AIM: To assess the relationship between ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) infection, vertical transmission pathway and diseases in neonates.METHODS: Specimens of amniotic fluid and cervical swabs from 30 women at delivery, and nasopharynx and urinary mouth secretions from 161 neonates were cultured for UU. RESULTS: The UU positive rate of 30 women at delivery and 8 neonates from puerperas with UU infection were 26.67% and 62.7%, respectively. The detective rate of UU in normal neonates (26 of 130, 20%) was significantly lower than that in sick neonates (14 of 31, 46%) ( P

Objective To evaluate the effects of hydroxyapatite (HA) extensively-coated prosthesis on elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty. Methods From February 1997 to May 1999,96 patients Were treated with hydroxyapatite (HA) coated prosthesis and followed up for their hip arthroplasty.Their results were studied clinically and roentgengraphically to evaluate chiefly their Harris scores, complications and thigh pain. The survival of prosthesis was evaluated according to Kaplan-Meier methods. Results The 60 cases were followed up for eight years on average(range, sevon to nine years).Their mean Harris scores were improved from 42 preoperatively to 90 postoperatively.Fifty-eihgt cases felt no pain at their hip,but two did at their thigh. No radiolucent lines were observed. All the prostheses achieved bony stabilization and remolding. Conclusions HA coated prosthesis can achieve fine fixation, because it helps bone conduction, resists axial force and torsion, and reduces operative risks.

Objective To study the role of Mycoplasma genitalium(Mg)infection in chronic non- bacterial prostatitis. Methods Culture and two PCR systems were performed on prostatic secretion specimens from 487 patients with chronic non-bacterial prostatitis and 75 health men in Changchun regions. Results positive rate of Mg in the prostatic secretion from the 487 patients was 7.39% (36/487);In the controls, the positive rate of Mg was 1.33%(1/75).The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (X~2=3.88,P

Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of computer aided cognitive rehabilitation system for the treatment of cognitive impairment after stroke. Methods The data of 70 cases of cognitive impairment after stroke patients were randomly selected from November 2011-November 2012 in our hospital, according to the treatment method, patients were randomly divided into research group (n=35) and control group (n=35).The control group patients were given cognitive training, sports and drugs and other conventional treatment. On the basis of conventional treatment, the research group patients were given computer aided cognitive rehabilitation system treatment. Then we observed and compared the clinical curative effect of two groups of patients after treatment. Results The cognitive rating scale (LOTCA) scores in patients in the research group was better than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05) The simple mental state examination (MMSE) score of patients in the research group was better than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion Computer assisted cognitive rehabilitation system for patients with cognitive impairment after stroke has significant curative effect, and should be popularized and widely used in clinical treatment.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
Cell viability of Pichia pastoris was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) with two reagents fluorescein diacetate (FDA) and propidium iodide (PI). Compared with FDA/PI double-stained dot plots and PI single-stained dot plots, the latter could divide dead and living cells into two separate zones, and get the correct proportion. Then PI single-stained method was used to detect the change of cell viability in Pichia patoris fermentation. At glycerol batch and fed-batch phase, little dead cells were detected. At methanol fed-batch phase, cell viability decreased when cell weight increased, and was only 73.8% at 88 h.

Objective To observe the effect of intravesical chemotherapy in papillary urothelial neoplasm of low malignant potential (PUNLMP) urinary bladder after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR-Bt). Methods 44 cases of PUNLMP confirmed by pathological examination from Jan 2004 to Dec 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical manifestation: 24 asymptomatic, 19 gross hematuria and 1 abdominal discomfort. All cases were treated by TUR-Bt and immediately administered by intravesical instillation of 40 mg HCPT once, then 32 cases (A group) underwent additional intravesical instillation of HCPT once, and 12 cases (B group) underwent instillation qw for 8 times. Results PUNLMP cases accouted for 2.28 %(44/1 926) of bladder neoplasms admitted during the same period. There were 32 males and 12 females. 39 patients had multiple tumors, and 5 had single. All of cases were followed up with the medial follow-up time of 82 months (16-136 months), only one case in B group recurred after 14 months, and postoperatively without pathological progression. The difference of recurrence rates between two groups had no statistical significance (P=0.273). Conclusions PUNLMP has low incidence rate and is more common among middle-aging males. Doctors should consider PUNLMP when patients with bladder neoplasm are asymptomatically detected. Immediate instillation combined with additional one postoperatively could reduce the recurrence rate of PUNLMP obviously with satisfying prognosis. However, maintenance instillation does not enhance effect.
