4.Treatment method and timing for dacryocystitis in different months -old children

AIM: To explore the treatment method and timing for neonatal dacryocystitis in different month-old children.
●METHODS: A total of 180 children ( 207 eyes ) with dacryocystitis who were admitted to our hospital between Jan. 2010 and Dec. 2014 were selected as the study subjects. According to months of age, they were divided into <3 months old group (n=41, 45 eyes), 3-6 months old group (n=75, 91 eyes) and 6-12 months old group (n=64, 71 eyes). Three groups were respectively treated with lacrimal massage combined with antibiotics, lacrimal duct washing with pressure and lacrimal duct probing, etc. The curative effect was compared between different months old children with dacryocystitis. The cure rate was statistically analyzed. The mean times of treatment was recorded and the best time for treatment was summarized.
●RESULTS:1) Hasner valvular obstruction was common in different months old children, and the proportion was higher than that of children with nasolacrimal duct bony part obstruction (P<0. 05). The proportion of children with nasolacrimal duct bony part obstruction in 6 - 12 months old group was higher than that in <3 months old group and that in 3-6 months old group (P < 0. 05). The proportion of children with Hasner valvular obstruction was lower than that in<3 months old group and that in 3-6 months old group (P<0. 05); 2) the number of cured eyes in < 3 months old group was higher than that in 3-6 months old group and that in 6-12 months old group ( P<0. 05), and the number of cures eyes in 3-6 months old group was higher than that in 6-12 months old group ( P<0. 05);3) the effective rates of lacrimal duct washing with pressure in <3 months old group and 6-12 months old group were similar, lower than that in 3-6 months old group (P<0. 05); 4) the effective rates of lacrimal duct probing in the three group were higher than 90% ( P>0. 05);5) the times of treatment in 3-6 months old group and 6-12 months old group was more than that in <3 months old group (P<0. 05), and that in 6-12 months old group was more than that in 3-6 months old group ( P <0. 05).
● CONCLUSION: For < 3 months old children with dacryocystitis, conservative treatment like lacrimal massage should be preferred. For children without effect, lacrimal duct washing with pressure and lacrimal duct probing should be given; For 3-6 months old children, lacrimal duct washing with pressure is preferred, and for 6 - 12 months old children, lacrimal duct probing is recommended.
5.MiR-18 a and estrogen receptor alpha expression in single and multiple uterine fibroids

Objective To detect the expression of miR-18a and estrogen receptor alpha (ER alpha) in single and multiple uterine flesh tumor tissues, discuss the relationship between miR-18a and ER alpha, and their effect in single and multiple uterine fibroids.Methods The expression of miR-18a and ER alpha in single and multiple uterine fibroids tissue paraffin section were detected by in situ hybridization method and immunohistochemical method, respectively.And the correlation between the miR-18a and ER alpha were evaluated.Results The expression of ER alpha in multiple uterine fibroids group was significantly higher than that of single uterine fibroids tissues (P<0.05);while miR-18a was weaker than that of single uterine fibroids tissues(P <0.05).The correlation results showed that miR-18a expression was correlated negatively with ER alpha expression either in single(r =-0.4421) and multiple uterine fibroids(r =-0.4181).Conclusion The expression of miR-18a is low in multiple uterine fibroids, while ER alpha had high expression.miR-18a could bea new target for the treatment of multiple uterine fibroids.
6.Risk factors of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning

Objective To explore the risk factors of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning(AOPP). Method The patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning,admitted from September 2004 to August 2005,were retrospectively analyzed.The 87 patients were divided into groups according to the presence or absence of combined conditions including hypotension,hypoxemia or metabolic acidosis.Acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ)score was calculated.The chi-square test was used to examine the mortality between those groups.Results The total in-hospital mortality of 87 acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients was 21.8%.The mean APACHEⅡscore was(7.58?5.32)in the 68 survivors and(21.17~9.46)in the 19 dead,there were significant differences between the survivors and the dead(t=9.25,P20 was 65.2%(15/23),andit was 6.3% (4/64)in patients with APACHEII score

