Objective :To explore the curative effect of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) and the factors associ-ated with surgery effect for treating children with chronic sinusitis. Method :Thirty-one children with a medianage of 10 years (range 5～14 years) who suffered from chronic sinusitis or/and nasal polyps and were operatedvia ESS from May 1996 to January 1999 were retrospectively analyzed. Result:According to the therapeutic evalu-ation standard (ESS-199 7, Haikou ), twelve cases (38.7 ％ ) were completely cured, fifteen cases (48.4 ％0 ) wereinproved and four children (12.9 ％ ) showed no change with a general effective rate of 87.1 ％00 without any severeoperative complication. Conclusion:The results suggested ESS is a safe and effective method in the treatment ofchildren with chronic sinusitis or/and nasal polyps. Furthermore, meticulous postoperative endoscopic care andmedication are also important for securing optimal long-term results.

Objective To investigate the clinical features,diagnosis and treatment of pure redcell aplasia cased by human parvovirus B19 infection after renal transplantation.Method The clinical data including clinical symptoms and physical signs,laboratory and pathological examinations and outcomes of treatment in 8 cases at our hospital from Aug.2011 to Mar.2012 were analyzed retrospective,and relative literatures were reviewd.Result Pure red-cell aplasia occurred in all 8 cases 1 to 3 months after kidney transplantation,and one case had recurremt pure red-cell aplasia.The manifestations including recurrent reduction of hemoglobin,and pure red-cell aplasia was definitely diagnosed by bone marrow morphology,pathology,and polymerase chain reaction assay PVB19 DNA.Treatment of intravenous immunoglobulin and conversion of tacrolimus into ciclosporin was effective.Conclusion PVB19 is a rare but clinically significant infection that manifests as pure red cell aplasia during the early post-transplantation.Treatment of intravenous immunoglobulin and conversion of tacrolimus into ciclosporin in most cases was effective.

Objective:To compare serum level of β thromboglobulin in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) complicated different complications.Methods:According to their complications,a total of 398 patients with unsta- ble angina pectoris (UAP)were divided into pure UAP group (UAP control group,n=82),hypertension group (n=89),diabetes mellitus (DM)group (n=133)and brain infarction group (n=94).Serum level of β thromboglobu- lin were measured and compared among four groups 6h after onset and before discharge.Incidence of myocardial in- farction within six months were followed up in four groups.Results:On 6h after onset,the serum level of β throm- boglobulin of brain infarction group,DM group,hypertension group,UAP control group was (61.13±3.32)ng/ml,(59.77±3.15)ng/ml,(52.12±3.27)ng/m, (48.55±3.14)ng/ml respectively,in which the level of brain infarction group was the highest,the difference between any two groups were significant (P<0.01 all);Compared with 6h after onset,there were significant reductions in serum levels of β thromboglobulin of four groups before dis- charge P<0.01 all,their ordering and difference significant degree were no change.The incidence of myocardial infarction (MI)in brain infarction group,DM group,hypertension group,UAP control group was 11.7%,6.0%, 3.4%,2.4% respectively,the MI incidence of brain infarction group was significant more than that of UAP con- trol group,the differences among other groups was no significant,P>0.05.Conclusion:β-thromboglobulin level during UAP onset is significant higher than that of remission period,and it rises most significantly in brain infarction group,and in this group the percentage of myocardial infarction occurred within six months is highest

Serum osteoprotegerin (OPG) concentration was measured in 647 healthy female adults (aged 20-81 years), and was compared with that of other races. The serum OPG was positively correlated with age (r = 0.276, P <0.01). The geometric mean value of serum OPG in premenopausal women was significantly lower than those in perimenopansal and postmenopausal women. The serum OPG in middle-aged Chinese women was signifieandy higher than those in middle-aged Austrian and Icelandic, but this was quite contrary to the results obtained in old-aged women.

