Recent studies show that post-activation depression is highly correlated with the severity of spasticity in patients with stroke or cerebral palsy, which may be potentially used in the evaluation of spasticity. This article reviewed the concept, mechanism and related factors of post-activation depression.

Objective To investigate the protective effect and possible mechanism of amentoflavone (AF) on bone marrow cells of mice injured by irradiation. Methods Primary bone marrow cells of male C57BL/6 mice were cultured and randomly divided into 4 groups (normal control, radiation control,AF 2.5 μmol/L and 5 μmol/L), with 3 samples in each group. After treated with AF for 12 h, the cells were injured by 12 Gy⁶⁰Co γ irradiation. 6 h and 12 h post-irradiation, apoptosis was evaluated by using Hoechst 33258 stain, cell cycle was determined by flow cytometry while the level of TNF-α was tested by ELISA. Results The cell cycle arrest and apoptosis were not significantly affected by Amentoflavone. Amentoflavone 5 μmol L) could significantly inhibit the production of TNF- α on cell supernatant of mouse bone marrow cells at 6 h or 12 h after radiation and 2.5 μmol/L Amentoflavone could significantly inhibit the production of TNF- α at 6 h after radiation. Conclusion Taken together, the data suggest that AF may have radioprotection against damage in mice bone marrow by inhibiting the production of TNF-α.

Gene targeted mutagenesis and replacement can be used to modify gene sequence in genomic background without position effect or insertion inactivation in transgenic plants. Targeted mutagenesis organism has little biosafety concerns free of transgenes or marker genes. Gene targeted mutagenesis and replacement in high plants now appears to be a potential tool for gene functional analysis in situ, crops genetic improvement and molecular design. Zinc finger nuclease(ZFN)is most important and would be widely used in gene targeted mutagenesis and replacement through introducing double-strand breaks in genome. Strategies for gene targeted mutagenesis and replacement in plants is discussed. ZFN is described in detail from its structure, operation model and application in plants. Developmental prospect of ZFN in plant gene targeted mutagenesis and replacement is also discussed.

Objective To explore the effect of Botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A) injected into the contralateral facial muscle on central facial palsy post stroke. Methods 30 stroke patients with moderate to severe central facial palsy were recruited (course of 3~10 months). They were divided into control group (n=15) and treatment group (n=15), who accepted facial training and BTX-A injection in addition, respectively.The bilateral deference of distance from angulus oris to the midline of the teeth(D1) and from the paropia to the angulus oris (D2) were measured before and 4 weeks after injection. Results The D1 and D2 both at resting and movement all decreased after injection in the treatment group, and decreased more than those in the control group. Conclusion BTX-A injection can further correct central facial palsy post stroke.

AIM: To explore the effect of hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy for severe corneal edema after cataract surgery.METHODS: Totally 68 patients (68 eyes) with severe corneal edema after phacoemulsification were selected from January 2014 to December 2015 in our hospital, who were aged 53-80(64.45±4.24), including 30 males and 38 females.According to different treatment, they were divided into treatment group (34 cases) given conventional therapy + hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy, the control group (34 cases) given conventional treatment + hypertonic sugar eyes drops.Visual acuity and corneal situation were observed during the treatment.RESULTS: Corneal edema fade time of treatment group was 11.62+0.53d, that of control group was 15.23±0.62d, the difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05).Preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and corneal endothelial cell count had no significantly difference between the two groups while the corneal endothelial cell count were significantly different compared with postoperative of the two groups (P<0.05).At 7d after treatment, the BCVA and corneal endothelial cell count had significantly difference between the two groups (P<0.05), which did not have significant difference at 1mo after treatment (P>0.05).The effective rates of the two groups was significantly different (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Hypertonic sugar eyes drops with local to the oxygen therapy is effective for severe corneal edema after cataract surgery.

AlM: To explore the visual evoked potential in infantile orbital cellulitis' clinical applications by monitoring the visual evoked potential changes in infantile orbital cellulitis before, during and after treatment.
METHODS:Twenty-three cases of CT diagnosed single orbital cellulitis were examined by the visual evoked potentials. The affected eyes as observation group, and healthy eyes as control group. Comparative observation of visual evoked potential changes in amplitude and incubation period before, during and after the treatment. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the observation group's visual evoked potential changes included reduced amplitude, extended incubation period. With the treatment progress, the observation group had gradual increase in amplitude, gradual reduction in incubation period.
CONCLUSlON: ln infantile orbital cellulitis, the use of visual evoked potentials is a simple, feasible and effective method to monitoring the visual function during the treatment.

Objective To study the effects of matrine on accumulation of ? globin mRNA and induction of erythroid differentiation in K562 cells in vitro.Methods K562 cells were cultured for 6 days with different concentration of matrine,viable cell counts were determined by trypan-blue dye exdusion test. Erythroid differentiation was evaluated by percentage of benzidine-positive cells at different days after culture. Morphological changes were observed under microscope after Wright-Gimesa staining; ? globin mRNA was quantitative by real time quantitative reverse transcript polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Different concentrations of matrine inhibited proliferation of K562 cells in dose-dependent manner; otherwise, K562 cells were successfully induced by erythroid differentiation with matrine. After treatment with matrine, percentage of benzidine-positive cells significantly increased from 0.7% to 15.7% and characteristic changes of erythroid differentiation in the cell morphology were observed, G? globin mRNA had a preferential increase (2.7 fold)in K562 cells. Conclusions Matrine accumulation G? globin mRNA and induced erythroid differentiation of K562 cells. The results provides an experimental evidence for the pharmacological therapy of hematological diseases associated with a failure in the expression of normal ? globin genes.
