Objective　The microvasculature of the anterior lobe, posterior lobe and cerebellar vermis was observed under the optical microscope in 6 rats. Methods　The tannic acid-ferric chloride method (TAFM) was used to stain the vessels in cerebellum. Results　The arteries within the cortex and medulla of the cerebellum originated from pia mater arteries and central branches of the cerebellar arteries, the branches of pia mater arteries mostly penetrated into the cerebellar cortex vertically and formed capillary net in the molecular layer, purkinje layer and granular layer, the arteriole in the medulla of cerebellar posterior lobe branched and formed clawed-like figurations. These vessels beneath lobule cortex connected mutually by vessel anatomosis across the medulla. Conclusion　The arteriole in the cerebellum can be manifested distinctly in a strong three-dimension by TAFM and the vessel anatomosis in deep layer of cerebellum can be easily observed.

Objective To explore the difference of immunological characteristics between recombination human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(rhG-CSF)mobilized peripheral blood grafts(G-PB)and steady-state bone marrow grafts(SS-BM).Methods From April to October 2003,G-PB and SS-BM of 15 related donors were collected.T cell subgroups,dendritic cells(DC),monocytes and the expression of CD28 costimulatory molecules on T cells were determined by multicolor flow cytometry.The lymphocyte proliferation ability and the quantities of interleukin-4(IL-4)and interferon-?(IFN-?)secreted by T cells were determined using MTT assays and sandwich ELISA.Results The absolute numbers of monocytes,CD3+,CD4+ and CD8+ T cells,and the ratios of CD4/CD8 in G-PB were significantly higher than those in SS-BM,respectively(P0.05).The quantities of IFN-? and IL-4 secreted by T cells per micromilter in G-PB was significantly higher than those in SS-BM(P0.05).The absolute numbers of DC1 and DC2 in G-PB were significantly higher than those in SS-BM(P0.05).Conclusion It is concluded that the difference of immunological characteristics between G-PB and SS-BM may explain the lower incidence of GVHD and lower relapse rate after SS-BM and G-PB transplantation.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of Qingpeng ointment in the treatment of chronic eczema.MethodsTotally,95 patients with chronic eczema were enrolled and divided into 3 groups to receive topical Qingpeng ointment (n =33),0.2％ hydrocortisone cream (n =32),10％ urea ointment (n =30) respectively twice a day for 4 weeks.All the patients were followed up once a week for the evaluation of therapeutic and side effects.ResultsAfter 4-week treatment,the response rate was 78.8％,84.4％ and 46.7％ in the Qingpeng ointment-,hydrocortisone cream- and urea ointment-treated patients respectively.Significant differences were observed in the response rate between the Qingpeng ointment- and urea ointment-treated patients (P ＜ 0.05 ),but not between the hydrocortisone cream- and Qingpeng ointment-treated patients (P ＞0.05).Skin flushing with a sensation of burning was observed at the application sites of 2 patients treated with Qingpeng ointment,and tingling sensation at the application sites was reported in 1 patient treated with hydrocortisone cream.All of these adverse reactions were tolerable and had no influence on the treatment.Conclusion Topical Qingpeng ointment is effective and safe for the treatment of chronic eczema.

Background Previous retinal vascular mounting only obtained part of retinal vessels for the study of retinal diseases,and thus it is difficult to comprehensively assess these diseases.So optimizing the trypsin digestion method to show the complete retinal capillary network is very important for the study of retinal diseases.Objective This study was to modify the preparing way of trypsin digested whole retinal capillary network and offer a basis for a quantitative analysis of cells and capillaries.Methods Thirty Wistar rats were divided into model group (20 rats) and control group (10 rats).Streptozotocinum(STZ) of 1.25％ dissolved in 0.05 mmol/L sodium citratehydrochloric acid buffer was intraperitoneally injected to establish diabetes models in the model group,and the equal volume of solvent was used in the same way in the control group.Eight months after injection,100 ml PBS was injected via ventriculus sinister and released via cut right atrium,and then 100 ml 4％ paraformaldehyde was injected into the ventriculus sinister.The rat retinas containing part of the optic nerve were entirely isolated,and digested by trypsin,and vitreous,inner limiting membrane and neural retinal tissue were removed.The whole retinal capillaries network was mounted on the slide.The ghost pericytes and acellular capillaries in the middle retinal area were identified and counted under the optical microscope.Results The retinal mount exhibited that the retinal vessels were stained by hematoxylin and periodic acid schiff.The vessels network presented with the entire type in shape with the radical central retinal arteries and veins and their branches.The capillary showed the shallow-and deep-layer networks between the small arteries and veins.Pericytes distributed and protruded vessel wall and formed the ghost cells without nuclei.The diameter of acellular capillaries was 20％ or more than that of near capillaries,and no cellular nuclei or ghost cell was found through the vessel.Conclusions The experimental technique for setting-up of cleaned vasculature and mounting vessels on glass microscopic slide provides intact vessels,which is helpful for the evaluation of retinal vascular morphology and quantitative analysis.

Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of technical modification for laparoscopic repair of giant hiatal hernias.Methods A total of 49 patients with giant hiatal hernia underwent modified laparoscopic repair by dissecting sac, closing hiatal, mesh placement and fundoplication from June 2010 to May 2014.The operation time, hospitalization time, postoperative complications, upper gastrointestinal imaging and improvement of postoperative symptoms were observed.Results The average operation time was (103.6 ±31.7) min(88-173min).The average length of post operation hospitalization was (4.2 ± 1.8) d (range,3-12d).Postoperative complication occurred in 4 patients,including pleural effusion (1 patient),respiratory failure (1 patient), difficulty in swallowing (2 patients)with complication occurrence rate being 8.2％ (4/49).No conversion or death occurred.The average time of follow-up was (28.3 ± 12.7) months (6-50 months) in 49 cases.During the follow-up, main symptoms were relieved and no recurrence was found by barium swallow.Conclusion Technical modification for laparoscopic repair of giant hiatal hernias is safe and effective.

Objective To evaluate the effect of simvastatin and atorvastatin on clinical progression of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in elderly patients with metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods A total of 135 patients with BPH and MS aged 60 years and over were divided into three groups:simvastatin group (n=45,40 mg/d),atorvastatin group (n=45,20 mg/d) and control group (n=45).BMI,waist circumference,blood pressure,levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG),glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c),triglyceride (TG),total cholesterol (TC),low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL C),high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP),interleukin 6 (IL-6),testosterone,estradiol,prostate specific antigen (PSA) and international prognostic scoring system (IPSS) and prostate volume were detected before and 12 months after treatment.Results Compared with control group,patients receiving simvastatin or atorvastatin for 12 months showed that the levels of serum TC,TG,LDL-C,hs-CRP,IL-6,IPSS were decreased(all P＜0.05),the level of serum HDL-C level were increased (all P＜0.05),and prostate volume was reduced(P＜0.05).The decrease in prostate volume was more in patients receiving simvastatin than receiving atorvastatin [(10.86±5.65) ml vs.(5.91 ± 3.03)ml,P＜0.05].Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the reduction of prostate volume was positively related to the decreases of serum TC and IL-6 levels,and to the increase of serum HDL-C level.Conclusions Simvastatin and atorvastatin have the efficacy reducing prostate volume and improving obstruction symptoms of lower urinary tract,and slowing the clinical progression of BPH and simvastatin is more effective than atorvastatin on reducing prostate volume.The efficacies of statins might be through lowering cholesterol level and antiinflammatory effect.

Objective To investigate the impact of thyrotropic hormone (TSH) on recurrence rate of common bile duct stone (CBDS).Methods The clinical data of 268 cases of primary or recurrent CBDS undergoing surgery was analyzed.According to whether screening preoperative TSH level routinely,we assigned the patients into two groups,unchecked group with 171 cases and screened group with 97 cases.The postoperative recurrence rates in 36 months between two groups were compared.Results The recurrence rates of unchecked group and screened group were 3.5％,12.9％,16.9％ and 0.0％,5.2％,8.2％ respectively in 12-,24-,36-months,there was statistically significant difference between two groups (x2 =4.029,P ＜ 0.05).In unchecked group,patients ≥ 60 years had a significant higher recurrence rate than ＜ 60 years patients (x2 =6.485,P ＜ 0.05).In screened group,there was no statistically significant difference between ≥60 and ＜ 60 patients (x2 =0.142,P ＞ 0.05).In those 34 patients with a high TSH level in the screened group,normalizing the level from (6.23 ± 1.44) μIU/ml to (2.91 ±0.74) μIU/ml by oral intake of thyroid hormone postoperatively,led to the recurrence rates of 0％,5.9％,8.8％ in 12-,24-,36-months,which was not significantly different from those with normal TSH (x2 =0.022,P ＞ 0.05).And that,there was not statistically different between the young and elder patients in those 34 cases for the 12-,24-,36-month recurrence rates (x2 =0.086,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Some CBDS patients may be with high level of TSH.Normalizing TSH level may be conducive to a reduced postoperative recurrence rate of CBDS.
