1.Effect of Thera-Band Systems on Chronic Lumber Back Pain of Athletes
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2008;14(6):574-576
Objective To explore the rehabilitation effect of the Thera-Band Systems of progressive exercise on chronic lumbar back pain of the athletes. Methods 45 athletes with the soft tissue lesion were tested for pain and the function of lumbar back muscle was evaluated. Then all cases were trained with Thera-Band Systems. Results After training, the scores of pain and function evaluation of lumbar back muscle decreased significantly. Conclusion Thera-Band Systems of progressive exercise has the obvious and positive effects on chronic lumbar back pain and muscular proprioception of the athletes.
2.Periosteal kneading plus resistance exercise for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2012;(11):829-833
Objective To observe the effect and mechanism of periosteal pressure kneading plus resistance exercise in improving obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods Thirty-two patients with moderate OSAHS were divided randomly into a kneading plus resistance training group and a conventional drug group, each group with 16 patients. The training group was given periosteal pressure kneading plus resistance exercise while the drug group received only conventional oral treatment with drugs. Before and after treatment, polysomnography (PSG),Thera-Band elastic bands and a PWS angle measuring instrument were used to observe PSG parameters around the neck plus the muscle strength and cervical activity of both groups. Results In the training group the following components of the PSG index had improved significantly compared with before treatment:respiratory events (AHI),sleep structure (SS),awakening number (AN),non-rapid eye movement (NREM),rapid eye movement (REM),mean oxyhemoglobin saturation (MSaO2) events, lowest oxyhemoglobin saturation (LSaO2),and the index of oxyhemoglobin saturation decrease (ODI).In the drug group only the LSaO2 and ODI had improved significantly compared with before treatment. In terms of the PSG parameters, the training group demonstrated significantly greater improvement than the drug group. After treatment, the training group's average residence time in neck load pulling was extended significantly while that of the drug group showed no significant change. The difference between the groups was statistically significant. After the treatment the training group's average activity of the cervical spine was also significantly increased, and again the drug group showed no significant improvement. Conclusion Skeletal lesions in peripheral airways may be an important factor in the formation of OSAHS.Periosteum kneading with resistance exercise has an obvious curative effect on OSAHS.
3.Analysis of the association of eating behavior and personality with obesity in children
Chinese Journal of School Health 2022;43(11):1622-1625
Objective:
To explore the mediation effect of eating behavior in the personality obesity association, so as to provide scientific evidence for preventing childhood obesity in China.
Methods:
This study investigated 1 271 children in September 2018 among Beijing, Changzhi and Urumuqi. By used NEO five Factor Inventory to assess characteristics of personality and used Children Eating Behavior Questionnaire to measure eating behaviors in children. Five obesity related indicators [body mass index (BMI), BMI Z score, waist circumference, waist to hip ratio and body fat percentage] were derived from physical examination.
Results:
After adjusting for sex, age and region, the standardization scores of conscientiousness were negatively associated with BMI( B= -0.227 , 95%CI =-0.422--0.031), BMI Z score( B=-0.081, 95%CI =-0.158--0.006), waist circumference( B=-0.720, 95%CI = -1.281--0.159), waist to hip ratio( B=-0.004, 95%CI =-0.007--0.001) and body fat percentage ( B=-0.727, 95%CI = -1.293--0.162)( P <0.05). Results from the mediation analysis showed that the associations between conscientiousness and BMI, BMI Z score, waist circumference, waist to hip ratio and body fat percentage were partly mediated through food responsiveness and emotional eating behaviors; with effects ranged from 27.5%-47.1% and 0.9%-18.0%( P <0.05).
Conclusion
Conscientiousness is associated with lower risk of childhood obesity and food responsiveness and emotional eating behaviors show mediating effect in the association between childhood personality and obesity. Health education should be carried out in time for children with low conscientiousness in order to prevent the occurrence of obesity in the early stage.

Objective:To evaluate the performance of Hybribio human papillomavirus (HPV) typing test kit for high risk HPV-DNA typing detection in screening of cervical precancer lesions. Methods:A total of 9 914 women were recruited in Henan, Shanxi, and Guangdong provinces from June to July 2017. All women underwent HPV DNA test. The women who diagnosed as HPV positive and cytological examination ≥ atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) or HPV negative and cytological examination≥low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) underwent colposcopy biopsy and pathological examination. Using the pathological diagnosis as the gold standard, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and 95% confidence interval ( CI) of high-risk HPV and HPV16/18 tests were calculated. Results:The mean age of 9 914 subjects was (45.0±9.3) years old. Among them, 1 302 subjects were detected as high risk HPV positive, including 211 of HPV16 positive and 64 of HPV18 positive. According to the pathological gold standard of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 (CIN2) or worse, the sensitivity and specificity of high risk-HPV and HPV 16/18 for triaging ASCUS women were 90.6% (95% CI: 75.8%-96.8%) and 78.0% (95% CI: 74.5%-81.2%) as well as 56.3% (95% CI: 39.3%-71.8%) and 95.7% (95% CI: 93.8%-97.1%), respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of high risk-HPV and HPV 16/18 for cervical precancer lesions screening were 95.1% (95% CI: 88.1%-98.1%) and 87.6% (95% CI: 86.9%-88.2%) as well as 65.9% (95% CI: 55.1%-75.2%) and 97.8% (95% CI: 97.5%-98.1%), respectively. Conclusions:The Hybribio HPV test kit has a relative high sensitivity and specificity for cervical precancer lesions screening and ASCUS triaging. It is reliable for HPV DNA detection and cervical cancer screening.
