Objective To research the hygroscopicity of Astragalus extrating powder by use of Bentonite Clarifying Agent of Fruit Wine. Methods Determing the hygroscopicity rate of extracting powder whether or not dealing with bentonite, drawing and comparing hygroscopicity graphs, and determing the transforming rates of the content of total Astragalim, polysacch-aride in Astragalus. Results Extracting powder dealing with bentonite reduces hygroscopicity, and the transforming rates of the content of total Astragalim, polysacch-aride in Astragalus are high. Conclusions The method can be used for increasing the moisture-proof properties of Astragalus extrating powder.

Objective To isolation and identify the pathogen of stem blight of Malvaceae. Methods The stems were collected from stem blight-diseased plants (J) and healthy ones (W) of Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medic.in Yixing City of Jiangsu Province then cultured to isolate newborn mycelium. The pathogen isolated but unidentified were inoculated in stems of healthy plants of Abelmoschus manihot ( L.) Medic.and pathogenicity was verified. Finally, the pathogenic specie( s) was or were identified by morphological characteristic, rDNA-ITS analysis and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. Results The same fungus were excluded which were the same species in J and W, the three fungus of J2, J5 and J6 were acquired.J5 was preliminarily identified to have pathogenicity and it was Fusarium equiseti under the microscope. The genome DNA of J5 was amplified to a length of 524bp, and homology highly with Fusarium equiseti (100%).Conclusion The pathogen was identified as Fusarium equiseti.

OBJECTIVETo study the photosynthetic characteristics and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of Pinellia ternate from different sources, in order to provide basis for cultivation and breeding.
METHODPigment contents were compared among different sources by the Lichtenthaler method. The light-response and diurnal photosynthesis course of P. ternata from different sources were analyzed by LI-6400 system, and chlorophll fluorescence parameters were analyzed by PAM-2100 system.
RESULTThe difference of photosynthetic characteristics among the sources were remarkable. The light compensation point (LCP) of P. ternate from different sources were 11.57-17.88 micromol x m(-2) x s(-1), the light saturation point (LSP) were 1 000-1 300 micromol x m(-2) x (s-1). All the sources have obvious "midday depression". P. ternate cultivated in Xinjiang showed a higher light saturation point (LSP) and better chlorophyll fluorescence parameters.
CONCLUSIONP. ternata cultivated in Xinjiang showed better photosynthetic characteristics and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters than the others.
