Objective To examine the pathological changes in the liver of an AIDS patient with complicated infection of Pneumocystis carinii(PC). \ Methods\ A liver biopsy was made. The tissue was stained with HE, PAS, Giemsa, GMS, and acid\|fast staining, and examined under light microscope and transmission electron microscope. \ Results\ Granulomas (acid\|fast negative) in the tissue and numerous pathogens (PAS positive) in hepatic sinusoids were detected. Giemsa and GMS staining and electron microscopy all confirmed that the pathogen was Pneumocystis carinii. \ Conclusion\ The pathological findings revealed a diffuse extrapulmonary infection of Pneumocystis carinii in the patient of AIDS.

Objective To study image findings of nonossifying fibroma. Methods The pathological and image findings fo 22 cases of nonossifying fibromas proved by operation were analysed. There were 12 cases of male and 10 cases female, with age ranging from 10 to 35 years(mean age 17 years).X-ray plain films were obtained in all 22 cases,CT images in 7 cases, and MRI in 2 cases. Results The tumors were located in long bone in 19 cases,in which 14 cases were located in metaphyses,2 cases in diaphyses and 2 cases in bone end,and 4 cases in irregular bone, which was seen in clavicle, rib, illum and maxilla respectively. The tumor maximum diamneter ranged from 2 to 6.5 cm,with mean diameter of 3.2 cm,and the ratio of longitudinal to transverse diameter was 2.51.The tumors were round, oral or mild lobular in 17 cases. The tumors were showed sclerotic borders in 20 cases, and no sclerotic border in 2 cases(clavicle and rib).Septum was demonstrated in 19 cases.Bone expasion was showed in one case. Conclusion If a tumor is located in cortex or marrow of long or irregular bone which is showed a welldefined lytic lesion with sclerotic rim,the diagnosis of nonossifying fibroma will be considered.

In this study, we investigated the pharmacokinetics parameters of SPIO-shRNA dual functional molecular probe and observed the main organ distribution by MRI in vivo. Eighteen New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups and injected intravenously with different doses of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe, respectively. The blood samples were collected to analyze the pharmacokinetic parameters by measuring the iron content at 30 minutes before and after the injection. Twenty-four Kun Ming (KM) mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group was injected intravenously with physiological saline 200 µL per mouse via the tail vein, the other 3 groups were injected intravenously with different doses of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe. MRI observation was performed in 24 hours, and the liver, spleen, kidney, brain and muscle were collected for iron quantification with Prussian blue staining to determine distribution of the SPIO-shRNA molecular probe in the main organ in vivo. Our results suggest that the molecular probe blood half-life is more than 3 hours. The data of MRI suggest the probe was distributed in liver and spleen, and the MRI signal was reduced with the increase in probe's doses (P < 0.05). The results of Prussian blue staining confirmed the results of MRI. Most of the probe could escape the phagocytosis of mononuclear phagocyte system. Our data provide the pharmacokinetic and distribution of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe in organs. Meanwhile, it suggests the choice of the time and dose of probe for MR imaging of tumor in vivo.

Objective To explore the genuineness of Exocarpium Citri Grandis(ECG) from Huazhou city of Guangdong province. Methods We used the method of high performance liquid chromatography to detect the naringin content in ECG from different producing areas of Huazhou city.Random amplified polymorphic DNA analysis was used for the examination of genetic distance, and plasma-atomic emission spectrometry for the detection of soil elemental abundance of 8 elements such as aluminium(Al),kalium(K),calcium(Ca),ferrum(Fe),titanium(Ti),boron(B),magnesium(Mg),and manganese(Ma).The correlation of the above three parameters was analyzed by statistical software SPSS 11.5.Results Ca abundance in the surface soil layer had an obvious effect on the content of naringin, and the difference of Al and K abundance in subsoil layer was correlated with the genetic distance of ECG.Conclusion The genuineness of ECG is probably related with the abundance of phlopopitum in the soil of producing areas of Huazhou city.

Objective To review the clinical and histopathological features, management and outcomes in 67 patients with seba- ceous carcinoma of the eyelid.Design Retrospective case series.Participants Sixty-seven cases of the sebaceous gland carcinoma were retrieved from the ophthalmology archives of Tongren Hospital between 1996 and 2005.Methods Clinical data of all patients were re- viewed from the charts.Pathology specimens were reviewed in all cases.Main Outcome Measure Presenting features, sites of origin, location, differentiation, management, histopathologic findings, and incidence of recurrence in 67 patients. Results A total of 36 female and 31 male patients were identified. The mean age at diagnosis was 59 years (range from 35 to 84).Initial clinical diagnoses elsewhere were sebaceous carcinoma (43.28%),chalazion (25.37%),basal cell carcinoma(7.46%).Initial histopathologic diagnoses were sebaceous carcinoma(79.10%),basal cell carcinoma(5.97%),squamous cell carcinoma(1.49%) and other or not available(4.48%).The initial treat- ment involved excisional techniques with reconstruction in 42 cases,anti-inflammatory in 12 cases, without any treatment in 10 cases. 61.19% cases presented the pagetoid invasion.Local recurrence developed in 58.21% and two died from metastatic sebaceous carcino- ma (8.70%).Regional lymph node excision was performed in 13.04% because of local metastases.Five year survival rate was 94.87%. Conclusions About 1/3 cases had not receive the right treatment at initial diagnosis eyelid. The recurrence rate of patients was still high.

This dissertation is to determine the biopotency of hemostat which processed in different places by establishing a bioassay method of Bletillae Rhizoma based on the thrombin time. Contrast test is the main methodology. Specifically, the reference substance of Bletillae Rhizoma is determined by comparing with the control substance of vitamin K1 using thrombin time, which is calibrated the Bletillae Rhizoma. The hemostatic biopotency is calculated by using the method of "parallel line assay method based on quantitative responses" (3.3) from different processed products. It indicates that there is a strong linear correlation between Bletillae Rhizoma and control drugs (Y = 66.332-23.913X, R2 = 0.995 3). The hemostatic biopotency of Bletillae Rhizoma from different processed products ranged between 821.93-1 187.53 U x g(-1) shown in the paper, and all of them can meet the requirements of the test. The methodology has an appropriate instrument precision (RSD 3.8%), intermediate precision (RSD 4.6%), repeatability (RSD 3.2%) and stability (RSD 3.7%). Therefore, it can be turned out that the methodology which established in the dissertation is good at determinating the hemostatic biopotency of Bletillae Rhizoma and it is reliable, simple and repeatable.
