OBJECTIVETo investigate the applied anatomy of the superficial peroneal artery perforator flap and report the clinical results of repairing the soft tissue defects with free perforator flaps.
METHODS15 fresh cadavers were injected with a modified lead oxide-gelatin mixture for three-dimensional visualization reconstruction using a 16-slice spiral computed tomography scanner and specialized software (Materiaise's interactive medical image control system, MIMICS). The origin, course and distribution of the superficial peroneal artery perforator in the anterolateral leg region were observed. Clinically 6 cases with hand defects and 6 cases with feet defects were treated with free superficial peroneal artery perforator flap transplantation. The defect size ranged from 3.0 cm x 4.5 cm to 5.0 cm x 11.0 cm.
RESULTSThe diameter of the superficial peroneal artery is (1.2 +/- 0.3) mm at its origin from the anterior tibial artery 5 cm below the fibula head. It is (5.6 +/- 1.8) cm in length. This artery is truly anastomosed with other perforators to form the chain of superficial peroneal nerve accessory artery. The superficial peroneal artery perforators [outer diameter (0.7 +/- 0.2) mm] with a vein are in the anterolateral leg region, supplying the skin in proximal-middle region. All the 12 cases were treated successfully. The clinical results were satisfactory after 3-12 months of following-up.
CONCLUSIONSThe superficial peroneal artery perforator flap has constantly, reliable blood supply, and good texture. It is a good option for repairing soft-tissue defect with free transfer.

OBJECTIVETo confirmed reliability and feasibility of intranasal nerve growth factor (NGF) bypassing the blood-brain barrier and its potential neuroprotective effects on acute cerebral ischemia.
METHODS(1) To assay NGF concentrations in different brain regions after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Rats were randomly divided into intranasal (i.n.) NGF, intravenous (i.v.) NGF, and untreated group (n = 4). The concentrations of NGF of different brain regions in the three groups after MCAO were measured by ELISA. (2) To observe neuroprotective action of NGF on focal cerebral ischemic damage. Rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: i.n. vehicle, i.n. NGF, i.v. vehicle, i.v. NGF (n = 8). Treatment was initiated 30 minutes after onset of MCAO and given again 24 hours later. Three neurologic behavioral tests were performed 24 and 48 hours following onset of MCAO. Corrected infarct volumes were determined 48 hours after onset of MCAO.
RESULTSThe olfactory bulb in i.n. NGF group obtained the highest concentration (3252 pg/g) of NGF among all regions, followed by the hippocampus. The NGF concentrations in the olfactory bulb and hippocampus in i.n. NGF group were markedly higher than that in i.v. NGF and control groups. The infarct volume in i.n. NGF group was markedly reduced by 38.8% compared with i.n. vehicle group. I.n. NGF group vestibulum function markedly improved compared with i.n. vehicle group at 24 and 48 hours after onset of MCAO (P24h = 0.02 and P48h = 0.04, respectively).
CONCLUSIONIntranasal NGF could pass through the blood-brain barrier, reach the central nervous system, reduce infarct volume, and improve neurologic function in rats following MCAO. Intranasal delivery of NGF may be a promising treatment for stroke.

Pharmaceutical preparations, particularly as a "secret recipe" of traditional Chinese medicine in medical institutions, are the product of China's medical and health industry, and they are also an important means of competing of different medical institutions. Although pharmaceutical preparations have advantages and characteristics than institutes for drug and pharmaceutical companies, the quality standards of pharmaceutical preparations in medical institutions has not reached the desired level over the years. As we all know, the quality of pharmaceutical preparations is important to ensure the efficacy, especially under the environment of people pay more sttention on drug safety and effectiveness and contry increase emphasis on the stste of pharmaceutical preparations. In view of this, we will improve the grade, stability, and clinical efficacy of pharmaceutical preparations by the advanced equipment, testing instruments and the process dynamic quality control technology. Finally, we hope we can provide new ideas for the quality control of pharmaceutical preparations.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2013;29(6):440-446
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the genetic polymorphisms of 19 STR Loci in Shandong Han population in order to provide the genetic data for paternity testing.
METHODS:
The genotypes of 205 unrelated individuals in Shandong Han population were typed by Goldeneye 20A kit to get the allele frequencies and population genetic parameters of 19 STR loci. Four kits, Identifiler kit, SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit, and Goldeneye 20A kit, were compared with each other and used in the analysis of a special paternity test case.
RESULTS:
The population genetic parameters of 19 STR loci in Shandong Han Population were obtained. The cumulative discrimination power (CDP) and cumulative probability of exclusion (CPE) ranked from high to low were Goldeneye 20A kit, SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit and Identifiler kit, respectively. As duo case, the result of the real case showed that Identifiler kit had no excluding loci, and none of the SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit or Goldeneye 20A kit could exclude fatherhood.
CONCLUSION
Compared with Identifiler kit, SinoFiler kit, and PowerPlex 16 kit, Goldeneye 20A kit shows the higher efficiency than the others, but is not completely satisfied for duo cases.

Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics 2007;9(4):324-326
OBJECTIVETo study the effects of calcium and calmodulin dependent kinase against hypoxic neuronal injury and its possible mechanisms.
METHODSEmbryonic cortical neurons of 17-day pregnant embryo Sprague-Dawley rats were cultured in vitro and the cultured neurons were randomly allocated into different groups that exposed to hypoxia or hypoxia +calcium channel antagonist. Nimodipine and MK-801 were used to block the L-voltage sensitive calcium channel and NMDA receptor respectively before hypoxia. The methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method was used to determine the cell viability. Fluo-4AM, an intracellular calcium indictor, was used to detect the changes of intracellular calcium after hypoxia. The expressions of CaMKII and CaMKIV were detected by Western blot.
RESULTSThe cell viability of the nimodipine or MK-801-treated groups was significantly higher than that of the untreated hypoxia group. The intracellular calcium level of the nimodipine-treated group decreased rapidly after hypoxia. Compared to nimodipine treatment, MK-801 treatment could inhibit hypoxia-induced calcium influx for a longer time. Nimodipine treatment decreased the CaMKII expression while MK-801 treatment decreased the CaMKIV expression.
CONCLUSIONSNimodipine and MK-801 protect neurons from hypoxic injury possibly by the inhibition of CaMKII and CaMKIV expressions respectively.
