OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect and mechanism of Scutellaria Baicalensis Stem-leaf Total Flavonoid (SSTF) on lipid metabolism in hyperlipidemic rat.
METHODOn the basis of establishing hyperlipidemia rat model, blood lipids, lipid metabolic enzyme, antioxidative capacity were investigated after 30 days feeding of fatty emulsion.
RESULTSSTF significantly reduced the serum TC, TG, LDL-C, ApoB concentration and increased HDL-C and ApoAI levels, improved the activity of lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT). SSTF was shown to decreased MDA content in both serum and liver, increased serum SOD activity.
CONCLUSIONSSTF could remarkably modulate the lipid metabolic disorder in hyperlipidemic rats, and has a certain regulating function on lipoprotein, inferring that it could reduce the occuring of atherosclerosis. The mechanism of regulating lipid metabolism might be related with the increasing activity of LCAT and antioxidative capacity.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the possibility to enhance the proliferation of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) in a delayed fat flap in rabbits.
METHODSA delayed fat flap was formed in one side of inguinal region of a rabbit. 21 days after operation, the fat tissues at the delayed flaps and at the unoperated side were harvested and digested with 0.25% collagenase and sieved. The cell suspensions were centrifuged. The cells were obtained from tissue precipitate after centrifugation. The expression rates of the surface marker (CD29, CD44, CD14 and CD45) were measured by FCM and compared between the experimental and control groups.
RESULTSExpression rates of CD29 and CD44 were higher in the delayed fat flap (74.06% and 90.74%) than in the contralateral fat tissue (62.88% and 77.54%, P < 0.05), while those of CD14 and CD45 were lower in the delayed fat flap (57.66% and 4.84%) than in the contralateral fat tissue (72.10% and 75.82%, P < 0.05 and P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSTissue hypoxic ischemia such as fat tissue in a delayed fat flap can promote proliferation of ASCs. It indicates that tissue in the delayed flap may be transplanted with better survival rate. The ischemia pretreatment of fat tissue may become a new method for fat transplantation.

Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine 2008;42(8):588-591
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the Chinese language version of the appraisal questionnaire (AQ) for HIV/AIDS (HIV positive persons).
METHODSThe scale was translated and adapted into Chinese and then reversely translated into English. The internal consistency reliability, structural validity, differential validity and predictive validity were evaluated by prevalence study in the city of Guangzhou.
RESULTSCronbach's alpha coefficient achieved a value ranged from 0.530 to 0.886, with satisfied predicted validity. The regression equation accounted for 24.4% of variance in anxiety, and all factors of cognition accounted for 11.4% of variance, among all factors, only factor one had significant influence on anxiety (t=3.838, P<0.001); the regression equation accounted for 38.6% of variance in depression, and all factors of cognition accounted for 26.0% of variance. Factor I and factor II had significant influence on depression (t=5.707, P<0.001; t = -2.876, P<0.01). The results of differential validity suggested the mean scores of factor III were lower in the group with lower education level and monthly salary. Meanwhile, the persons with monthly salary under 300 yuan RMB had higher mean score of factor I, and the persons with lower academic degree had lower mean score of factor II. The principal-components factor analysis yielded three factors with common factor larger than 1.0, which were threat, challenge and controllability; and the three factors accounted for 62.23% of the total variance.
CONCLUSIONThe AQ Chinese version attained satisfactory reliability and validity. Even considering some essential explanatory words for the Chinese version, the scale might be attempted to use in the population with HIV in our country.

OBJECTIVEThe purpose of this study is to study the sealing ability and the furcal appearance of repairing subpulpal wall perforation with resinous inlay.
METHODSFifty newly extracted human molars were randomly divided into three experiment groups (group A, group B, group C, 15 teeth each) and one control group (5 teeth). In experiment groups, perforations were made perpendicularly to the center of the pulp chamber floor. Perforations of group A and B were repaired with resinous inlay and sealed by AH Plus sealer and luting glass-ionomer, respectively. Perforations of group C were directly repaired using light-cure composite resin. Perforations were not made in five teeth of control group. The furcal appearances were evaluated under stereomicroscope after repairing. Microleakage was measured by glucose oxidase detection.
RESULTSThe fineness rate of furcal appearances with resinous inlay repairing were 83.3%, while the fineness rate of furcal appearances with light-cure composite resin directly repairing were 46.7%. There were statistics difference between resinous inlay repairing and light-cure composite resin directly repairing (P<0.05). There were statistics difference among the daily microleakage of three experiment groups, group A CONCLUSIONUsing resinous inlay to repair the subpulpal wall perforation can improve the sealing effect and avoid material overextension. AH Plus can be used as perforation sealant because of its better sealing ability.
