoma maybe dependent on the species, type of carcinoma, and the expression of CD44s maybe a biologic marker to evaluate metastasis of LSCC.
