AIM:To investigate the effects of 1.8mm coaxial micro incision phacoemulsification on corneal endothelial injury and postoperative visual acuity.METHODS: Totally 145 eyes in 120 patients underwent phacoemulsification from July 2013 to July 2015 were randomly divided into observation group 60 cases (73 eyes) and control group 60 cases (72 eyes).The observation group 60 cases were given 1.8mm coaxial micro incision cataract phacoemulsification operation,while the control group were given traditional 3.2mm coaxial micro incision cataract surgery.The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA),best corrected visual acuity (BCVA),corneal thickness of incision area,incision width,incision length,macular retinal thickness,surgically induced astigmatism,corneal endothelial cell counts and complications of the two groups were compared.RESULTS: The UCVA and BCVA on 1wk after surgery of the observation group were significantly higher than the control group (t=3.604,7.109;P<0.05);the width of incision on 1wk and 1mo after surgery of the observation group were significantly less than the control group (t=205.3,225.2;P<0.05).The length of incision in observation group was significantly greater than the control group (t=3.926,5.009;P<0.05).Macular retinal thickness 1wk after surgery of the observation group was significantly less than the control group (t=2.817,P<0.05).The surgically induced astigmatism was significantly less than the control group (t=19.43,22.16;P<0.01);the difference of corneal edema between the two groups was not significant (8.22% vs 11.11%) (x2=0.348,P>0.05).CONCLUSION: The 1.8mm micro incision phacoemulsification is helpful to improve the visual acuity of patients with cataract phacoemulsification,which may be related to the reduction of corneal cell injury,enhancement of corneal closure and decrease post-operation corneal original astigmatism.

The eight heavy metals and two essential constitutes of safflowers planted in linzhi which lies in Southern Tibet were analyzed by ICP-MS and by HPLC respectively. Heavy metals of safflower in the region were at the lower level and the essential constitutes were at the higher level. The better quality of safflower here was assisted by the excellent climate in tibet.

Objective:To study the effects on lymphocyte & T subset of SARS patients treated by integrative traditional Chinese and western medicine(ICWM). Methods:48 patients were randomly divided into two groups, the control group treated by western medicine (WM) alone and the test group treated by ICWM. The test group patients took the traditional Chinese medicine by 3 weeks based on their conditions. Lymphocyte and T subset were measured. Results:① At pretreatment, absolute value of lymphocyte of 38 patients in all patients were low. Objective To compare the results of mitral valve reconstruction and replacement as treatments for moderate to severe ischemic mitral regurgitation(IMR), and report the mid-term outcome. Methods From June 2002 to May 2008, 83 pa-tients with moderate IMR(35 cases) and severe IMR (48 cases) underwent coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG) combined with mitral valvuloplasty (MVP) (n = 43) or mitral valve replacement (MVR) (n = 40). There were 49 males and 34 females with a mean age of (59.3±7.5) years(51 -77years). The procedures of MVP included annuloplasty with a Dacron or autologous per-icardium ring in 21cases, commissural annuloplasty in 9, quadrangular resection of the posterior leaflet in 9 and using St. Jude mitral annuloplasty ring in 4. In the cases underwent MVR, 28 patients received mechanical prostheses and 12 received biopros-theses. Results 30-day mortality rate was 2.3% for MVP and 5.0% for MVR (P >0.05). The 30-day complication rate was similar for the 2 groups but mechanical ventilation time was longer for MVR patients. Mild MR ocurred in 6 patients with MVP (P <0.05). Sevonty-six patients were followed by outpatient department visit or telephone for (20.2 ± 4.9) months (3 - 60 months). During the follow-up period, 7 patients with MVP had mild insufficiency but free off etber complications. All the valve prothesis functioned well. However, 3 cases had thromboembolic complications and 7 late deaths were recorded in MVR group. Five-year complication-free survival rate was 90% for MVP group and 61% for MVR. Conclusion MVP resulted in excellent durability and provided significant mid-term survival benefit over MVR. MVP should be the first choice for patients with chronic IMR.

Objective To investigate the effect of short stature homeobox (SHOX) gene promoter-372G →A mutation on the promoter activity and its mechanism.Methods The luciferase report gene vectors containing human SHOX gene promoter-372G or -372A were contructed.Their transcription activities were detected in chicken chondrocytes.Double-stranded DNA probes containing-372G or-372A were produced by PCR,and used for detecting the affinity with nuclear transcription factors by electrophoretic mobility shift assay(EMSA).Results The transcription activity in a-372A promoter construct was significantly higher than that in the wild type-372G (P<0.01).The result of EMSA showed that-372A gene mutation resulted in loss of the binding affinity to nuclear transcription factors.Conclusion The-372A mutation increases SHOX promoter activity with decreased DNA binding affinity to transcription factors,which may contribute to impaired long bone growth in patients with idio pathic short stature.

Objective To report clinical study of diabetic foot with microsurgical treatment.Methods 32 cases basing on physical treatment underwent operation which included reconstruction of vessel under DSA and flap transfer and relaxation of nerves.Results 8 eases were examined with DSA after operation,it showed that the bypass grafts were unobstructed and the distal blood were improved;All flap were lively. Conclusion The ulcer of the patients with diabetic foot was closed early and the blood supply of the limb have been reconstructed by microsurgical treatment,it can not only avoid amputation or lower the limb amputation level,but also improve the life quality of patients and obtain social benefit.

Objective To explore the significance of palpation-negative breast tumor resection with ultrasound-guided methylene blue labeling and percutaneous suture traction.Methods 46 cases of small breast tumors with the diameter from 0.5 cm to 1.0 cm were double labeled with methylene blue under the guide of ultrasound l hour preoperatively.The tumors were fixed,drew outward with percutaneous suture and resected accurately.All the 46 cases were rechecked by ultrasound to verify whether residual or false resection occurred 1 month later.Results All the 58 tumors of the 46 patients were accurately resected.No residue or false resection occurred.The average operation duration was 10 min to 20 min.Conclusion Palpable-negative breast tumor resection with ultrasound-guided methylene blue labeling and percutaneous suture traction has the advantages of small invasion,accurate positioning and short operation duration.
