OBJECTIVETo investigate the Toxoplasma gondii (TOX) infection in males with sterility and the effect of the infection on the reproductive function of males.
METHODSEnzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect TOX-CAg, TOX-IgG and TOX-IgM in the peripheral blood of male patients with sterility.
RESULTSAmong 100 cases of male sterility, 7 were TOX-IgG positive (7%), 16 TOX-IgM positive (16%) and 13 TOX-CAg positive (13%). Among 100 normal males, 7 were TOX-IgG positive (7%), 3 TOX-IgM positive (3%) and 1 TOX-CAg positive (1%).
CONCLUSIONTOX infection may affect the fertility of males and cause male sterility. For this reason, males should prevent themselves from TOX infection.

This paper is aimed to microscopic identification of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) using an in situ imaging method. In this study, two kinds of Zingiberaceae seeds, Amomi Rotundus Fructus and Alpiniae Katsumadai Semen, were investigated by synchrotron radiation in-line X-ray phase-contrast computed tomography (IXPCT) imaging method. The results showed that the microstructures of these Zingiberaceae seeds could be clearly obtained from the virtual slices information in different observing angles. It proves that IXPCT is an effective imaging method, which can provide the imaging information for the microscopic identification of the intact TCMs in situ and non-destructively.

8.Exploration on the relationship between diabetic peripheral neuropathy and oxidative stress QU ling and.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2007;27(8):764-768
The pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is not illustrated clearly nowadays, and there are several hypotheses. Oxidative stress response is penetrated in several different hypotheses as the formation of advanced glycosylation end products, polyhydric alcohol metabolic pathway, protein kinase C activation and microvascular lesion, etc. The influence of oxidative stress on DPN and the current status of anti-oxidation therapy by using integrative traditional and Western medicine were reviewed in this paper.
