Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(3):9-12
The information concerning the treatment of Bi condition in 93 ancient medical books has been statistically analyzed through computer. The results showed that there were a total of 149 items of literature and 102 acupoints (276 times in frequency) in association with Bi condition. The common acupoints are Hegu (LI 4), Zusanli (ST 36), Fengshi (GB 31), diseased foci, Quchi (LI 11), Weizhong (BL 40), Yanglingquan (GB 34), Yangfu (GB 38), et al. The common meridians are Gallbladder Meridian,Bladder Meridian, Large Intestine Meridian, Stomach Meridian, Lung Meridian, Liver Meridian and Triple Energizer Meridian. The common parts are the lateral aspect of leg, arm, and foot, the medial aspect of foot, the lateral aspect of hand, the medial aspect of arm, and head. The common acupuncture techniques and their frequencies are moxibustion (54), needling (9), blood-letting (9), fire needling (2), ironing (2) and compression (1). Statistical analysis on the above information showed in the ancient times in treating Bi condition with acupuncture, selecting acupoints are according to meridian distribution, the body parts and syndrome differentiation.

Objective To explore the effect of different doses of tirofiban for PCI, myocardial injury and arterial flow conditions. Methods 70 patients undergoing PCI elevation acute myocardial infarction, were randomly and equally divided into the observation group and the control group. The control group of patients before PCI given haplotype character loading dose of tirofiban, the observation group were given a double load before PCI tirofiban.Recording and analyzing two groups of patients cTnI (cardiac troponin I), 90 minST section down percentage circumstances. Results The patients after 6h, 12h, 24hcTnI contents were (2.11 ±0.50,3.50 ±1.64,3.28 ±1.15) ng/mL was significantly lower than the control group (4.09 ± 1.13,9.48 ±2.61,5.79 ±1.26) ng/mL, and the difference was significant(P<0.05); the observation group were CTFC, 90 min fall within ST respectively was significantly better than the control group ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion Preoperative use of double loading dose of tirofiban can effectively improve the blood flow after PCI,, and reduce the incidence of myocardial injury and postoperative cardiovascular events.

Objective To evaluate the capability of three tests used alone or in combination for identification of Staphylococcus aureus. Methods Identification of Staphylococcus aureus by the detection of spa gene with PCR and the Vitek-2 system were selected as the reference methods.Comparison of three phenotypic tests including DNase, mannitol fermentation and tube coagulase test was carried out to analyze the sensitivity,specificity,positive/negative predictive value,positive/negative likelihood ratio and Youden index. The consistency, cost and related indexes of the assays were analyzed between the combined phenotypic tests and the reference methods. Results In the present study,324 isolates of Staphylococci, including 293 Staphylococcus aureus and 31 non-Staphylococcus aureus, were collected.Single biochemical test could not identify Staphylococcus aureus efficiently.Comparison between the reference methods and the combined three biochemical tests by Kappa statistic analysis indicated that an overall Kappa value was 0.9441,and the algorithm of combined test was less costly. The sensitivity and specificity of this algorithm were 100% and 90.3%,respectively.Conclusion The cost-effective algorithm of combined DNase, mannitol fermentation and tube coagulase test could efficiently distinguish Staphylococcus aureus from other Staphylococcus species.

OBJECTIVETo compare the differences in the clinical efficacy on Alzheimer's disease between acupuncture and medicine.
METHODSOne hundred and forty-one patients were randomized into an acupuncture group (72 cases) and a medicine group (69 cases). In the acupuncture group, the needling technique for benefiting qi, promoting blood circulation, regulating mind and improving intelligence was used at Shenting (GV 24), Baihui (GV 20), Fengchi (GB 20), Wangu (GB 12), Danzhong (CV 17), Zhangwan (CV 12), Qihai (CV 6), Xuehai (SP 10) and Zusanli (ST 36). The supplementary acupoints were selected according to the symptoms and physical signs. Acupuncture was given once a day and 6 treatments were required for a week. In the medicine group, the choline sterase inhibitor, donepezil (aricept) was prescribed for oral administration, 1 tablet (5 mg) each time, once every night. Four weeks later, the dose was increased to 2 tablets (10 mg) each time. In the two groups, the treatment of 4 weeks made one session and 4 sessions were required. The changes of scores before and after treatment in the minimum mental state examination (MMSE), the activity of daily living scale (ADL), Alzheimer's disease assessment scale-cognition (ADAS-cog) and the digit span (DS) were observed.
RESULTSAfter treatment, scores of MMSE and DS were increased as compared with those before treatment (both P < 0.05) and scores of ADL and ADAS-cog were reduced as compared with those before treatment. The score differences in MMSE, ADL, ADAS-cog and DS before and after treatment were significant in the two groups (all P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe needling technique for benefiting qi, promoting blood circulation, regulating mind and improving intelligence significantly improves the overall function, cognition and activity of daily life in the patients of Alzheimer's disease and the efficacy is better than donepezil.
