2.Effect of Bryan disk replacement on adjacent level: Three-year follow up
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(26):-
BACKGROUND: Although the clinical effect of cervical disk replacement in short term has been ascertained, but the middle and long term result is not known, especially for the adjacent level. OBJECTIVE: To observe clinical result and effect of cervical disk replacement on adjacent level in middle and long term. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Retrospective case analysis was performed at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital from December 2003 to March 2005. PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-three patients (aged 35-73 years) undergoing cervical disc replacement were followed up for 3 years. Of them, 25 patients received one-level disk replacement, and 8 received two-level disk replacement. METHODS: The clinical results and imaging before and after operation were compared. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Clinical indexes including JOA grade, Odom’s grade, NDI, SF-36; X-ray: Kellgren X-ray grade, disk cervical height, disk motion, Pfirrmann disk grade, sigittal diameter of spinal cord, and compression of the spinal cord. RESULTS: The point of JOA is 13.62?2.31 before operation, 15.75?1.55 after operation; the differences were significant (P=0.000). For Kellgren X-ray, 10 levels occurred degeneration above the disk replacement level, accounted for 33% (P=0.004), and 9 levels developed degeneration below the disk replacement level, accounted for 32% (P=0.011). No obvious changes in imaging indexes were observed before and after surgery. CONCLUSION: The clinical outcome of cervical disk replacement is good in middle-term follow up. Some adjacent level degeneration may occur after cervical disk replacement, and the degeneration type is osteophyte formation in the adjacent level. This kind of adjacent level degeneration does not affect the clinical outcome in middle term follow-up.

Practical Oncology Journal 2014;(3):280-284
Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has high incidence rate, recurrence rate after surgecal treat-ment,as well as fatality rate in China .HCC is not sensitive to radiotherapy or chemotherapy and no effective treat-ment is available for HCC patients at advanced stage .Sorafenib is the first effective molecularly targeted drug for the treatment of HCC,which represents a milestone in the treatment of HCC .However,it also shows drug resist-ance during clinical application .Therefore,it is important to investigate the mechanism of drug resistance and its molecular markers for HCC .In this review ,we summarize the current status of the studies in these fields .

ObjectiveTo evaluate the expression of interleukin-1 β ( IL-1β) ; interlenkin-8 ( IL-8 ) ; tumor necrosis factor-α,(TNF-α) in induced sputum in different stages of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heath smoking controls.Methods90 healthy smoking controls and 100 stable COPD patients were enrolled. The levels of IL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum were detected by radioimmunoassay.ResultsThe levels of IL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α in stable COPD patients were much higher than those in healthy smoking controls (P =0.000).There are an inverse correlation between FEV1 and levels of IL-1 β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum (r=-0.678,-0.752,-0.615,all P<0.05).ConclusionIL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α may play important roles in the mechanism of airway inflammation in stable COPD.The levels of IL-1 β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum may be a marke of severity of airway inflammation in stable COPD.

This paper reported a new method of Armillaria mellea isolation-Gastrodia elata tissue isolating. Compared with normal isolating method-rhizomorph isolating method, it showed that the success rate of new method (78% ) was higher than the rhizomorph isolating method (16% ) , besides this, the new method was easier, and growth characteristic of obtained strain was superior to that obtained from rhizomorph isolating method.

To develop a LC-MS/MS method for the determination of protocatechuic acid, protocatechuic aldehyde, salvianolic acid A, salvianolic acid B, cryptotanshinone and tanshinone II(A) in rat plasma and brain. The plasma and brain samples were precipitated with ethyl acetate, then were separated on an Agilent eclipse plus-C18 column (2.1 mm x 50 mm, 3.5 microm) using acetonitrile (consisting of 0.1% formic acid) and water (consisting of 0.1% formic acid) as mobile phase in gradient elution mode. The mass spectrometer was operated under both positive and negative ion mode with the ESI source, and the detection was performed by MRM. The transition of 154.3/153.1 m/z for protocatechuic acid, 137.3/108 m/z for protocatechuic aldehyde, 493.0/295.2 m/z for Salvianolic acid A, 718.0/520.0 m/z for salvianolic acid B, 321.4/152.3 m/z for chloramphenicol, 297.4/254.3 m/z for cryptotanshinone, 295.5/249.3 m/z for tanshinone II(A) and 285.2/154.0 m/z for Diazepam. The calibration curves in the range of 0.625-1 000 microg x L(-1) for protocatechuic acid and protocatechuic aldehyde, 1.25-1 000 microg x L(-1) for salvianolic acid A, 2.5-1 000 microg x L(-1) for salvianolic acid B, 0.15-1 000 microg x L(-1) for cryptotanshinone, 0.625-1 000 microg x L(-1) for tanshinone II(A) are with good linearityin rat plasma and brain. The analysis method is sensitive, simple, and suitable enough to be applied in the pharmacokinetic study of the 6 main components. Animal testing gives the lgBB of the drugs and further studies of the 6 components cross the blood-brain barrier can be carried out.

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Bcl-2,NF-κB and C-myc in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) tissue. Methods Sixty-seven cases of DLBCL tissue were selected as the observation group, and contemporaneous 21 cases of lymphoid reactive hyperplasia(RH) tissues as the control group. The levels of Bcl-2,NF-κB,C-myc protein expression in tissues were detected by the S-P method. Then their relationship with the clinicopathological features of DLBCL was analyzed. Results Th epositive expression rates of Bcl-2,NF-κB and C-myc protein in DLBCL tissues were 58.21%,62.69% and 77.61% respectively, which in RH tissue were 0.00%,19.05% and 23.81% respectively, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the Bcl-2 protein expression had no significant correlation with the age, gender, disease location, serum LDH level and extranodal sites in DLBCL patients (P>0.05),was significantly correlated with clinical stage and IPI grade (P<0.05);the NF-κB protein expression had no significant correlation with age and gender in the patients with DLBCL (P>0.05),was significantly correlated with clinical stage, location,IPI grade and serum LDH level (P<0.05);the C-myc protein expression had no significant correlation with age, gender, disease location, serum LDH level and extranodal sites (P>0.05),was significantly correlated with clinical stage and IPI grade (P<0.05).Bcl-2 had stronger positive correlation with NF-κB expression in DLBCL tissues (r=0.671,P<0.05),and had no correlation with C-myc in DLBCL tissue (P>0.05),NF-κB and C-myc expression in DLBCL tissues showed weak positive correlation (r=0.293,P<0.05).Conclusion Bcl-2,NF-κB,C-myc expressions are closely correlated with the clinical stage and IPI grade of DLBCL and can serve as the reference indicators for evaluating DLBCL prognosis.
