Objective To measure the renal cortex blood flow leVel in Patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease, and to obserVe the effect of Probucol on renal cortex blood flow and renal function. Methods Twenty Patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease in our hosPital were randomly diVided into treatment grouP ( 10 Patients ) and obserVation grouP ( 10 Patients). Ten healthy subjects were chosen as the control grouP. Dynamic sonograPhic tissue Perfusion measurement (DTPM) was used to eValuate the mean flow intensity (Imix),mean flow Velocity (Vmix) and tissue resistance index (TRI) in the three grouPs. Patients in the obserVation grouP were treated with standard theraPy;the treatment grouP was giVen Probucol 500 mg,twice daily in addition to standard theraPy for 6 months. The renal cortex blood flow leVel after treatment was measured in the treatment grouP and obserVation grouP. The serum BUN,SCr,TC,TG,LDL,HDL,hs_CRP,ox_LDL,PA,ALB before and after treatment were measured and comPared between the treatment grouP and obserVation grouP. Results Imix and Vmix were significantly lower,and TRI was significantly higher in the treatment grouP and obserVation grouP than in the control grouP (P<0. 01). After 6 months of treatment,Imix and Vmix in the treatment grouP were significantly increased and TRI significantly decreased as comPared with the baseline and the control grouP (P<0. 01). After treatment,Imix and Vmix were significantly decreased and TRI was significantly increased in the obserVation grouP (P<0. 05). In the treatment grouP,the serum BUN,SCr,TC,TG,LDL,hs_CRP and ox_LDL decreased and PA,ALB and HDL increased after treatment as comPared with the baseline and the obserVation grouP (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Conclusion The renal cortex blood flow leVel is significantly lower in Patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease than in the healthy PeoPle. Probucol can imProVe the renal cortex blood flow leVel significantly,Protect the renal function, and imProVe microinflammatory state,nutrition status and dysliPidemia.

Objective: To study the expression of the proliferating c el l nuclear antigen (PCNA) and cell nuclear area in the different layers of oral d ysplasia epithelium. Methods: S-P immunohistochemical method an d morphometric technique(computer image measurement method) were used to examine the PCNA and cell nuclear area in the different layers of the normal oral epith elium(NOR) in 8 cases and abnormal oral epithelium in 46 cases including mild d ysplasia(LD), moderate dysplasia(MD), severe dysplasia(SD) and well-differentia ted squamous cell carcinoma(SCC). Results: The positive PCNA sta ining cells in normal epithelium was found mainly in the basal layer. The prolif erating index(PI) in the whole layer of abnormal oral epithelium were increased (P05). PI in the basal la yer of abnormal epithelium was higher than in NOR (P0.05). Objective To investigate alterations of endothelial microparticles(EMPs) levels in patients with coronary heart dis‐ease(CHD) ,and to evaluate the relationship between EMPs and interleukin‐6(IL‐6) and C‐reactive protein(CRP) .Methods A to‐tal of 38 patients with CHD were divided into myocardial infarction(MI) group(13 cases) and unstable angina(UA) group(13 ca‐ses) and stable angina(SA) group(12 cases) ,and 12 healthy subjects were enrolled as control group .Levels of EMPs were meas‐ured by using flow cytometry technique .Concentration of IL‐6 and CRP were determined by using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and special protein analysis respectively .Results Compared with SA group and control group ,levels of EMPs were signifi‐cantly increased in MI group and UA group(P<0 .05) .Levels of EMPs in patients with CHD were significantly correlated with IL‐6 and CRP ,with correlation coefficient of 0 .79 and 0 .50 respectively(P<0 .05) .Conclusion EMPs could contribute to monitoring and evaluating the degree of endothelial cells injury in patients with CHD as a laboratory indicator .EMPs might enhance the vascu‐lar inflammation in patients with CHD ,and further accelerate the development of CHD .

Objective To investigate the relationship between proteinuria components and the severity of pregnancy induced hypertension syndrome (PIH), the unconcentrated urine samples from patients with PIH were analyzed on proteinuria components by electrophoresis.Methods Proteinuria components were analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-agarose gel electrophoresis (SDS-AGE) in unconcentrated urine samples from PIH patients (PIH group,n=114) and normal third trimester pregnant women (control group,n=110).Results Eleven kinds of urinary protein were detected in the PIH group and four in the control group. Objective To establish the in vivo models of adriamycin(ADR)-induced cardiotoxicity in rabbits, investigate the protective effect of oxymatrine (OMT) on ADR-induced cardiotoxicity, and explore the possible mechanism. Methods Twenty-six rabbits were randomly divided into ADR group (n=8, 2 mg/kg ADR), OMT group (n=5, 10 mg/kg OMT), ADR + OMT group (n=8, 10 mg/kg OMT was injected 30 min before ADR injection) and saline group (n=5, same quantity of normal saline), and rabbits in each group were infused with medicine or normal saline through ear marginal vein once a week for 8 weeks. The apoptosis of myocardial cells was detected by TUNEL methods, and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) was determined. Results After treatment, the body weight of ADR group was significantly lower than that of the other groups(P < 0.05), the activity of SOD and GSH-Px significantly decreased and the apoptosis index (AI) was significantly higher than that of the other groups(P <0.01). There were similar while minor changes in ADR + OMT group. There was no significant adverse effects in OMT group. Conclusion OMT protects heart from adriamycin-induced injury in rabbits, which may relate to the decrease in level of antioxidant and apoptosis of myocardial cells.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of scalp-acupuncture drawing method (SADM) on recovering motor function in hemiplegic patients following cerebral thrombosis at convalescent period.

METHODSAdopting randomized, single-blinded, controlled method, 93 patients suffering from hemiplegia following cerebral thrombosis were randomly assigned to 3 groups, 31 in each group. All patients were treated based on neurological routine therapy, those in the treated group and the control group I were treated respectively with SADM and scalp-acupuncture twirling method (SATM) additionally, but for those in the control group II, no additional treatment was given. The treatment course for all was 4 weeks.

RESULTSBefore treatment, there were insignificant difference among 3 groups in the score of neural motor function deficits (NFDS) of limbs and activity of daily life (ADL) score (P > 0.05). After being treated for 4 weeks, the NFDS was significantly lower and in the control group II (P < 0.01, P < 0.05) and the change of the scores in the treated group was more than that in the control group I (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSADM was superior to scalp-acupuncture twisting prove the ADL score and motor function of hemiplegia patients following cerebral thrombosis in the convalescent stage.

We have previously identified the benzoyl sulfathiazole derivative II as a non-competitive PTP1B inhibitor with in vivo insulin sensitizing effects. Preliminary SAR study on this compound series has been carried out herein, and thirteen new compounds have been designed and synthesized. Among them, compound 10 exhibited potent inhibition against human recombinant PTP1B with the IC50 value of 3.97 micromol x L(-1), and is comparable to that of compound II.
