The endophytic microorganisms found widely in many kinds of plants mediate various effects to theirs hosts. In this study, seven different dominant endophytes (SDE01 to 07) isolated from a Hy-peraccumulator-Solanum nigrum L. were resistant to Cd2+, and the strain SDE06 survived even in the medium containing 80 mg/L of Cd2+. Bacteria strain SDE06 was identified as Bacillus sp.. The removal of Cd2+ of SDE06 in different conditions were studied. Under the optimal conditions, the incubating time was 36 h, the solution pH 6.0, the temperature was 37?C and the Cd2+ concentration of medium was 20 mg/L, the highest removal rate was up to 80.2% at this condition.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2003;28(12):1120-1125
The progress in the research of the chemical constituents and their pharmacological activities of Kadsura was summarized. These chemical constituents mainly contain lignanoids and triterpnoids, much of which are characteristic ingredients of the plant and have such activities as anti-oxidation, anti-HIV, and platelet active factor antagonists.

Objective:To observe the effect of Shuxuetong Injection on unstable angina pectoris in diabetic pa- tients after coronary stent implantation.Method:40 diabetic patients after coronary stent implantation were randomly divid- ed into two groups. The patients in the two groups were treated with basic drugs.17 patients in the controlled group were venously treated with Danshen injection 6 milliliters dissolved in 250 milliliters 0.9% sodium chloride injection once daily. 23 patients in the treatment group were venously treated with Shuxuetong injection 6 milliliters dissolved in 250 milliliters 0.9% sodium chloride injection once a day.The treatment course was fifteen days in both groups. The clinical effect and the frequency of angina attack were observed in both groups. The concentrations of plasma fibrinogen(FBG)and serum C- reactive protein(CRP)were measured before and after the treatment.Result:Compared with those of the controlled group, the frequency of angina attack and the indication of myocardial ischema in electrocardiogram greatly improved(P

Objective To study hemodynamics of cerebral blood flow in newborns with asphyxia.Method Bilateral cerebral electrical admittance plethysmogram(BCEAP) was used to explore characteristics of cerebral blood flow in 20 healthy newborns and 20 newborns with asphyxia respectively from first to fourth day after birth. Results Both the ratio of Hs to b-S(Hs/ b-S) and index of admittance differential loop(ADL) Ⅰ+Ⅱ decreased significantly in newborns with asphyxia compared to normal control from first to fourth day after birth(P

Neuroscience Bulletin 2009;25(2):61-66
OBJECTIVEThe present study is to observe in vitro the proliferation ability of the muscle cells from permanent myopathy (PM) patients of nomokalaemic periodic paralysis (normKPP), which is caused by mutations of Met1592Val in the skeletal muscle voltage gated sodium channel (SCN4A) gene on chromosome 17q23.1. We also evaluate the possible effect of the foreign basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in preventing and curing PM.
METHODSThe gastrocnemius muscle cells were taken from two male patients with PM of the same Chinese family with Met1592Val mutation of SCN4A, determined by gene screening. Four male patients suffering from the skeletal injury without PM were taken as control. All preparations were protogenerationally cultured in vitro. Proliferation of the cultured preparations was measured by MTT. Activities of the lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), and protein content in these cells were also detected. The effects of bFGF with different doses (10 ng/mL, 20 ng/mL, 40 ng/mL, 80 ng/mL, 120 ng/mL and 160 ng/mL) on the above mentioned parameters were also evaluated.
RESULTSCells from both PM and control subjects were successfully cultured in vitro. The cultivation of the muscle cells from PM patients in vitro was not yet seen. Results indicated the obvious stimulation of bFGF on cell proliferation, activities of LDH and CK, protein synthesis, in a dose dependent manner. The optimal dose of bFGF was 120 ng/mL (P<0.05), beyond which greater dose caused a less effect. The effect of bFGF on 160 ng /mL was stronger than that on 80 ng/mL, but there was no significant difference (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONMyoblastic cells from patients with PM had a weaker ability of developing into the myotubules, thus they were unable to perform effective regeneration, which resulted in a progressive necrosis. The exogenous bFGF could promote the division and proliferation of the muscle cells in vitro. These results shield a light on bFGFos potential role in preventing and treating PM.

Objective To analyze clinical diagnosis and management of 5 patients with actinomycete keratitis.Design Retro- spective case series.Participants 5 patients (5 eyes) with actinomycete keratitis. Methods The clinical features and microbiologic da- ta of 5 culture-proven cases of actinomycete keratitis recorded between October 2004 to March 2006 were analyzed.Main Outcome Measures clinical characteristics, isolations identification, drug susceptibility test and treatments. Results All patients were males and farmers.Of the 5 cases presented in this study,4 cases were followed by minor trauma as a predominant risk factor, and were pre- sented by a chronic progressive corneal ulcer with a wreath pattern of infiltrate. The diagnosis of all cases was based on laboratory in- vestigations,by which 4 cases of nocardia and one case of streptomyce were identified.A variable drug sensitivities were presented in nocardia isolates, which including TMP-SMZ,amicasin,gentamicin and fluorine-quinolones.Conclusions Nocardia keratitis is mainly followed by a minor trauma. It is identified predominantly by laboratory investigations.Tropical and systemically sensitive biotic are the initial choice, while debridement and amnionic transplantation could be an effective alternative.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2006;31(2):194-199
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the effect of polygonum multiflorum thunb (PMT) on the expression of brain-drived neurtrophic factor (BDNF) in hippocampus CA1 in rats induced by Abeta1-40.
METHODS:
The rat model was established by injecting Abeta1-40 into the right dorsal hippocampus in rats, and their behavior was observed by Y-maze. The morphological changes of rat hippocampus were examined by the Nissl staining. The expression of BDNF in hippocampus CA1 neurons was also examined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.
RESULTS:
After the administration of Abeta1-40, the times of rats learning how to elude electric stimulation were significantly increased, and the expression of BDNF in hippocampus CA1 were obviously reduced. The aggregation of Abeta1-40 in hippocampus and the morphological changes of CA1 hippocampus were found. After the treatment with PMT for 30 days, the times learning how to elude electric stimulation were obviously reduced, while the expression of BDNF in hippocampus CA1 was also increased.
CONCLUSION
PMT can reverse the down-regulation of BDNF expression in hippocampus CA1 induced by Abeta1-40.
