4. Thermostability of fluconazole with different crystal forms
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2013;48(4):301-304
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the thermostability of four crystal forms of fluconazole. METHODS: The thermostability of fluconazole was analyzed using XRD, DSC and TGA, and the structural characteristics of the crystal forms and crystalline transformation were determined using XRD with in-situ high temperature accessories. RESULTS: The crystal form I and II had good at thermostability, and the crystal structure of form III changed at about 40°C. The monohydrate transformed to form II at about 70°. CONCLUSION: The different crystal forms of fluconazole have distinct thermostability. The result of this study would provide a comprehensive reference for the quality evaluation of fluconazole.
5. Determination of related substances in fluconazole bulk drug
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2012;47(16):1333-1336
OBJECTIVE: To establish an HPLC gradient elution method for the determination of related substances in fluconazole bulk drug. METHODS: The separation was achieved by using an ODS column with gradient elution of mobile phase composed of 0.01 mol · L-1 ammonium formate and acetonitrile. The flow rate was 0.5 mL · min-1. The UV detection wavelength was 261 nm, injection volume is 20 μL. RESULTS: Fluconazole and its related substances can be separated effectively by this method, linear relation of fluconazole and impurity B-D were good, the detection limit were 0.20, 0.0052, 0.0073, 0.13 μg · mL-1, seventeen batches sample from nine manufacturers were determined. The related substances in fluconazole bulk drug were effectively determined. CONCLUSION: The HPLC method is rapid and accurate which may be used for the inspection of related substances in fluconazole bulk drug. Copyright 2012 by the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association.
6.Advances in Studying Water Microbial Ecology by Molecular Biological Techniques
Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
Microbes are important composition of ecology system. Nowadays it's very important to study the microbial diversity and community structure, especially in water bioremediation by microbiological resources. Modern molecular biology techniques provide effective methods to study the microbial ecosystem in aqua. Several techniques were summarized, including 16S rDNA clone library, DGGE (Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis), RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) and T-RFLP (Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism), while their application to analyze water microbial diversity were introduced.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical efficacy and safety of sildenafil in the treatment of high altitude heart disease associated with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in children.
METHODSFifty children (aged 2 months to 2 years) with high altitude heart disease associated with severe PAH, who were continuously transferred to the Intensive Care Unit between January 2011 and October 2013, were randomly assigned to observation and control groups. The control group was given conventional treatment, while the observation group received oral sildenafil [1 mg/(kg . d)] three times daily for 7-10 days in addition to the conventional treatment. Before and after treatment, hemodynamics, blood gas, routine blood parameters, and blood biochemical parameters were recorded.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the observation group had a significantly higher decrease in mean pulmonary artery pressure and significantly higher increases in arterial partial pressure of oxygen, cardiac output, cardiac index, and oxygenation index compared with the control group (P<0.05). In the observation group, there were no significant changes in mean arterial pressure, routine blood parameters and blood biochemical parameters (P>0.05), and no obvious adverse reactions were found.
CONCLUSIONSFor children with high altitude heart disease associated with severe PAH, sildenafil can effectively reduce pulmonary artery pressure and improve cardiac function and does not cause adverse reactions. This therapy has good safety according to the preliminary evaluation.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effect of combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker on the quality of life (QOL) including appetite, defecation, and sleep in patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor.
METHODSTotally 147 patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor were assigned to 4 groups according to different treatment methods, i.e., the supportive treatment group (A, 20 cases), the acupressure treatment group (B, 41 cases), the magnetic sticker treatment group (C, 40 cases), and a combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker treatment group (D, 46 cases). They were respectively treated with different methods, supportive treatment for group A, acupressure for group B, magnetic sticker for group C, and a combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker for group D. The scores of food intake, defecation frequency, sleep time, Karnofsky, and QOL were compared before treatment and at day 14 after treatment.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the scores of food intake, defecation frequency, and sleep time were obviously improved in B, C and D groups (P < 0.01). There was statistical difference between group D and group A (P < 0.01). In addition, in comparison with A group, both Karnofsky score and QOL score increased in B, C and D groups (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe assisted therapy of the combination of acupressure and magnetic sticker could ameliorate QOL such as the digestive functions and sleep in patients with advanced gastroenteric tumor.

· AIM: To investigate the expression and the possible implication of CD40/CD40L costimulatory molecules in erythema nodosum of patients with Beh(c)et's disease.· METHODS: Sampling was done from erythema nodosum of 5 patients with Beh(c)et's disease and normal skin of 2 healthy individuals. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to examine the expression of CD4, CD8, CD19, CD68, HLA-DR,CD40 and CD40L molecules in the obtained tissues.· RESULTS: Approximately 90% of epidermic cells in erythema nodosum expressed CD40 molecule. In the dermis and subcutaneous tissue, a significantly increased number of CD4+Tcells, CD8+Tcells, CD19+cells, CD68+cells, HLA-DR+cells,CD40L+cells, and CD40+cells were observed in the erythema nodosum as compared with that in normal skin. Double staining showed that CD40L molecules were expressed on 45% of CD4+T cells. CD40 molecules were expressed on 100% CD68+ cells and 59.2% of HLA-DR+cells respectively.· CONCLUSION: A number of CD40/CD40L costimulatory molecules are upreguiated in the erythema nodosum of patients with Behcet's disease.
