Objective To study the effect of the serum contained Radix Astragali, Hirudo or their compound on the growth cycle and apoptosis of rat mesangial cells (MC).Methods The serum contained the extract of high-concentration of Hirudo, the serum contained the extract of high-concentration of Radix Astragali, and the serum contained the extract of high-concentration of Hirudo and the extract of low-concentration of Radix Astragali were prepared. The cultured MC were measured by flow cytometer to observe the changes in their growth cycle and apoptosis. The morphological changes of apoptotic cells were observed. Results The medicinal serums can keep the most MC in the stage of G0/G1, and the significant difference was existing in comparison with that of the control group (P

Objective:To investigate effect of the serum contained Radix Astragali, Hirudo, Hirudin and the compounding of these two herbs respectively on the growth cycle and apoptosis of rats' glomerular mesangial cells(GMCs)and observe the morphology of apoptosis. Methods: The growth cycle and apoptosis of GMCs was measured by flow cytometer. Meanwhile morphous of apoptosis was visualized by Wright's staining and observed by microscope. Results: The serum contained Radix Astragali, Hirudo, Hirudin and the compounding respectively can keep most GMCs in the stage of G0/G1,and it had a significant deviation compared with the control(P

AIM To investigate the influences of Astragalus and Hurido effective components on apoptosis of rat glomerular mesangial cells.METHODS The proliferation of rat mesangial cells was induced by LPS and then intervened with Astragalus (astragalus polysaccharide, astragaloside Ⅳ,calycosin) and Hurido (hirudin). The cells were collected after 24 h.4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining was used to observe cell nuclear changes.Quantitative and qualitative expressions of Bcl-2 were detected by streptavidin-biotin complex (SABC).RESULTS Astragalus and Hurido effective components could induce the apoptosis of rat glomerular mesangial cells, and decrease the expression of Bcl-2.CONCLUSION Astragalus and Hurido effective components can induce the mesangial cell apoptosis by down-regulating Bcl-2 expression, which can be used for the treatment of mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the short-course and efficient way to treat mumps meningitis.
METHODSTotally 155 cases of mumps meningitis treated by intrathecal injection with dexamethasone only once were enrolled as experimental group and 55 similar cases treated with the common therapy as control.
RESULTSThe time for recoveries of temperature, headache, the pathologic reflexes and the total time of treatment were 32 hours, 15 hours, 12 hours and 3.1 days, respectively, while those of the control group were 58 hours, 24 hours, 32 hours, 6.5 days respectively. There was statistical difference between the two groups (P<0.01 or 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSIntrathecal injection with dexamethasone only once is efficient and safe in the treatment of mumps meningitis.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of microsurgical resection combined with preoperative interventional embolization in the treatment of solid intracranial hemangioblastomas, and to analyze the effect of pre-operative embolization on tumor resection, and to discuss the surgical technique and perioperative management of mi-crosurgery. Methods From September, 2010 to September, 2015, the clinical signs, preoperative embolization, mi-crosurgery and prognosis of 18 patients with solid hemangioblastomas were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were examined by CTA and MRI,18 patients underwent DSA tumor arterial embolization and tumor microsurgery. Results The tumor diameter was 2.5-4.0 cm, the proportion of preoperative embolization tumor was 100% in 4 cases, 80% -95% in 9 cases,60%-70% in 3 cases and 60% in 2 cases.16 cases(88.9%)were subtotal tumors,2 cases(11.1%) were subtotal resection, 1 case died. No patients with intraoperative blood transfusion.followed up for 2 years without tumor recurrence. Conclusion The risk of postoperative hemangioblastomas is high, and the intervention of em-bolization for tumor artery will reduce the risk of operation.Microsurgery is the preferred treatment, and skilled micro-surgery is the key to treatment.

Microbial communities of fermented foods have provided a tool for humans to preserve and develop flavor for long history. And they can also provide opportunities to study microbial community formation because of their reproducible and easy-to-manipulate feature. Dry-cured ham is one of the traditional fermented products. Some of the compounds produced during the hydrolysis and oxidation of proteins and fats in ham processing form a distinctive flavor of ham. Many microbes are involved in this process and biochemical reactions. In this review, we describe the ham microbial communities in different regions and their role in the formation of ham quality, and prospect the future research of ham microbiology.

Objective To identify the effect of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) on the survival of patients with recurrent pancreatic cancer after surgery. Methods The data of 104 patients with recurrent pancreatic cancer after surgery who underwent SBRT in the Department of Radiation Oncology of Changhai Hospital,Navy Medical University from February 2012 to December 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. The prescription doses ranged from 35-40 Gy/4-8 f.Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method, and relevant factors affecting patients' survival were screened by the Cox proportional hazards model. Results The median overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) was 12.5 (11.0-14.0) months and 7.3 (6.0-8.7) months, respectively, while the 1-year rate of OS and PFS was 55.8% and 22.1%,respectively.Multivariate analysis indicated that tumor stage, biological effect dose (α/β =10,BED10),the decrease of CA19-9 level after treatment, and follow-up chemotherapy were all related factors affecting overall survival;tumor stage,BED10,the degree of pain relief and the decrease of CA19-9 level after treatment were related factors affecting PFS.Conclusions Patients suffering recurrent pancreatic cancer with early tumor stage, normal CA19-9 level and mild pain before treatment could be better treated by SBRT,BED10 ≥60 Gy and follow-up chemotherapy after radiotherapy can prolong the survival of patients.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for very elderly patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods The clinical data of a total of 149 patients aged from 75 to 90 years with locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer treated by SBRT in Changhai Hospital from January 2012 to December 2016 were retrospectively reviewed.Prescription doses ranged from 3.6-9Gy/fractions,and the total doses were 19.5-49Gy in 3-8 fractions. The level of serum cancer antigen 19-9(CA19-9) before and 3 months after treatment was compared and the radiotherapy biological effective dose (BED10) was calculated. The adverse events of the radiotherapy were observed.Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were recorded through follow-up,and the factors influencing the patients' survival were investigated by univariate and multivariate analysis. Results All the patients' median OS and PFS were 12.9and 8.3 months,respectively.One-year OS and PFS rate were 55.9% and 19.5%,respectively.Tumor stage and the decrease of CA19-9 levels >50% at 3 months after treatment and BED10 were independent factors of OS and PFS.No grade 3 or higher toxicities were recorded in all the patients. Conclusions SBRT is safe and effective for very elderly patients with locally advanced or medically inoperable pancreatic cancer.Tumor stage, the decrease of CA19-9 levels after treatment and BED10 were associated with prognosis.
