Objective:
To compare the efficacies of two training protocols, i.e. the multimedia instruction and the conventional method, in periodontal surgery teaching for undergraduate students.
Methods:
One hundred and twenty-three dental undergraduates in their pre-clinical training course were recruited and divided into two groups according to the learning grade matching principle: the experimental group (multimedia instruction, 60 students) and the control group (conventional method, 63 students). The teaching aim was to train the students gingivectomy and periodontal flap surgery by using the pig jaws. The conventional teaching method of teacher-demonstrating and student-practicing was used in the control group, and the practice time of the students′ for each surgery was 45 minutes. A standardized teaching video combined with the teachers′ explanations of the key steps was used in the experimental group. The students′ practice time for each surgery was 60 minutes. The efficacy of teaching protocol was evaluated by the teachers according to the scoring criteria set by the teaching group.
Results:
In gingivectomy training, accuracy of fixed points, angle of postoperative gingival margin and morphology of gingiva of the experimental group were better than those of the control group. The experimental group also had more complete and continuous excised gingivae and more thorough adjacent gingival removal. The total scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (92.8±2.6 vs. 89.9±3.7,

Objective:To explore the effect of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on cardiac rehabilitation in patients after heart transplantation. Methods:According to the search terms, the search was conducted on China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP, WanFang Data, China Biology Medicine disc, Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and EBSCO. The search time limit was from the establishment of the database to January 31, 2022. After 2 researchers screened the article, extracted information, and evaluated the quality, a Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.4 software. Results:According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 English articles were selected, including 191 patients in the intervention group and 212 patients in the control group, with a total of 403 patients. Meta-analysis showed that during cardiac rehabilitation exercise in patients after heart transplantation, HIIT could improve peak oxygen uptake in cardiopulmonary function exercise testing [ MD=1.98, 95% confidence interval ( CI) (0.55, 3.41), P=0.007], peak heart rate in chronotropic responses [ MD=6.93, 95% CI (2.62, 11.24), P=0.002], and muscle exercise ability [ MD=337.18, 95% CI (12.02, 62.35), P=0.04]. There was no statistically significant difference in systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, peak systolic blood pressure, peak diastolic blood pressure, resting heart rate and respiratory exchange rate between the two groups ( P>0.05). A subgroup analysis of peak oxygen uptake was conducted based on the intervention period and the start time of rehabilitation exercise after heart transplantation. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in peak oxygen uptake between the intervention group and the control group when the intervention period was ≤ 12 weeks or the start time was > 6 weeks ( P<0.01) . Conclusions:HIIT effectively improves the peak oxygen uptake, peak heart rate, and muscle exercise activity of patients after heart transplantation. HIIT has a significant impact on peak oxygen uptake when the rehabilitation exercise start time after heart transplantation is > 6 weeks or the intervention period is ≤ 12 weeks.

【Objective】 To compare the diagnostic performance of gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB) enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) in detecting liver metastases from metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). 【Methods】 We made a retrospective collection of 128 patients diagnosed with mCRC from May 2019 to June 2022 at Haikou Hospital, Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University and Xijing Hospital, Air Force Military Medical University. All patients underwent Gd-EOB MRI and MDCT imaging. Three radiologists judged the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the two modalities for colorectal liver metastases, respectively. 【Results】 Of the 128 patients diagnosed with mCRC, a total of 462 lesions were obtained, with 424 positive and 38 negative metastases confirmed by pathology. In the interpretation of physician A, Gd-EOB MRI judged 404 positive and 38 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 95.67%, sensitivity of 95.28%, specificity of 100.00%, a positive predictive value of 100%, and a negative predictive value of 65.52%. MDCT judged 337 positive and 37 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 80.95%, sensitivity of 79.48% and specificity of 97.37%, a positive predictive value of 99.70%, and a negative predictive value of 29.84%. In the interpretation of physician B, Gd-EOB MRI judged 403 positive and 36 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 95.02%, sensitivity of 95.05%, specificity of 94.74%, a positive predictive value of 99.51%, and a negative predictive value of 64.91%. MDCT judged 335 positive and 35 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 80.09%, sensitivity of 79.01%, specificity of 92.11%, a positive predictive value of 99.11%, and a negative predictive value of 28.23%. In the interpretation of physician C, Gd-EOB MRI judged 406 positive and 38 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 96.10%, sensitivity of 95.75%, specificity of 100.00%, a positive predictive value of 100.00%, and a negative predictive value of 67.86%. MDCT judged 352 positive and 34 negative liver metastases, with accuracy of 83.55%, sensitivity of 83.02%, specificity of 89.47%, a positive predictive value of 98.88%, and a negative predictive value of 32.08%. Gd-EOB MRI judged the nature of liver metastases with higher accuracy, sensitivity and negative predictive value than MDCT, and had better agreement with pathological examination results in the judgment of physician A and physician C (Kappa=0.770, 0.788). In physician B’s judgment, the agreement with pathological findings was fair (Kappa=0.731), while the agreement between the results of MDCT examination and pathological findings was poor (Kappa=0.379, 0.378 and 0.400). 【Conclusion】 Gd-EOB MRI has higher accuracy, sensitivity and positive predictive rate than MDCT in diagnosing colorectal liver metastasis, and has higher diagnostic performance. Therefore, it can provide more valuable reference information for clinical differential diagnosis. Subcapsular lesions, peribiliary metastases and hepatic steatosis can reduce the diagnostic performance of MDCT, while Gd-EOB MRI detection can provide more accurate results than MDCT.

