Objective To understand the significance of upper eyelid swelling in early diagnosis and treat-ment of infectious mononucleosis(IM).Methods We early diagnosed these patients IMwith upper eyelid swelling, fever and lymph node enlargement under five days course of disease,and compared the coincidence rate with last diag-nosis,investigated the rate of upper eyelid swelling in non -early diagnosis cases with the course of disease above one week,and evaluated the effect of ganciclovir in treating IMin two groups.Results The coincidence rate was 97.14%in early and last diagnosis groups,and the rate of upper eyelid swelling was 60.2% in non -early diagnosis group. There were significant differences in disappear of upper eyelid swelling,fever and lymph node enlargement in the two groups.Conclusion Upper eyelid swelling has important significance in early diagnosis and treatment of IM.

Objective To explore the effect of Botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A) injected into the contralateral facial muscle on central facial palsy post stroke. Methods 30 stroke patients with moderate to severe central facial palsy were recruited (course of 3~10 months). They were divided into control group (n=15) and treatment group (n=15), who accepted facial training and BTX-A injection in addition, respectively.The bilateral deference of distance from angulus oris to the midline of the teeth(D1) and from the paropia to the angulus oris (D2) were measured before and 4 weeks after injection. Results The D1 and D2 both at resting and movement all decreased after injection in the treatment group, and decreased more than those in the control group. Conclusion BTX-A injection can further correct central facial palsy post stroke.

To study the antiarrhythmic effect of the newly developed alpha/beta-blocker TJ0711, a variety of animal models of arrhythmia were induced by CaCl2, ouabain and ischemia/reperfusion. Glass microelectrode technique was used to observe action potentials of right ventricular papillary muscle of guinea pig. The onset time of arrhythmia induced by CaCl2 was significantly prolonged by TJ0711 at 0.75, 1.5 and 3 mg x kg(-1) doses. TJ0711 (1.5 and 3 mg x kg(-1)) can significantly shorten the ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) duration, the incidence of VF and mortality were significantly reduced. On ischemia-reperfusion-induced arrhythmic model, TJ0711 (0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 mg x kg(-1)) can significantly reduce the ventricular premature contraction (PVC), VT, VF incidence, mortality, arrhythmia score with a dose-dependent manner. At the same time, rats serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase (CK) activities decreased significantly by TJ0711 (1 and 2 mg x kg(-1)). Ouabain could cause arrhythmia in guinea pigs, when TJ0711 (0.375, 0.75, 1.5 and 3 mg x kg(-1)) was given, the doses of ouabain inducing a variety of arrhythmia PVC, VT, VF, cardiac arrest (CA) were significantly increased with a dose-dependent manner. In the TJ0711 0.1-30 micromol x L(-1) concentration range, guinea pig right ventricular papillary muscle action potential RP (rest potential), APA (action potential amplitude) and V(max) (maximum velocity of depolarization) were not significantly affected. APD20, APD50 and APD90 had a shortening trend but no statistical difference with the increase of TJ0711 concentration. TJ0711 has antiarrhythmic effect on the sympathetic nerve excitement and myocardial cell high calcium animal arrhythmia model. Myocardial action potential zero phase conduction velocity and resting membrane potential were not inhibited by TJ0711. APD20, APD50 and APD90 were shortened by TJ0711 at high concentration. Its antiarrhythmic action mechanism may be besides the action of blocking beta1 receptor, may also have a strong selective blocking action on alpha1 receptor and reducing intracellular calcium concentration.

OBJECTIVE: To standardize the management on test of hospital preparations to ensure the quality of preparations. METHODS: The Access database and Word application of in Microsoft Office automatic groupware were integrated organically using VBA programming, and the data management system suitable for hospital preparation test was designed. RESULTS: The print files of various primary records and reports related to testing work exhibited beautiful page and uniformed format. Testing data of preparations were included into data base by computer recording, which facilitated data inquiry and data processing related to quality of hospital preparations. CONCLUSION: Due to this system, both the efficiency and quality of hospital preparation test work have been enhanced, which contributes to institutionalization and standardization of hospital preparation work.

Objective To study the effects of levodopa on the serum excitatory amino acids and some anti oxidative indexes in rats with parkinsonism.Methods Different doses of levodopa/benserazide were treated orally for three months in rats with 6 OHDA induced partial or severe injuries of unilateral nigrostriatal pathway. The levels of serum aspartic acid, glutamate and glutamine were measured by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). Objective To study the neurotoxicity of chronic aluminum overload and the protective effects of nimodipine in rats.Methods The brain damage models of rats were established via intragastric administration of aluminum gluconate(element aluminum 400 mg/kg)once a day,5 d/week for 12 weeks.The step-down test and programmed Morris water maze test were used to evaluate the changes of learning and memory functions of rats.Pathomorphological changes of hippocampi of rats were observed.The activities of SOD,ChAT,AchE,MAO-B and the contents of MDA of brain tissue in rats were also measured.Nimodipine(80 mg/kg)were intragastrically administered 4 h after aluminum administration every time for 12 weeks.Results Chronic aluminum administration induced the impairment of avoidance learning and memory ability and spatial oriental ability.Consistent with the behavioral changes,neuronal death in the hippocampi,decreased activities of SOD and ChAT,increased content of MDA,and increased activity of MAO-B and AchE were detected in the aluminum-overload mice.The administration of nimodipine could significantly protect rats from the brain damage,and behavioral and biochemical changes above caused by aluminum overload were in a dose-dependent manner.Conclusion These results suggest that changes of cellular calcium overload and oxide stress and MAO-B activities are involved in pathophysiological mechanisms of brain injury induced by chronic aluminum overload.Nimodipine has a protective effect on neurotoxicity of chronic aluminum overload.

Purpose To observe the curative effect of electroacupuncture in treating depression. Method Two hundred and ten subjects were randomly divided into electroacupuncture group and medication group. Results and conclusion The results were evaluated by an international depression scale in both groups. After one-course treatment, the average score markedly decreased in both groups, and a t-test showed that there was a significant difference in curative effect between before and after treatment in each group ( P < 0.001 ); but there was no such a difference between the two groups (P > 0.05 ).Electroacupuncture can be compared favorably with amitriptyline, an antidepressant. However, taking amitriptyline will produce some side effects. Therefore electroacupuncture is especially suitable for those who cannot take medicine.

Objective To investigate the effect of matrix metalloproteinase(MMP-2) in the attack of exprimental autoimmune myositis(EAM) rats, and the effects of methylprednisolone on expressions of gene mRNA and protein of MMP-2. Methods The expression levels of MMP-2 in the peripheral blood, spleen lymphocytes and muscles were detected by using RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry techniques and was compared among EAM group,EAM with methylprednisolone treatment group (EAMM) and control group. Results ⑴ The degree of episode in EAMM group was lower than that of EAM group , and the infiltration of the inflammatory cells and the necrosis of the muscles were also mild in EAMM group. ⑵There was significant upregulation of the expression of the MMP-2 gene mRNA in the lymphocytes of peripheral bood and spleen of EAM rats as compared with that of the control,Elevation of the expression of MMP-2 protein in rats muscles tissues of EAMM group was observed obviously. However, the expression of the mRNA and the protein of MMP-2 was suppressed significantly in EAM group compared with control group. Conclusions The upregulation of the expression of MMP-2 may be correlated with the onset of EAM. Methylprednisolone may relieve the degree of the pathology of EAM by the downregulation of MMP-2 .
