Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(07):-
Objective To know the current state of environment pollution in the surrounding of the smelteries of gold and silver with indigenous method and provide a reference for the environment pollution control. Methods The occupational and environmental hygiene investigation were conducted during Apr.-Jul.,2000,the level of arsenic in the samples collected from the surrounding of the smelteries was determined. Results Primitive gold-silver smelting had such problems as backward production processes, the irrational distribution of enterprises,no treatment of “the three wastes” and serious harm to the ecological environment. The concentrations of both arsenic and lead in the environmental medium were heavily over the standard limits and some patients with chronic arsenic poisoning were found among the local residents. Conclusion Primitive gold-silver smelting may produce serious environmental pollution which can induce the health impacts of the local people.

Objective:To evaluate the biological functions and underlying mechanisms of transcription factor PAX5 in promoting cell proliferation and anti-apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells. Methods:a PAX5 knockdown cell line was established by stable transfection of vector-based PAX5-siRNA into multiple myeloma IM9 cells. The expressing level of PAX5,p53,XBP-1 and c-Myc was examined by either or both Western blot and RT-PCR for the targets.Cell proliferation and apoptosis were assayed by MTT and flow cytometry,respectively.Results:PAX5 was expressed selectively in IM9 cells, but neither in another common used multiple myeloma KAS6 cells nor in the prostate cancer cells DU145 and PC3.Knockdown PAX5 led to a significant up-regulation of p53 and XBP1,but decreased c-Myc expressions in IM9 cells that were correlated with the increased sensitivity of drug-induced apoptosis and decreased proliferation rates when compared to the control cells.Conclusion:PAX5 is specifically expressed in IM9 cells, which promotes cell proliferation and anti drug-induced apoptosis. In addition to inhibiting the expression of p53 and XBP-1,PAX5 is found to induce expression of oncogene c-Myc in IM9 cells, and this finding indicates an undiscovered signal pathway that may contributes to the malignancy of Multiple Myeloma cells.

Objective The TiO2 nanotube arrays, fabricated on the surface of orthopedics, was characterized,to provide carrier for orthopedics plant surface modification or coating, and seek a new way for the prevention and treatment of orthopedics plant infection. Methods By adjusting certain parameters,TiO2 nanotube arrays were fabricated on orthopedic titanium plate surface using the method of anodic oxidation, with glycerol system as electrolyte, orthopedics titanium plate as anode, and platinum electrode as cathode.TiO2 nanotube arrays were characterized. The element composition of TiO2 nanotube arrays was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),and the morphological changes of TiO2 nanotube arrays was observed at high temperature (300 ℃) by X-ray diffractomer (XRD).Results With glycerol system as electrolyte,TiO2 nanotube array with diameter of about 100 to 200 nm and the length less than 3μm can be fabricated on orthopedic titanium plate surface using anodic oxidation of 24 h.The surface of orthopedic titanium plate was changed from silver white to deep blue in the macroscopic view. The TiO2 nanotube array on orthopedics titanium plate surface was mainly composed of Ti element (75.88%),O element (20.16%),and F element (3.96%) by XPS analysis.TiO2 nanotube arrays morphology was stable when it was heated to 300 ℃ by muffle furnace. Conclusions The method of anodic oxidation can be applied to manufacture TiO2 nanotubes array on titanium plate surface. The array with stable morphology, the inner hollow shape, the bottom sealing, and a large specific surface area, can withstand high temperature, which can provide carrier for orthopedics plant surface modification or coating.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2017;42(3):334-339
Substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are the neuropeptides released from the sensory nerve endings.Neuropeptides play a role in bone and the relevant organs. It exerts functions in regulation of the bone metabolism, fracture healing and pain by a certain way.The biological properties and distributions of SP and CGRP are closely related to the pathogenesis and development of bone metabolism, fracture healing and pain.
