Objective To explore the relationship between apolipoprotein E ( ApoE ) genotype and diabetic nephropathy (DN) in Chinese Han population of Guangdong province. Methods 63 cases of DN patients were selected as group A; 57 diabetes patients without complications as group B; 55 healthy persons as group C. ApoE genotype of all objects were measured. Results ApoE2 in the group A was the highest, while the differences in other groups were not obvious. Detection of ApoE3 and ApoE4 was not obvious in three groups. The Level of triglyceride (TG) was highest inε2 group, and the level of total cholesterol (TC) and low density lipoprotein LDL-C were highest in ε4 groups. Conclusions In Chinese Han population of Guangdong province , ApoE gene polymorphism and DN are closely interrelated , and the occurrence ofε2 is proportionate to DN.

AIM: To study the clinical characteristics of corneal perforation ( CP) .
METHODS:A retrospective analysis in July 1995 to July 2010 the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University diagnosed CP 72 patients ( 72 eyes ) , clinical characteristics of all the patients were analyzed.
RESULTS: The incidence of corneal ulcer perforation rised year by year, the morbidity of male and female was 17:7, the onset age focused on 48 years old. Of 23 industrial workers ( 32%) with clear history of trauma, pathogeny identification results:top two:fungal infection and Acanthamoeba keratitis. A using history of glucocorticoid was found in 10 cases.
CONCLUSION:There are plenty of primary causes of CP such as traumas, fungal infection, Acanthamoeba keratitis, eroded keratitis, etc. CP happens in middle-aged males in Fujian province, most traumas are the causes, the main pathogenic bacteria is fungal infection.

AIM:To study the effect of posterior sub - Tenon's capsule injection of triamcinolone acetonide ( TA ) in treatment of patients with diffuse diabetic macular edema ( DME) before panretinal photocoagulation ( PRP) .
METHODS:Retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 96 cases (96 eyes) with DME treated in our hospital from October 2008 to May 2012, and the patients were divided into the study group and control group, each group with 48 cases ( 48 eyes ) , the control group were only treated with PRP, and for the study group, TA was injected one week before PRP. At 6mo after treatment, best-corrected visual acuity ( BCVA) and retinal thickness changes of two groups were compared, the changes of intraocular pressure in two groups was analyzed.
RESULTS:After treatment, two groups were followed up for 6mo, compared with before treatment, the expression of BCVA in control group was reduced, and rise in the study group, with significant difference between the two groups (P<0. 05), and during the follow-up period, IOP change was in the normal range for the two groups, with no the difference (P>0. 05), the study group had foveal thickness reduction of 9. 6μm, the control group was increased by 31. 9μm, with significant difference (P<0. 05), parafoveal thickness in the study group decreased 5μm, significantly increased 22. 1μm in the study group, centre concave surrounding thickness increased 0. 4μm in study group and 19. 4μm for the control group, with no significant difference (P>0. 05).CONCLUSION:TA injection in patients with diffuse DME before PRP is safe and effective, and it is superior to simple PRP therapy, and it can be applied in primary hospital.

AIM: To investigate the alterations of tear film after sutureless large incision manual cataract extraction (SLIMCE). METHODS: Sixty-eight SLIMCE operation eyes were studied with slit-limp microscope, break- up time (BUT), SchirmmerⅠtest (SⅠt),and fluorescence(FL) to observe the alterations of tear film at different time points in postoperation. Impression cytology and microphoto-analyses technique were also applied to observe the goblet cells at different time points postoperation(7,14,30,60,90 days). RESULTS: Subjective complaint of dry eye within 90 days after the operations were significantly increased compare with preoperations(5-27,23,19,16,13; 2-16,14,8,6,3). The schirmmer Ⅰ test were greatly increased in 14 days postoperation(10.1±4.5;15.0±4.7,13.8±5.7),the mean scores of fluorescence increased (0-17,9,5;0-8,3,1) and the mean break-up time decreased in 30 days post-operation(10.3±2.2;5.5±2.3,7.0±2.4,7.9±2.2) (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: SLIMCE operation have effect on the stability of tear film.

Objective To explore the relationship between cough variant asthma (CVA) and mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection. Methods Fifty children with CVA were chosen as the experimental group at random, and 50 children with acute upper respiratory infection, who went to the hospital in the same time and with similar age, were chosen as control group. The MP-IgM of children in both groups were tested by the granule agglutinating method. Results Significant difference (? 2=9.013 P

Objective To evaluate the effects of B-Lynch suture for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony, and to clarify its influence on long-term fertility and next pregnancy outcome. Methods We retrospectively collected the medical records of 150 women who underwent B-Lynch suture during cesarean section due to intra-operative bleeding caused by uterine atony from January 1,2006 to December 31,2013 in Peking University First Hospital.Follow-up was carried out to assess postoperative menstruation and subsequent pregnancy outcomes. Results All the cases underwent B-Lynch suture which successfully retained the uterus.Satisfactory hemostasis was achieved in 131 women (87.3%) who underwent B-Lynch suture only, and in eighteen women (12.0%) who had bilateral uterine artery ascending branch ligation at the same time;and in one patient (0.7%) who underwent B-Lynch suture and uterine artery embolization four hours later due to poor uterine contraction.Of the 141 (94.0%) cases followed up after surgery, menstrual cycle was assessed in a total of 104 women:no changes in the menstrual cycle and bleeding volume were noted in 67 cases (64.4%),prolonged menstruation was observed in five cases (4.8%),menorrhagia in ten cases (9.6%),and hypomenorrhea in 22 cases (21.2%).Eleven women (23.9%) became pregnant and delivered in two to four years after the surgery, and all were full-term abdominal delivery. Conclusions B-Lynch suture is a simple, safe, and effective treatment for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony, without significant change of menstruation.B-Lynch suture is not associated with infertility, and the postoperative pregnant outcome is good.

Objective To evaluate the differential diagnostic value and superior of biliary atresia(BA)in the infants with cholestatic hepatopathy by high-frequency ultrasonography (HUS).Methods After 4 hours fasting,124 infants with cholestatic hepatopathy were scanned with high-frequency US.The data of hepatic size and parenchyma, gallbladder, triangular cord (TC) sign, bile duct, right hepatic artery (RHA)and portal vein (PV) were observed and measured.Meanwhile, the other data were collected, which included the clinical diagnosis, blood biochemical tests, the MRCP and dynamic duodenal liquid color check finding, the pathological results after liver puncture biopsy and so on.Results In 124 infants with cholestatic hepatopathy,BA was found in 61 infants and ruled out in 63.TC thickness,RHA diameter, and gallbladder length and width exhibited significant differences between the group with BA and the group non-BA(all P <0.001).The correctness for the diagnosis of BA was 90.3% by the combination of TC sign and abnormal gallbladder morphology, and 83.1 % by stool color,81.5 % by γ-GT,47.5 % by MRCP,83.3 % by dynamic duodenal liquid color check,95.2% by the pathology after liver puncture biopsy, respectively. Conclusions HUS is superior to other diagnostic methods in BA with higher accuracy rate, noninvasion, simplicity and economy.
