Objective To study the reasons and prophylaxes of conversion to laparotomy during gy-necological laparoscopic surgery. Method Clinical records of 36 cases of conversion to laparotomy out of 1143 cases of gynecological laparescopic surgery were analyzed retrospectively. Results The rate of conver-sion to laparotomy was 3.15%. The reasons of conversion to laparotomy were abdominopelvic cavity adhesion in 23 cases, technical difficulty and complication in 8 cases, malignant tumor in 3 cases, accounting for 63.89%, 22.22%, 8.33%, respectively. The rate of conversion to hparotomy in patients with a history of laparotomy was significantly higher than that without a history of laparotomy. The rate of conversion to laparoto-my in early stage of developing laparoscopic surgery was significantly higher than that in other stages. Con-clusions Abdominopelvic cavity adhesion is the primary reason of conversion to laparotomy during gyneco-logical laparoscopic surgery. Careful evaluation before surgery and improving ability of performance can de-crease the rate of conversion to laparotomy.

OBJECTIVEWe aim to explore the central auditory nervous system (CANS) functioning in children with nonsyndromic cleft palates by analyzing the auditory evoked potentials and event-related potentials (ERP).
METHODSA total of 34 children with nonsyndromic cleft palates were recruited as subjects, and 27 normally developed children were selected as the normal controls. Auditory brainstem response (ABR), middle latency response (MLR), and mismatch negativity (MMN) of ERP were selected as indices to observe the function of CANS in children in both groups.
RESULTSAstatistically significant difference between the groups was obtainedin the MMN recording (F = 227.69, P < 0.01), whereas no significant group differences were obtained in the ABR and MLR results (P > 0.05). Children with nonsyndromic cleft palates showed diminished MMN responses compared with the normal controls, whereas ABR and MLR were within the normal range.
CONCLUSIONChildren with nonsyndromic cleft palates are at risk of central auditory discrimination dysfunction. The significant abnormal event-related potentials recorded in children with cleft palates suggest that the dysfunction of CANS maybe located at the cortical level and normal function of CANS was located at the brain stem and sub-cortical level.

Objective To detect differentially expressed genes in prostate cancer by cDNA microarray. Methods Total RNA was isolated by one step protocol from prostate cancer (CaP) and from normal prostate, and Poly(A) +RNA was further purified through Oligitex mRNA Midi Kit.Then it was analysed for differentially expressed genes in CaP and normal prostate by cDNA microarray with 4 096 human genes. Results There were 341 differentially expressed genes between CaP and normal prostate,of which there were 128 down regulated and 213 up regulated ones for CaP. Among these genes,15 were the most significant with 6 down regulated and 9 up regulated. Conclusions cDNA microarray can be used effectively to find out differentially expressed genes in prostate cancer which is not regulated by any single gene. Many different kinds of genes are involved in the initiation and evolution of CaP carcinogenisis.

Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(11):-
Objective: To establish the quality standard for Jiujixingjun Power(Mentholum, Borneolum Syntheticum, Radix Scutellariae, Realgar, Cinnabaris, Brainia Insignis, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, etc.). Methods: Radix Scutellariae, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Brainia Insignis, Mentholum and Borneolum Syntheticum in this medicine were identified by TLC and GC. The contents of Mentholum and Borneolum Syntheticum were determined by GC. Results: Radix Scutellariae and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae and Brainia Insignis could be identified by TLC. Mentholum and Borneolum Syntheticum could be identified by GC. Its content was in the range of 75.69~78.51mg?g -1 and 61.26~ 64.14 mg?g -1 , respectively. The average recovery of Mentholum was 99.35%( RSD =0.98%) and Borneolum Syntheticum was 99.24%( RSD =0.98%). Conclusion: The method established is simple, feasible and reproducible and can be used as the quality standards for Jiujixingjun Powder.

0.05).Every one of the patients completed hemodialysis except one needing to rebuild blood circulation by changing another dialyzer, whose vein pressure became higher and the dislyzer was of cruor as it was difficult to build blood circulation. The rate of success has reached 99 percent. Conclusion There is no influence upon the general cruor mechanism when using hemophan dialyzers to heparin-free hemodialysis treat the acute or chronic renal failure. This simple method is not only effective but also safe, which can provide a reliable measure to rescue patients suffering from acute or chronic renal failure with serious tendency of hemorrhage.
