Abstract?AIM:To evaluate the pupil light reflex in patients with primary open angle glaucoma, and to investigate the relation between pupil and visual field defect.?METHODS:From July 2014 to October 2015, 115 eyes in 86 patients with primary open angle glaucoma and 23 eyes in 16 healthy individuals were continuously enrolled in this study. All the subjects received comprehensive eye examination, visual field examination ( Humphrey, SITA Standard 24-2 ) and dynamic pupil measurement ( MonCV3 Metrovision) .According to the visual field and the Glaucoma Staging System, the patients with glaucoma were divided into 5 subgroups: stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, stage 4 and stage 5. The parameters of pupillary light reflex were as follows: pupil diameter ( minimum, maximum ) , latency and duration of contraction, latency and duration of dilatation, contraction amplitude, contraction and dilatation speed, and percent of pupil contraction ( PPC ). SPSS 19.0 statistical software was used to analyze the measurement results.?RESULTS:The control group significantly differed from the stage 4 subgroup ( P=0.032 ) and stage 5 subgroup (P=0.014) in terms of minimum pupil diameter; there was significant difference in the pupil contraction speed between groups ( F =648.675, P <0.01 ), and the contraction speed in stage 5 subgroup was significantly lower than those in the other subgroups and control group (P<0.05); the control group significantly differed from the stage 3, stage 4, and stage 5 subgroup in terms of PPC ( P<0.05 ).Pupil contraction speed, PPC and minimum diameter showed correlation with the stages of glaucoma.?CONCLUSION:Pupil contraction ability in patients with primary open angle glaucoma was impaired, and the degree of impairment is related with the degree of visual field defect.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effects of internal fixation with lag screws plus an anti-sliding plate for the treatment of Hoffa fractures of the lateral femoral condyle.
METHODSFrom May 2006 to May 2014, 17 patients with Hoffa fractures of the lateral femoral condyle were treated with lag screws plus an anti-sliding plate. There were 13 males and 4 females, ranging in age from 27 to 59 years, with a mean of 32.5 years. All the fractures were fresh and closed fractures. According to the Letenneur's classification, 8 cases were type I, 4 cases were type II, 5 cases were type III. All the patients had no injuries of the cruciate ligament and the another part of the knee. Operative incision and fracture healing time were observed, knee joint function was evaluated by Letenneur system and HSS standard.
RESULTSThe patients were followed up from 10 to 24 months with a mean of 14.6 months. All incisions achieved primary healing, and no internal fixation breakage, malunion, femoral candyle necrosis, deep vein thrombosis of lower extremity were found. Fracture healing time was from 4 to 9 months with an average of 4.7 months. According to Letenneur's functional assessment, 10 patients got an excellent results, 4 good, 3 fair. Total HSS score was 91.1 +/- 4.7 on average,15 cases obtained excellent results, 2 good.
CONCLUSIONInternal fixation with lag screws and an anti-sliding plate can result in excellent effects for Hoffa fractures of the lateral femoral condyle. The key to a successful surgery is an anatomic reduction and rigid fixation of the fracture.

Haff disease is a type of human rhabdomyolysis characterized by the sudden onset of unexplained muscular rigidity and an elevated serum creatine kinase level within 24 h after consuming cooked aquatic products. Here,we reviewed a previous study on Haff disease and summarized the clinical manifestations, epidemiological characteristics, and etiological data to confirm the incidence and global epidemiology of the disease and identify the most common seafood vectors.Future directions for Haff disease study will include further prospective etiological studies and the development of prevention and control strategies.
6.A murine model of three mixed allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (A + B + C-->A).
Journal of Experimental Hematology 2003;11(2):184-187
In this paper, a model of three allogeneic mixed bone marrow transplantation of mice (BALB/c, H-2(d); C57BL/6, H-2(b); and CBA/N, H-2(k)) was established and whether or not prolongation of the survival time in recipient mice was observed. Lethally irradiated mice were transplanted with a mixture of a syngeneic plus two allogeneic bone marrow (A + B + C-->A, in a ratio of 1:4:4). At same time, mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) with three allogeneic lymphocytes in vitro and two allogeneic antigens stimulated delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) in vivo were performed. The results showed that the mice receiving mixed bone marrow transplant survived 56.6 +/- 27 days and the longest 103 days, however, only 15 +/- 5 days in the single allogeneic transplantation group. Whether two reacting cells to one stimulating cells or one reacting cells to two stimulating cells, all showed lower activity of MLC than that in one to one control group. In DTH assay, the mice sensitized with two allogeneic antigens showed lower reactivity than that in one antigen stimulated mice. It was concluded that the survival time of recipient mice was significantly prolonged after transplantation with three mixed allogeneic bone marrow.
