OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of ulinastatin on the serum inflammatory cytokines of patients with ulcerative colitis. METHODS:Totally 60 patients with ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into observation group and test group, and an-other 20 healthy volunteers were selected as normal control group. Test group were received routine treatment, including nutrition support and maintaining water, electrolyte balance and 5-amino salicylic acid (5-ASA),etc. Patients in observation group were treated by ulinastatin 200 000 U by intravenous infusion based on the treatment of test group,q12h. 7 d were as a course for the pa-tients,and it lasted for 2 courses. The clinical data in healthy control group and other 2 groups was observed, including tumor ne-crosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),IL-8,C-reactive protein(CRP)levels, colon peroxidase activity(MPO),clinical activity index(CAI)scores and the incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment. RESULTS:Before and after treatment, the TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-8,CRP and MPO in other 2 groups were significantly higher than health control group, with significant dif-ferences(P<0.05). After treatment, the TNF-α and IL-1β in 2 groups and the IL-8 and CRP levels in observation group were low than before, and the TNF-α,IL-8 and CRP levels in observation group were significantly lower than test group, with significant dif-ferences(P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions during treatment. CONCLUSIONS:Based on the routine treatment, ulinastatin can effectively inhibit the expression of inflammatory cytokines of patients with ulcerative colitis, and relieve the inflam-mation and injury of colon, with good safety.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture penetrated from Tiaokou (ST38) to Chenshan (BL57) combined with exer-cise on affected limbs of shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) at stage I after stroke. Methods 40 inpatients with SHS at stage I after stroke from January, 2013 to December, 2014 were randomly divided into treatment group (n=20) and control group (n=20). The treatment group accept-ed acupuncture from Tiaokou to Chenshan on unaffected sides and exercise of affected upper limbs, and the control group accetpted routine acupuncture on Triple Shoulder Acupoints on affected sides. They were assessed with Pain Rating Index (PRI), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and modified Barthel Index (MBI) before and 4 weeks after intervention. Results The incidence of improvement was 90% in the treatment group, and 80%in the control group (χ2=0.784, P=0.376). The scores of PRI decreased (t>5.37, P<0.001), and the score of FMA and MBI increased (t>4.66, P<0.001) significantly after intervention. The score of FMA and MBI improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (t>2.25, P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture from Tiaokou to Chenshan combined with exercise is more effective on SHS at stage I after stroke than conventional Triple Shoulder Acupoints.

Taking Suxi Healthcare Center in Yiwu City, Zhejiang province as an example, the paper analyzed the present mission and organizational characteristics of township healthcare centers in China, especially their dual functionality of community public health and primary medicare. Based on such analysis, it designed a matrix-based model for organizational structure and job performance management for such heslthcare centers. The features are as follows. 1) The two dimensions of the matrix structure refer to the departments for medical treatment and the multi-village doctors team in the community, respectively and jointly offering primary medicare and public health services; 2) Jobs are designed based on the organizational structure and functionality. Every job carries out dual Junctions as described and managed by the job description and target responsibility certificate; 3) The job responsibility certificate is a breakdown of the balanced scorecard of the healthcare center, as divided between the departments for medical treatment and the multi-village doctors team; 4) The balanced scorecard of the township healthcare center is designed based on its strategic mission and developing plan. The entire organizational design and management of the center are built on the strategic orientation and logical programmed research.

Objective Detecting of spermatozoal total RNAs by laboratory on chip gel electrophoresis so that it could provide better total RNAs for the sequent experiments, and spur the development of spermatozoal molecular biology. Methods Sperms of healthy adults were collected and then total RNAs were extracted by RNeasy mini kit(QIAGEN), detection and quality control were performed by loboratory on chip gel electrophoresis system. Meantime, the control RNAs were extracted from lymphocytes. Results It was found that there were a plenty of genes expressed in healthy sperms. Electrophoretic graphs showed that the total RNAs of spermatozoal had 2 bands which went ahead a little comparing to the normal somatic cells. The former peak appeared keenness, and the latter was broad and showed like a reversed U. The ratio of them was largely more than 2, no extra peaks were found in electrophoretic graph. Conclusion A simple, intuitionistic method to detect and control the quality of the healthy adults' spermatozoal total RNAs had been successfully constructed by using laboratory on chip gel electrophorosis.

To investigate the effect of Toxoplasma gondii infection upon the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mRNA and N-methyl-D-aspirate receptor (NMDA) subunits NR2A and NR2B,Wistar rats of 4 weeks old were randomly divided into 3 groups with 10 rats in each group in which 2 mL suspensions of T.gondii tachyzoits in the concentrations of 2×10~7/mL and 2×10~5/mL were injected intra-peritoneally to rats in group A and group B respectively, serving as the experimental groups, while 2 mL of sterile physiologic saline was injected intra-peritoneally in group C serving as the control group. Four weeks after injection, the expressions of BDNF mRNA and BDNF protein in the brain tissues were detected by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical assay and the expressions of NR2A and NR2B immune activity in the hippocampal CA1,CA3 and DG were investigated by using computer-assisted image analysis system. Compared with the control group, the expression of BDNF protein in the hippocampus of the experimental groups was significantly enhanced [(64.27±23.18), (50.39±19.34) vs (44.68±22.74)/mm~2,P<0.05]. In addition, the increased expressions of BDNF mRNA in the hippocampus of the experimental groups were also demonstrated [(0.13±0.02), (0.12±0.02) vs (0.09±0.01); P<0.05]. In the expression of the NR2A protein, their expressions in group A and B of rats were significantly lower than that of group C in CA3 (P<0.05),but there was no significant change in CA1 and DG. In the expression of NR2B protein, the expressions in group A and B were also lower than that of group C in CA1 and CA3, and had no significant change in DG. It is evident that the expressions of BDNF mRNA and BDNF protein in hippocampal tissues were significantly increased following chronic infection with T.gondii, supporting the hypothesis that BDNF may be involved in the intrinsic neuro-protective mechanism.

With the rapid development of the nuclear industry, the uranium-exposed population is rapidly expanding. Kidney injury is a major health concern for uranium-exposed population because uranium is initially retained in the kidneys and induces chemical toxicity. However, the commonly used clinical markers of kidney injury usually show significant changes in the late stages of such damage, making it difficult to monitor the occupational health of uranium-exposed population. In recent years, a number of biomarkers that can reflect early kidney injury caused by uranium have been identified and investigated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and protein blotting. This article will review the studies in this area, with the aim of providing a basis for the diagnosis and understanding the development and prognosis of uranium-induced kidney injury.
