Functional imaging modalities including DW-MRI and PET-CT have shown promising prospect in the early evaluation of the response of rectal cancer to preoperative chemoradiotherapy. Objective Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a rare multisystem vasculitis of unknown aetiology. To describe the clinical features of the disease, the treatment and long-term follow-up. Methods Eight CSS patients were selected from rheumatology department of guangdong province peoples hospital between 2000-2005. Data were obtained retrospectively. The patients′ clinical manifestation and laboratory result were studied. Results All patients had asthma and hypereosinophilia. The lung,skin and peripheral nervous system were the most commonly involved organs. The majority of patient received intravenous injection pulses of methylprednisolone 0.5 g/d?3 d, followed by per oral prednison 1 mg?kg-1?d-1 and intravenous injection pulses of cyclophosphamide 750 mg/m2. The outcome and long-term follow-up were good. Objective To study the clinical and pathologic features,histological criteria and pathologic factors contributing to diagnosis of mixed epithelial and mesenchymal tumors(mixed m?llerian tumors,MMT)of the uterus.Methods A retrospective study of 102 cases of MMT of the uterus (74 adenofibromas including 9 recurrent cases,3 atypical polypoid adenomyomas,2 carcinofibromas,10 adenosareomas and 13 carcinosarcomas)was undertaken.Clinical records,gross features and tissue slices were reviewed.The follow-up data were analysed.Results The most common symptom was vaginal bleeding.Clinical signs included pelvic mass,uterine polyps,and enlarged uterus.Benign MMT usually presented as exophytic polypoid masses extending into the uterine cavity or protruding through the external os,often broad-based,lobulated and papillary.It was hard to distinguish low-grade malignant MMT from the benign ones by gross appearance.High-grade malignant MMT had the common gross features of carcinoma and sarcoma.Histologically,MMT showed a biphasic differentiation of mesenchymal and epithelial components.MMT were classified according to whether these elements were benign or malignant.Nine cases of adenofibroma without unique features for the diagnosis of adenosarcoma recurred at postoperative intervals of 3 to 96 months.Recurrent tumors were almost always confined to the original site.Conclusions Uterine MMT tumors according to WHO diagnostic criteria are not rare.The differential diagnosis depends on a multifactorial analysis.The recurrent adenofibromas may be a kind of borderline tumors with benign appearances and malignant behavior.

Objective:To study expressions of CD117 and CD34 in the patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL,M3) and in M1-M2 subtype from FAB classification for acute leukemia(AL).The focus of the study would be laid on the clinical significance of CD117/CD34 co-expression in the patients of M3 subtype.Methods:Researched cases of acute nonlymphoblastic leukemia(ANLL) were divided into two groups:M1-M2 subtype and M3 subtype.Flow cytometery(FCM) was used to detect the rates of positive expression of CD117 and CD34 on bone marrow mononuclear cell(BMMNC) in 54 patients of M3 and 63 patients of M1-M2 subtype respectively.Meanwhile,we compared the differences between the rates of expression of CD117 and CD 34.And,the rates of CD117/CD34 co-expression in patients of M1-M2 subtype and M3 subtype were studied.Results:Our results revealed that the positive rates of CD117 expression in M1-M2 subtype and M3 subtype were 71.4%(45/63) and 66.7%(36/54) respectively(P=0.58).The positive rates of CD34 expression in M1-M2 subtype and M3 subtype were 66.7%(42/63) and 11.1%(6/54) respectively(P=0.000).The positive rates of CD117/CD34 co-expression in M1-M2 subtype and M3 subtype were 71.1%(45/63) and 7.4%(4/54) respectively(P=0.000).Conclusion:CD117 may be used as immunology marker for leukemia of myeloid origin.CD34 had lower expression in M3 subtype than in M1-M2 subtype.The positive rate of CD117/CD34 co-expression in M3 subtype was significantly lower than that in M1-M2 subtype,which can help for diagnosis of M3 subtype and help differentiate M3 subtype from M1-M2 subtype as well.

Objective To explore the feasibility of establishing animal model of schistosomiasis through subcutaneous injection of IMDM liquid and intramuscular injection of IMDM liquid both of which contained the cercariae.Methods The mice were infected with schistosome cercariae by three different ways: subcutaneous injection(Group A),intramuscular infection(Group B) and the classical method: skin infection(Group C).Forty-five days post-infection, the mice were sacrified and the adult schistosomes were investigated.