Objective:To investigate and summarize the chest CT imaging features of patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19), bacterial pneumonia and other viral pneumonia. Methods:Chest CT data of 102 patients with pulmonary infection due to different etiologies were retrospectively analyzed, including 36 patients with COVID-19 admitted to Hainan Provincial People's Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University from December 2019 to March 2020, 16 patients with other viral pneumonia admitted to Hainan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2018 to February 2020, and 50 patients with bacterial pneumonia admitted to Haikou Affiliated Hospital of Central South University Xiangya School of Medicine from April 2018 to May 2020. Two senior radiologists and two senior intensive care physicians were participated to evaluated the extent of lesions involvement and imaging features of the first chest CT after the onset of the disease. Results:Bilateral pulmonary lesions were more common in patients with COVID-19 and other viral pneumonia, and the incidence was significantly higher than that of bacterial pneumonia (91.6%, 75.0% vs. 26.0%, P < 0.05). Compared with other viral pneumonia and COVID-19, bacterial pneumonia was mainly characterized by single-lung and multi-lobed lesion (62.0% vs. 18.8%, 5.6%, P < 0.05), accompanied by pleural effusion and lymph node enlargement. The proportion of ground-glass opacity in the lung tissues of patients with COVID-19 was 97.2%, that of patients with other viral pneumonia was 56.2%, and that of patients with bacterial pneumonia was only 2.0% ( P < 0.05). The incidence rate of lung tissue consolidation (25.0%, 12.5%), air bronchial sign (13.9%, 6.2%) and pleural effusion (16.7%, 37.5%) in patients with COVID-19 and other viral pneumonia were significantly lower than those in patients with bacterial pneumonia (62.0%, 32.0%, 60.0%, all P < 0.05), paving stone sign (22.2%, 37.5%), fine mesh sign (38.9%, 31.2%), halo sign(11.1%, 25.0%), ground-glass opacity with interlobular septal thickening (30.6%, 37.5%), bilateral patchy pattern/rope shadow (80.6%, 50.0%) etc. were significantly higher than those of bacterial pneumonia (2.0%, 4.0%, 2.0%, 0%, 22.0%, all P < 0.05). The incidence of local patchy shadow in patients with COVID-19 was only 8.3%, significantly lower than that in patients with other viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia (8.3% vs. 68.8%, 50.0%, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of peripheral vascular shadow thickening in patients with COVID-19, other viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia (27.8%, 12.5%, 30.0%, P > 0.05). Conclusions:The probability of ground-glass opacity, paving stone and grid shadow in chest CT of patients with COVID-19 was significantly higher than those of bacterial pneumonia, and it was more common in the lower lungs and lateral dorsal segment. In other patients with viral pneumonia, ground-glass opacity was distributed in both upper and lower lungs. Bacterial pneumonia is usually characterized by single lung consolidation, distributed in lobules or large lobes and accompanied by pleural effusion.
