BACKGROUND: Although the clinical effect of cervical disk replacement in short term has been ascertained, but the middle and long term result is not known, especially for the adjacent level. OBJECTIVE: To observe clinical result and effect of cervical disk replacement on adjacent level in middle and long term. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Retrospective case analysis was performed at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital from December 2003 to March 2005. PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-three patients (aged 35-73 years) undergoing cervical disc replacement were followed up for 3 years. Of them, 25 patients received one-level disk replacement, and 8 received two-level disk replacement. METHODS: The clinical results and imaging before and after operation were compared. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Clinical indexes including JOA grade, Odom’s grade, NDI, SF-36; X-ray: Kellgren X-ray grade, disk cervical height, disk motion, Pfirrmann disk grade, sigittal diameter of spinal cord, and compression of the spinal cord. RESULTS: The point of JOA is 13.62?2.31 before operation, 15.75?1.55 after operation; the differences were significant (P=0.000). For Kellgren X-ray, 10 levels occurred degeneration above the disk replacement level, accounted for 33% (P=0.004), and 9 levels developed degeneration below the disk replacement level, accounted for 32% (P=0.011). No obvious changes in imaging indexes were observed before and after surgery. CONCLUSION: The clinical outcome of cervical disk replacement is good in middle-term follow up. Some adjacent level degeneration may occur after cervical disk replacement, and the degeneration type is osteophyte formation in the adjacent level. This kind of adjacent level degeneration does not affect the clinical outcome in middle term follow-up.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has high incidence rate,recurrence rate after surgecal treat-ment,as well as fatality rate in China .HCC is not sensitive to radiotherapy or chemotherapy and no effective treat-ment is available for HCC patients at advanced stage .Sorafenib is the first effective molecularly targeted drug for the treatment of HCC,which represents a milestone in the treatment of HCC .However,it also shows drug resist-ance during clinical application .Therefore,it is important to investigate the mechanism of drug resistance and its molecular markers for HCC .In this review ,we summarize the current status of the studies in these fields .

Abstract?AlM: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of glaucoma filtration surgery combined with the application of 5 - fluorouracil for clinical treatment to offer the reference.?METHODS:A total of 91 cases of patients with glaucoma treated in our hospital were randomly divided into three groups, 30 cases of group A were given mitomycin in surgery, 31 cases of group B were given 5-fluorouracil, 30 cases of group C were given cyclosporine. They were given 12 -month-follow-up after operation, the operation success rate were recorded, the incidence of 1 -year-adverse reactions, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, low intraocular pressure, shallow anterior chamber, corneal damage index were recorded.?RESULTS: lntraocular pressure ofgroups A, B, C were respectively (20.5±8.6)mmHg,(15.2±5.5)mmHg,(20.0± 8. 1 ) mmHg, by the analysis of variance, group B was significantly lower than other two groups,P<0. 05;patients of groups A, B, C whose visual acuity increased ratios after 1y were respectively 22. 5%, 38. 1%,and 23. 1% , by the Chi. square test, the increased ratio of group B was higher than other two groups , P<0. 05; The operation success rates after 1y of operation of groups A, B, C were respectively 67. 5%,88. 1%,71. 8%,by the Chi square test, the increased ratio of group B was higher than other two groups, P<0. 05;The general incidence of adverse reaction were respectively 22. 5%,9. 5%,20. 5%,by the Chi square test , the increased ratio of group B was lower than other two groups, P<0. 05.?CONCLUSlON:Glaucoma filtration surgery combined with the application of 5-fluorouracil can improve the operation success rate, decrease the occurrence rate of adverse reaction, and safety can be improved.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the expression of interleukin-1 β ( IL-1β) ; interlenkin-8 ( IL-8 ) ; tumor necrosis factor-α,(TNF-α) in induced sputum in different stages of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heath smoking controls.Methods90 healthy smoking controls and 100 stable COPD patients were enrolled.The levels of IL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum were detected by radioimmunoassay.ResultsThe levels of IL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α in stable COPD patients were much higher than those in healthy smoking controls (P =0.000).There are an inverse correlation between FEV1 and levels of IL-1 β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum (r=-0.678,-0.752,-0.615,all P＜0.05).ConclusionIL-1β,IL-8 and TNF-α may play important roles in the mechanism of airway inflammation in stable COPD.The levels of IL-1 β,IL-8 and TNF-α in induced sputum may be a marke of severity of airway inflammation in stable COPD.

This paper reported a new method of Armillaria mellea isolation-Gastrodia elata tissue isolating. Compared with normal isolating method-rhizomorph isolating method, it showed that the success rate of new method (78% ) was higher than the rhizomorph isolating method (16% ) , besides this, the new method was easier, and growth characteristic of obtained strain was superior to that obtained from rhizomorph isolating method.

Objective To understand acute rejection differences between untreated recipients and rapmycin-treated recipients in a rat free flap allotransplantation model. Methods Brown groin free flaps were transplanted to Lewis recipients. In the treated group, recipients were treated with rapamycin at the dose of 4 mg/kg every day from day 0 to day 14 after transplantation. In the untreated group, recipients didn't receive any treatment. Allografts were evaluated clinically and histologically. Results Allografts in the treated group showed epidermolysis as sign of rejection.Rejection sign of untreated grafts was ischemic necrosis of whole skin. In histological evaluation, the treated grafts showed "band-like" lymphocytes infiltration in the upper dermis when rejection occurred, while the untreated grafts showed thrombosis in the subdermal vessels. Conclusion The differences between the two groups implied that embolization may be responsible for the rejection of free flap allotransplantation in rat model.

Bio-imaging System was applied for this quantitative analysis for exploring telomerase activity and its optimal reaction conditions.The method ensured that the optimal reaction conditions for the telomerase was 19℃,13minutes,at a concentration of 0.28 u g/? l.A quantitative analysis method was established for detecting telomerase activity in rice.With this method,we detected telomerase activity in roots,young leaves and young panicles of six parental lines of hybrid rice.The results show that young panicles have the highest telomerase activity,demonstrating that telomerase activity is closely related to the cell vitality in plants.