8. MicroRNA-7 silencing EGFR/PI3K pathway reverses the malignant phenotype of U251 glioma cells

Objective: To investigate the malignant phenotype of human glioma cells by microRNA-7 (miR-7) silencing epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/ phosphatidylinositol kinase-3 (PI3K) pathway. Methods: The human U251 glioma cells were transfected with pri-miR-7. The expression of miR-7 was analyzed by real-time fluorogenic quantitative-PCR (RFQ-PCR). The expressions of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), PI3K and AKT2 proteins were detected by immunocytochemistry and Western blotting. The cell growth curves were drawn, and the cell cycle distribution induced by miR-7 was determined by flow cytometry (FCM). The cell migration ability and tumorigenicity were detected by Transwell chamber assay and soft agar colony assay, respectively. Results: The result of RFQ-PCR showed that the expression level of miR-7 was up-regulated in human glioma cells transfected with pri-miR-7. The expression levels of EGFR, PI3K and AKT2 proteins were down-regulated in glioma U251 cells transfected with pri-miR-7 (P < 0.05). The cell proliferation rate was slowed down, and the proportion of S phase cells was reduced. The abilities of cell migration and soft agar colony formation of U251 cells transfected with pri-miR-7 were significantly reduced (P < 0.05). Conclusion: MiR-7 transfection can effectively silence the expressions of key members of EGFR/PI3K pathway and reverse the malignant phenotype of U251 cells and which is expected to become a new choice of glioma gene therapy. 9.Cranioplasty with Titanium mesh:110 case analysis

Objective To evaluate the cranioplasty with Titanium mesh.Methods Clinical studies of 110 cases who accepted cranioplasty with Titanium mesh (2000-2001) were reviewed retrospectively.Results A satisfactory moulding with no complication occurred in 91%(100/110). The most common recent complication of cranioplasty with Titanium was subcutaneous hematoma(19/110); the next was epidural hematoma(3/110), intracerebral hematoma(3/110) and brain contusion(1/110). 69 cases more than 1 year after cranioplasty were followed, no one appeared long term complications such as infection, exposure or mobilization of the mending material.Conclusion The results of cranioplasty with Titanium mesh are satisfactory, the recent complications of the operation are mainly related to incompletely hemostasis, the long term complication occurred rarely.
10.Effect of Early Intervention on Oligodendrocyte-Myelin Glycoprotein mRNA Expression of Neonatal Rats with Brain Injury Caused by Intrauterine Infection

Objective To observe the effect of early intervention on the oligodendrocyte-myelin glycoprotein(OMgp) mRNA expression of brain injury neonatal rats caused by intrauterine infection.Methods 1.Twenty-eight Wistar pregnant rats were randomly divided into 2 groups:lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-treated group and saline control group.Pregnant rats were consecutively injected with LPS (450 ?g?kg-1) or saline on the 18th gestation age.After birth,the placentas were taken out and made HE staining to observe intrauterine infection.2.Thirty neonatal rats in the saline control group and 55 rats in the LPS-treated group were randomly selected which were divided into intervention group (n=25) and no-intervention group (n=25).The second post-natal day (P2) rats in intervention group were treated by early touch and enriched environment.The neonatal rats in the no-intervention group and saline control group were fed in a routine way.Five cases of P1 rats were selected respectively from the LPS-treated group and saline control group,and brain tissue pathological section was made to observe the condition of brain injury.3.Five cases of P1,P3,P7,P28 and P42 rats were selected from the saline control group,intervention group and no-intervention group to detect the OMgp mRNA expression levels by using the real time polymerase chain reaction me-thod.Results 1.There were a great number of neurophilic granulocytes in the placentas in the LPS-treated group.2.Brain tissue pathological of P1 in the saline control group had complete substantia alba structure,ordered disposition and lightly stained clear chromatospherite.While in the LPS-treated group, there existed brain tissue looseness,colloid cell aggregation and oligodendrocyte cytoreduction in the position of substantia alba,callositas and capsula interna.Intraventricular hemorrhage,substantia alba blood vessel dilatation and blood capillary angiorrhexis and hemorrhage could also be found.3.There was a higher increase in OMgp mRNA expressions of brain tissue in the LPS-treated group at P1,P3,P7,P28,P42 than those in the saline control group (Pa
