OBJECTIVETo assess the efficacy of tendons of minimally invasive therapy (TMIT) combined drug therapy by comparing it with treatment by drug therapy alone on patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
METHODSTotally 60 KOA patients were assigned to the treatment group and the control group according to random digit table, 30 in each group. Patients in the control group took Hydrochloric Acid Glucosamine Capsule and Celecoxib Capsule. Patients in the treatment group additionally received TMIT. The treatment course for all was 4 weeks. Scores for visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC) Osteoarthritis Index were observed and recorded at week 1 and 4 after treatment by acupotomology mirror.
RESULTSCompared with before treatment, improvement was shown in VAS score, pain and stiffness degrees, activities and functions, and WOMAC scores at week 1 and 4 after treatment in all patients with statistical difference (P < 0.05). Besides, better effect was shown in the treatment group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSTMIT combined drug therapy could relieve KOA patients' pain, stiffness and joint activities, elevate the overall efficacy. TMIT was easily operated with less injury.

Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2011;15(9):604-607
ObjectiveTo study the clinical features, arterial involvement, therapeutic strategies and outcomes of Takayasu arteritis (TA). MethodsThe clinical symptoms, arterial images, inflammatory parameters and follow-up information of 173 patients with TA were retrospectively studied. Comparisons between groups were performed by t-test. ResultsThere were 136 female and 37 male patients in this study. The mean age at onset was(26±11 ) years. Hypertension, pulse deficit or asymmetrical pulse, and fever were present in 46.6%, 41.1%, 28.7% of patients, respectively. The distribution of arterial involvement were 64.7%in aorta, 9.8% in pulmonary artery, 19.1% in innominate artery, 65.9% in common carotid arteries, 65.3%in the subclavian artery, 36.2% in the renal artery, 12.1% in the vertebral artery, and 5.8% in coeliac axis.Elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) was found in 61.0% patients. Active tuberculosis or history of tuberculosis was implicated in 45 patients(26.0%). Ten patients(5.8%) were hepatitis B virus carriers.Among 105 followed-up patients, 98 patients(94.2%) achieved persistent remission, 17 patients relapsed when corticosteroids were tapered. ConclusionCorticosteroids combined with or steroid alone, supplemented with endovascular intervention procedures or surgical bypass procedures when necessary, can effectively control the clinical symptoms and inflammatory parameters and improve the quality of life of patients.

Objective To investigate the assoiation between rheumatoid arthritis(RA)and the pres- ence of the shared epitope(SE)of HLA-DRBI gene in Han nationality of Neimenggu population. Methods The method of DNA amplification with sequence-specific primers(PCR-SSP)was used to determine 17 alleles of HLA-DRB1*01,*04,*10 genotypes in 80 RA patients and 110 healthy controls from the Han nationality population in Neimenggu. Results The frequencies of SE were significantly increased in RA patiens com- pared with controls(48.8%:20%,P<0.01).Epitope analysis revealed that the most predominant allele subtype of DR4(*0405)was usceptible sequence in Neimenggu patients with RA(28.8%:12%,P<0.01).No statisticall significant difference of other subtypes of DR1,DR4 nd DR10 was noted including DRB1*0101(2.5%:0.9%), *0102(2.5%:0),*0103(1.25%:0.9%),*0104(2.5%:0),*0401(6.25:1.8%),*0402(3.75%:0.9%),*0403 (1.25%:1.8%),*0404(2.5%:1.8%),*0406(2.5%:2.7%),*0407(1.25%:0.9%),*0408(3.75 %:0.9%),*0409 (1.25%:0),*0410(2.5%:0.9%),*0411(0:0)and *1001(8.75%:4.5%)respectively.Logistic regression analy- sis showed that the disease of patients with SE homozgote was more severe than that of patients with heterozy- gote(P<0.01).Conclusion The results suggest that there is an association between SE of HLA-DRBI gene and susceptibility and severity of RA,especially,HLA-DR4 subtypes are strongly associated with RA in Han nationality in Neimenggu population.

Objective To study osteogenic courses and features of human osteoblasts cultured in vitro and seeded into alloplastic decalcified cancellous bone. Methods Human osteoblasts isolated from normal human perios- teum were cultured and amplified in vitro.Thy configuration and developing manners of osteoblasts were observed. Then osteoblasts were seeded into alloplastic decalcified cancellous bone.Thy composites were implanted and cultured in thy body of athymic mice. The specimens were obtained 8 weeks later.Osteogenic characteristics were observed by scanning electron microscope. Results Osteoblasts isolated from human periosteum developed well and proliferated rapidly in vitro.Island new bone formation could be observed histologically 8 weeks after the composites of os- teoblasts and alloplasric decalcified cancellous bone were implanted and cultured in the body of athymic mice.Conclu- sion Calcified bone can be formed by seeding osteoblasts into alloplastic decalcified cancellous bone, which may be a new kind of bone graft source to construct bone defects.

Objective To measure the renal tissue texture or flexibility with virtual touch quantization (VTQ) and to tentatively examine its clinical application in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD).Methods A total of 750 patients (1500 kidneys) were performed with VTQ,including 400 cases in the control group, and 350 cases in the CKD group.A conventional ultrasound examination (two-dimensional,color Doppler) were first taken, and then the shear wave velocity (Vs) was measured which reflected the textural elastic. Results In both groups the Vs was the highest in renal cortex with significant difference (P<0.05); renal cortical region Vs in CKD group was lower than those in control group (P<0.05),while Vs of renal medulla and renal sinus had no significant difference in the two groups. The severity of renal dysfunction was increased along with a Vs decrease of renal cortex. Conclusion VTQ is helpful to assess renal function of patients with CKD.

Objective To explore the regulatory effects of hyd ro gen sulfide (H 2S) on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vascular rem odeling in rats. Methods Twenty-four rats were divided into 3 groups: control group(n=8), hypoxia group(n=8), and hypoxia +NaHS group( n=8). After 21 days of hypoxia, the mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) wa s measured. The weight ratio of right ventricle. left ventricle +septum (R/L+S r atio) was measured. The microstructure and ultrastrcture changes in pulmonary sm all arteries were examined. The contents of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and Bc l-2 protein expressions were detected by immunohistochemical assay.Resu lts Compared with rats in the control group, the mPAP increased by 45.6 % (P

ObjectiveTo explore the effectiveness and practicability of training technique in hemiplegia.Methods313 stroke patients with hemiplegia were divided randomly into the control group and training group, and treated with integrative training technique for hemiplegia impairment during 3 months. Locomotor recovery and the performance of activities of daily living (ADL) of patients in two groups were assessed before and after one, two and three months training respectively, using Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and the scale of impairment in community rehabilitation.ResultsAfter treatment, FMA, FIM and the scale of impairment in community rehabilitation of the patients in the training group improved significantly ( P<0.001), the effectiveness was better than that of the control group ( P<0.05~0.001).The scales of FMA and FIM were proportional to the scale of impairment in community rehabilitation.ConclusionThe training technique for hemiplegia has ideal rehabilitation effectiveness.