This in vitro study demonstrated that taurine supplemented culture medium enhanced alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, osteocalcin secretion and mineralized matrix formation. Taurine induced activation of ERKI/2 and osteoblast differentiation, which was blocked by pretreatment of osteoblasts with ERKI/2 inhibitor (PD98059), suggesting taurine stimulated osteoblast differentiation via ERKI/2.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechnism of preptin on connect tissue growth factor (CTGF) in human osteoblasts. Methods Recombinant human preptin was used to treat primary human osteoblasts, and Western blot was used to detect CTGF protein level. Mitogen-activated protein kinase p38(p38MAPK), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2), c-jun N-terminal Kinase (JNK), and their phosphorylation levels were also detected by Western blot. MAPK inhibitors (PD98059, SP600125, or SB203580)were used to elucidate the mechnism of preptin induced expression of CTGF in human osteoblasts. Results Treatment of human osteoblasts with preptin caused a time and dose-dependent increase in CTGF secretion. Preptin induced activation of ERK, but not p38MAPK or JNK in human osteoblasts. Furhermore, pretreatment of human osteoblasts with the ERK inhibitor PD98059 abolished the preptin-induced CTGF secretion. Conclusion Preptin induces CTGF expression in human osteoblasts by means of ERK/MAPK pathway.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the femoral head trabecular heterogeneity in Chinese male patients with osteoporotic fracture and their effects on osteoporotie fracture.Methods Human femoral heads were obtained from 11 male osteoporotie fracture (OP) patients ranged from 51 to 82 years old [average age (65±9 ) years old], and 7 male trauma ( TM ) patients ranged from 46 to 75 years old [average age (61±11 ) years old] who underwent total hip arthroplasty within two hours after either osteoporotic or trauma hip fracture.The OP was defined as having a fragility fracture.After laying femoral head as living body position and locating mark, nine trabecular specimens were obtained from femoral heads, each of 6 mm × 6 mm× 7 mm.The cortical shell was not included in each specimen.One cube was selected as the primary compressive trabecular region and the other 8 specimens as non-primary compressive trabecular region.These cubes were scanned using high-resolution microcomputed tomography scanner (μCT).After scanning, the data of total cubes, primary compressive trabecular region and noncompressive trabecular region were used for analysis by t test.Results In OP group volumetric bone mineral deosity(vBMD) [( 182.15±66.00) mg/mm3 vs (223.97±70.92) mg/mm3, t =3.041], tissue bone mineral density (tBMD) [(538.76±64.72) mg/mm3 vs (580.01±63.86 ) mg/mm3, t = 3.160],bone volume fraction (TV/BV) [(0.22 ± 0.06) % vs (0.26 ± 0.07 ) %, t = 2.821], trabecular thickness (Tb.Th.) [( 161.07 ±42.75 ) μm vs ( 205.47 ± 74.44 ) μm, t = 3.233] were significantly decreased while bone surface/bone volume ( BS/BV ) [( 13.75 ± 2.55 ) mm-1 vs ( 12.28 ± 2.70 ) mm-1, t =-2.777] was significantly increased in the non-primary compressive trabecular region than that in the primary compressive trabecular region ( P < 0.05 ).vBMD [( 182.15 ± 66.00) mg/mm3 vs ( 248.05 ±105.48) mg/mm3, t = - 3.598], tBMD [(538.76 ± 64.72) mg/mm3 vs ( 570.54 ± 100.32) mg/mm3,t=-2.108],TV/BV [(0.22±0.06) % vs (0.28±0.12) %, t= -3.466], Tb.Th.[(161.07±42.75) μm vs (200.31 ±96.63) μm, t= -2.866], trabecular number (Tb.N.)[(1.46±0.23)/mm3 vs ( 1.57 ± 0.29)/mm3, t = - 2.396] were significantly decreased while trabecular separation ( Tb.Sp.) [(780.82 ± 144.85 )μm vs ( 653.09 ± 119.64) μm, t = 5.470], degree of anisotropy (DA) ( 1.57±0.20 vs 1.47±0.18, t = 2.930 ) were significantly increased in OP than in TM in the non-compressive trabecular region( P < 0.05 ).No significant differents were found between OP and TM for any of the parameters measured in the primary compressive trabecular region.Tb.Th.[(199.37±68.22)μm vs (176.33 ±71.21 )μm, t = 2.060,P < 0.05] were significantly increased in the primary compressive trabecular region than that in the non-primary compressive trabecular region and no significant differences were found in the other parameters in the all 18 specimens.Conclusions The femoral head trabeculae had a heterogenic distribution in OP.Bone loss in OP primarily takes place in non-compressive trabecular region.Femoral neck fracture cannot be prevented though the bone microstructure do not loss in the primary compressive trabecular region.Tb.Th.in the femoral head could be an interesting parameter which is closely related to the femoral neck fracture.

Objective To investigate the status quo of oral nursing in the emergency department of top three hospitals in Shanxi province, and to analyze the existing problems so as to provide the basis and reference for improving the clinical operation standard. Methods In the form of WeChat questionnaire, a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate 190 nurses who met the requirements in emergency departments of 6 top three hospitals in Shanxi province. Results All the 6 hospitals surveyed did not incorporate oral care into the nurse examination program; 28.42％(73/190) of the subjects had oral assessments of endotracheal intubation according to their clinical experience;chlorhexidine (70.00％,133/190) and physiological saline (65.79％,125/190) were the most commonly used oral care solutions in clinic;48.42％(92/190) of nurses performed this operation for 6-10 min;91.58％(114/190) of nurses believed that oral care played an important role in the recovery of these patients. Conclusions The oral care and oral care of the patients in the emergency department are mostly clinical experience, so it is urgent to establish a unified standard of implementation on the basis of evidence. The professional knowledge of oral nursing of the patients undergoing oral trachea intubation is low, so it is suggested that the training of emergency nurses be strengthened and the operation should be included in the assessment of nursing operations.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the relation between follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level and bone metabolism-related cytokines in women. METHODS: A cross-sectional study of 703 healthy Chinese women, aged 20-80 years, was conducted. Serum FSH, osteoprotegerin (OPG), leptin, transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1), and transforming growth factor-beta 2 (TGF-β2) were detected. RESULTS: Serum FSH was positively correlated with OPG (r=0.447, P<0.01) and TGF-β2 (r=0.344, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with TGF-β1 (r=-0.374, P<0.01). After adjustment of age, a negative correlation was found between FSH and leptin (r=-0.265, P<0.01). The multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that serum FSH was a negative determinant factor of TGF-β1, and 22.6% changes in TGF-β1 was determined by FSH. FSH was, however, a positive determinant factor of OPG and TGF-β2, and 9.9% and 1.1% of the effect on OPG and TGF-β2 was performed by FSH, respectively. Serum FSH almost had no effect on leptin. CONCLUSION Serum FSH level in adult women is related to bone metabolism-related cytokines, such as TGF-β1, OPG, and TGF-β2.
