Objective To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture at point Fenglong(ST40) on the expressions of macrophage surface antigen CD11b and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in hyperlipidemia rats. Method Forty healthy SD rats were randomly allocated to normal control, high fat diet, high fat+common diet, high fat diet and treatment, and high fat+common diet and treatment groups. After 28 days of treatment with electroacupuncture at point Fenglong, blood lipid levels, namely, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) contents were measured in every group of rats. The expressions of peritoneal macrophage surface antigen CD11b and ICAM-1 were examined using flow cytometry (FCM) in every group of rats. Result Plasma TC and LDL-C increased significantly in the high fat diet group of rats compared with the normal control group (P<0.01). In the high fat+common diet group of rats, serum TC and LDL-C decreased significantly in comparison with the high fat diet group (P<0.01) but increased significantly in comparison with the normal control group (P<0.01). After treatment with electroacupuncture at point Fenglong, rat plasma TC and LDL-C decreased significantly (P<0.01) and TG and HDL-C did not change significantly (P>0.05). The expression rates of macrophage CD11b and ICAM-1 increased significantly in the high fat diet group of rats compared with the normal group (P<0.01). In the high fat+common diet group of rats, the expression rates of macrophage CD11b and ICAM-1 decreased significantly in comparison with the high fat diet group (P<0.05) but increased significantly in comparison with the normal group (P<0.01). The expression rates of CD11b and ICAM-1 decreased significantly in the high fat diet and treatment group compared with the high fat diet group (P<0.01) and decreased significantly in the high fat+common diet and treatment group compared with the high fat+common diet group (P<0.01) and the high fat diet and treatment group (P<0.01). Correlation analysis showed that CD11b and ICAM-1 levels had a significantly positive correlation (r=0.947, P<0.01). Conclusion Electroacupuncture at point Fenglong can significantly down-regulate blood fat TC and LDL-C levels and the expressions of macrophage CD11b and ICAM-1 in hyperlipidemia rats. It has a certain therapeutic effect on hyperlipidemia.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the antiproliferation effects of aloe-emodin on growth of gastric cancer cells and cell cycle arrest. Methods Human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells were treated with 2.5,5,10,20,and 40 ?mol/L aloe-emodin for 1—5 d.The cell growth was determined by MTT assay.Cell proliferation and cycle distributions were analyzed by flow cytometry.Western blotting assay was used to detect the changes of cell cycle regulators, cyclins, and cyclin-dependent kinases(CDK).Results Aloe-emodin inhibited the growth of gastric cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner.Treatment of aloe-emodin resulted in cell cycle arresting at G2/M phase. Its molecular mechanisms involved the decrease of the expression of cyclin A and CDK2,the increase of the expression of cyclin B1 and CDK1.Conclusion One of the antitumor mechanism of aloe-emodin on the growth of gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells is to arrest the cell cycle, which indicates that aloe-emodin has a potential value for the treatment of gastric cancer in clinic.

Abstract?AIM:To evaluate the pupil light reflex in patients with primary open angle glaucoma, and to investigate the relation between pupil and visual field defect.?METHODS:From July 2014 to October 2015, 115 eyes in 86 patients with primary open angle glaucoma and 23 eyes in 16 healthy individuals were continuously enrolled in this study. All the subjects received comprehensive eye examination, visual field examination ( Humphrey, SITA Standard 24-2 ) and dynamic pupil measurement ( MonCV3 Metrovision) .According to the visual field and the Glaucoma Staging System, the patients with glaucoma were divided into 5 subgroups: stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, stage 4 and stage 5. The parameters of pupillary light reflex were as follows: pupil diameter ( minimum, maximum ) , latency and duration of contraction, latency and duration of dilatation, contraction amplitude, contraction and dilatation speed, and percent of pupil contraction ( PPC ). SPSS 19.0 statistical software was used to analyze the measurement results.?RESULTS:The control group significantly differed from the stage 4 subgroup ( P=0.032 ) and stage 5 subgroup (P=0.014) in terms of minimum pupil diameter; there was significant difference in the pupil contraction speed between groups ( F =648.675, P <0.01 ), and the contraction speed in stage 5 subgroup was significantly lower than those in the other subgroups and control group (P<0.05); the control group significantly differed from the stage 3, stage 4, and stage 5 subgroup in terms of PPC ( P<0.05 ).Pupil contraction speed, PPC and minimum diameter showed correlation with the stages of glaucoma.?CONCLUSION:Pupil contraction ability in patients with primary open angle glaucoma was impaired, and the degree of impairment is related with the degree of visual field defect.

Objective To investigate the sleep condition and its influence factors in old patients with hypertension. Methods A total of 100 old patients with hypertension were investigated by Pitts-burgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and serf-designed questionnaire of influence factors. Results 76 per-cents of the old patients with hypertension had sleep disorders. The total score of PSQI,sleep quality, time take to fall asleep, hours of sleep, sleep effficiency, sleep disorders, hypnotic drugs and every score of daytime dysfunction were significantly higher than domestic norm(P<0.01).Surroundings(strange circumstances or noisiness), physio-pathology (disease distress or high frequency of going to toilet during nighttime),psycho-logical situations(the fear to the disease or worrying about medical fees) and drags(use of diuretics or the adverse effects of some antihypertensive agents) were the important factors affecting sleep quality. Con-clusions Old patients with hypertension have poor sleep quality, which relates with multiple factors.Valid nursing interventions should be adopted in order to control the various factors which affect sleep quality to improve patients' sleep quality.

Objective To study the feasibility of TNF-α promoting migration of rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to local damaged tissues. Methods The MSCs was exposed to TNF-α at different concentrations and the expression rate of surface adheslon molecules and specific markers as well as their adhesion to endothelial cells were detected.Based on the above steps, the MSCs stimulated with the optimal concentration of TNF-α were obtained and were injected intravenously to the rats whose hindlimbs experienced ischemia damage. The rats were executed for achieving the muscle samples in the ischemic area, which were made into frozen section to count the number of MSCs. Results ( 1 ) Twenty-four hours after the TNF-o stimulation, the expression of adhesion molecule (VCAM-1) of MSCs increased in a concentration-dependent manner, while the expression of adhesion molecules (ICAM-1,L-Selectin and VLA4) of MSCs showed no significant changes.Besides, the expression rate of specific markers of MSCs was also obscure.(2) Exposed to 10 ng/ml TNF-o,MSCs presented an obviously increased ability in adhesion to the endothelial cells.(3) MSCs stimulated with 10 ng/ml TNF-α showed a larger number in the ischemia-damaged tissue of rat hindlimbs than that in the control group. Conclusion TNF-α at concentration of 10 ng/ml is effective within a short term in increasing VCAM-1 expression in rat MSCs and promoting the adhesion of MSCs to endothelial cells without affecting their character.
