Objective To establish the rat model of experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and to detect the expression of ADAMTS-4 in early brain injury(EBI) after SAH in rats .Methods Totally 72 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups ,the control group and SAH group .The expression of ADAMTS-4 and the content of brain Evans Blue(EB) were detected . The ADAMTS-4 inhibitor α2-macroglobulin was used to study the relationship between the expression of ADAMTS-4 and blood-brain barrier permeability .Results The expression of the mRNA and protein of ADAMTS-4 increased dramatically at 24 h and the contents of EB increased progressively at 12 h after SAH .The protein expression of ADAMTS-4 and the content of brain EB was positive correlated(r=0 .917 ,P<0 .05) .The expression of ADAMTS-4 was inhibited by α2-macroglobulin(P<0 .05) and the con-tents of EB decreased dramatically (P<0 .05) .Conclusion ADAMTS-4 may be involved in the pathological progression of early brain injury after SAH .

Object To select the endophytic fungi which produce vincristine by isolating fungi from the leaves of Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don. Methods The endophytic fungi were isolated from the leaves of C. roseus and the zymotic extracts were analyzed by TLC and HPLC. Results An endophytic fungus which is Mycelia sterilia 97CY_3 can produce vincristine. The content of vincristine in the fungus was determined as 0.205 ?g/L by HPLC. Conclusion Some endophytic fungi isolated from C. roseus can produce the anticancer substance vincristine which is the same as that of host plant producing.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) can be enhanced and differentiates into all kinds of neural cells and produce several kinds of neural growth factors in vitro, and have been used to treat several kinds of neural diseases and they showed satisfactory outcomes. It is now a research focus to optimize the culture conditions to induce the stem cell to differentiate into neural cells. On the other hand, it also becomes a focus of its amplification and differentiation. OBJECTIVE: To make a review on researches on treating brain lesion, genetic defection or degenerating diseases using PBSCs during recent years.METHODS: Researching Pubmed database(1999-01/2009-09), using "peripheral blood stem cell, neural, repair" as research words and these Chinese words in CNKI database(1999-01/2009-09). RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: 221 articles were collected altogether including 41 Chinese articles and 180 English articles. Totally 27 articles were adapted altogether after rejecting published early, repeat and similar articles. PBSCs can be enhanced and differentiates into all kinds of neural cells in vitro, and delivered into central neural system and improve the function of lesion neural area. It is not fully understood the differentiation mechanism of peripheral blood stem cells, but numerous studies have shown that surface marker antigen of peripheral blood stem cells is closely associated with its biological characteristics. There are many studies addressing surface marker of peripheral blood stem cells, but researchers cannot identify a reliable marker that can directly label peripheral blood stem cells. Function of CD34 remains unclear, so the principle of CD34 as a marker of hematopoietic stem cells receives challenge. It is necessary to do further researches on issues on how to enhance survival rate of PBSCs in vivo and the tendency to differentiate into neural cells.

Objective To provide anatomical evidence for the repair of wounds of finger distal phalanx,espe-cially for the recovery of feeling. Methods 10 samples of fresh adult hand were dissected under microscope. The course, branches, distribution and external diameter of nerves and blood vessels in finger distal phalanx and morpho-logical relationship between nerves and vessels were measured. Results Proper palmar digital nerves mostly step over digital arteries at section starts of distal finger arterial arcades and go to finger pulps and latero-backs. Their thinks di-vide into 2 branches. Transverse diameters of interior and exterior branches are 0.8 ~ 1.2 mm and 0.9 ~ 1.4 mm re-spectively at liner semilunaris levels. Distributionsof left and right branches are reciprocal chiasmas. Conclusion Finger nerve mostly ramifies to finger pulp, finger tip and finger back at the level of phalangette bottom. Its branches are lower and thinner than concomitant arteries. The suitable anatomy region for anastomosis of nerves and blood ves-sels is the middle1/3 section from the distal interphalangeal joint to the nail during replanation of amputated finger pa-ratelum.

ObjectiveTo identify and confirm a novel HLA allele in a Chinese individual.MethodsA new HLA allele was found during routine HLA genotyping by polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific oligonucleotide probes (PCR-SSOP) and sequencing-based typing (SBT).ResultsThe new sequence differs from HLA-B * 40:01:01 by two nucleotide substitutions in exon 2 at positions 103 (G>T) and 106 (A>G) ; These mutations result in two codon changes:at codon 35 (GCC>TCC) where an alanine (A) is substituted by a serine(S) and at codon 36(ATG>GTG) where a methionine(M) is substituted by a valine (V).ConclusionA novel HLA allele,HLA-B * 40:74,was identified, and was named officially by the WHO Nomenclature Committee (HWS10004518 - EF458488).

Objective To compare biomechanical effects of augmentative plating assisted by different types and numbers of intramedullary nails in the treatment of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after intramedullary nailing. Methods Twenty-five specimens of synthetic femur were randomly divided into an experimental group (20 bones) and a control group (5 bones). All the bones were made into models of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after intramedullary nailing. The control group was subjected to no augmentative plating. The experimental group was further divided into 4 subgroups (n =5) which were subjected to fixation respectively by:a 7-hole plate with 3 bicortical screws on each side,a 7-hole plate with 3 unicortical screws on each side,a 5-hole plate with 2 bicortical screws on each side, and a 5-hole plate with 2 unicortical screws on each side. The torque values of all the subgroups were measured and compared when the models were subjected to torsional angles of 5°,10°,15°,20° and 25°.Results The anti-torsional strengths at torsional angles of 5°,10°,15°,20° and 25° in the 4 experimental groups were all significantly greater than in the control group(P < 0.05).At a torsion angle of 25°,the mean torque value in the 3-bicortical-screw group (46.51 ±6.66 nm) was significantly greater than in the 2-bicortical-screw group (39.03 ±8.52 nm) (P <0.05).At torsion angles of 5°,10°and 25°,the mean torque values in the 3-unicortical-screw group (13.48±1.68 nm,23.29±3.72 nm and 48.19±5.34 nm,respectively) were significantly greater than in the 3-unicortical-screw group (9.56 ± 3.62 nm,16.99 ± 5.49 nm and 38.69 ± 6.56 nm,respectively) (P < 0.05).At torsion angles of 20° and 25°,the mean torque values in the 3-unicortical-screw group (39.15 ± 5.07 nm and 48.19 ± 5.34 nm) were significantly greater than in the 2-bicortical-screwgroup (32.50 ± 5.65 nm and 39.03 ± 8.52 nm) (P <0.05).Conclnsions The anti-torsional strength of fixation by 3 screws on each side is significantly greater than by 2 screws on each side. When the number of screws is the same, there is no significant difference between fixation by unicortical locking screws and that by bicortical conventional screws.Augmentative plating with 3 unicortical screws or 3 bicortical conventional screws on each side is recommended for treatment of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after intramedullary nailing.
