China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(9):1783-1786
An HPLC method was established to simultaneously determine the five sesquiterpene lactones, carabrone, carabrol, 2-desoxy-4-epi-pulchellin, telekinand 11(13)-dehydroivaxillin in Carpesium abrotanoides. Samples were analyzed on a kromasil C18 column (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 µm); mobile phase: A was acetonitrile, B was water, with gradient elution; flow speed: 1.0 mL · min(-1); detection was carried out using a photodiode array detector at 211 nm; temperatureof column: 30 °C. The five sesquiterpene lactones were well separated with good linear correlations in the range of 0.270-2.700 (r = 0.999 7 ), 1.336-13.360 (r = 0.999 6), 0.258-2.580 (r = 0.999 7), 0.238-2.380 (r = 0.999 9), 0.490-4.900 µg (r = 0.999 9) for carabrone, carabrol, 2-desoxy-4-epi-pulchellin, telekin and 11 (13) -dehydroivaxillin. The average recoveries of these five sesquiterpene lactoneswere 96.78%-98.41% (RSD 1.3%-2.9%). The method was simple, repeatable and stable, which could be used for quality control of C. abrotanoide.

Objective To study the CT diagnosis and differential diagnsis of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)in neonates. Methods 55 cases who had clear history of asphyxia in perinatal period and had clinical symptoms were scanned with CT.The complete clinical materials and CT data were analyzed. Results The clinical and CT grades were conducted according to references. The results showed that there was difference between CT grades and clinical manifestation.Subarachnoid hemorrhage was the most common complication. The density of the lesions was significantly different from that in normal sites. Conclusion In the CT diagnosis of HIE,clinical data and anatomical structure of neonates are both critical for the correct diagnosis.

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) co-infected patients in Beijing and investigate the associated factors. Methods:The clinical data of patients with HIV infection who were treated in HIV/AIDS designated hospitals (Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Ditan Hospital and Beijing Youan Hospital) were retrospectively analyzed. Results:A total of 11 572 patients were finally included in the study, among whom 532 patients (4.6%) were co-infected with HIV and HBV. Most of the co-infected patients were young male adults (28~48 years old), accounting for 85.9%. The main transmission route was homosexual behavior (74.8%). There were 87.4% co-infected patients treated with two anti-HBV drugs, including lamivudine (3TC) and tenofovir (TDF). From 2013 to 2018, the annual prevalence of HIV and HBV co-infection decreased gradually, with the rate of 6.37%, 4.55%, 3.92%, 4.68%, 4.24% and 2.74%, respectively. In our study, The main influencing factors of HIV and HBV co-infection were age older than 28 years old versus<28 years old ( OR=2.807, 95% CI 1.241-6.345) and marriage status (married versus unmarried, OR=1.259, 95% CI 1.004-1.579). Conclusions:The proportion of HBV infection in HIV-infected patients is 4.60% (532) in our cohort. From 2013 to 2018, the prevalence of HIV and HBV co-infection in Beijing shows a decreasing trend. The risk of co-infection is higher in married young adults (28~48 years old).

Objective:To construct the Helicobacter pylori infected C57BL/6 mice model to observe the activation of NOD1/NF-κB signaling pathways in the gastric tissues, and study its roles in inflammatory response during Hp infection.Methods:6-8 week-old C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups, the Hp infection group and the control group, and mice were given by gavage every 48 h for five times with Hp or PBS,respectively. All the animals were sacrificed at different time point and the gastric tissue were stained with hematoxylin-eosin( HE);The mRNA expression of NOD1 and RIP2 in gastric tissues were examined by RT-PCR;Levels of IFN-βand IP-10 in mice serum were assessed by ELISA;Nuclear translocation of p65 in gastric tissue was detected by Western blot. Results:Hp infection elicits an inflammatory cell response, glands in gastric tissue were reduced or atrophic,as compared with that in the control group. The levels of IP-10 and IFN-βincreased in the model group, and peaked at 16 weeks after Hp infection.Hp infection increased the mRNA expression of NOD1 and the p65 content in nuclear between 24-120 h(P<0.05),and the highest level at 48 h,subsequently the expression levels were began to decrease. The mRNA expression level of RIP2 was up-regulated after Hp was administrated, peaked at 48 h and declined after 72 h.However, the expression levels would rise again at 120 h.Conclusion: Hp infection can activate the NOD1/NF-κB signaling pathways and induce the production of IFN-βand IP-10 in gastrics of mice.

To study the chemical constituents from Zanthoxylum simulans and their anti-inflammatory activity. The constituents of Z. simulans were isolated and purified using various column chromatographies. Their chemical structures were elucidated using extensive spectroscopic methods. The compounds were assayed inhibitory activity against NO production in LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Four compounds were obtained from the ethanol extract of Z. simulans and determined to be isozanthpodocarpin B(1), kobusin (2), (+)-fargesin (3), and epieudesmin (4). Compound 1 exhibited NO production inhibitory effect with IC50 value of 14.49 µmol · L(-1). Compound 1 is a new dimeric lignan and may be serve as potential anti-inflammatory agent in the future.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(4):730-734
Sleep quality is closely related to human health. It is very important to correctly discriminate the sleep stages for evaluating sleep quality, diagnosing and analyzing the sleep-related disorders. Polysomnography (PSG) signals are commonly used to record and analyze sleep stages. Effective feature extraction and representation is one of the most important steps to improve the performance of sleep stage classification. In this work, a collaborative representation (CR) algorithm was adopted to re-represent the original extracted features from electroencephalogram sig- nal, and then the kernel entropy component analysis (KECA) algorithm was further used to reduce the feature dimension of CR-feature. To evaluate the performance of CR-KECA, we compared the original feature, CR feature and readied CR feature (CR-PCA) after principal component analysis (PCA). The experimental results of sleep stage classification indicated that the CR-KECA method achieved the best performance compared with the original feature, CR feature, and CR-PCA feature with the classification accuracy of 68.74 +/- 0.46%, sensitivity of 68.76 +/- 0.43% and specificity of 92.19 +/- 0.11%. Moreover, CR algorithm had low computational complexity, and the feature dimension after KECA was much smaller, which made CR-KECA algorithm suitable for the analysis of large-scale sleep data.
