Objective Study the value of clinical application of BaiJi and absorbable Gelatin in embolizing uterine myoma together with its effecty, side effect and complication. Methods 21 women with uterine myoma undergoing selective uterine arterial embolization by Seldinger's technique were studied. After retrograde transfemoral introduction of a 5 french catheter, the uterine arteries were successively catheterized. Bai Ji and absorbable Gelatin sponge particles were injected through free flow until devasculariztion. Results Uterine myoma's blood supply came from bilaterial uterine arteries demonstrated by angiography. All the supplying artering images disappeared after the embolization. 3~6 months follow up study showed: a marked reduction in the size of myomata by 38%~90%. Clinical symptoms were improved. There was one failure cas and then underwent uterotomy due to infection. Conclusions The short term effect of using Bai Ji and absorbable Gelatin for embolizing uterine myoma is clinically significant, while long term effects is still wating for research.

To investigate the relationship of the expressions of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP) with metastasis and prognosis in colorectal cancer. Using S P immunohistochemistry method to detect the expressions of MMPs and TIMP in 41 cases of colorectal cancer. The expression levels were analyzed quantitatively by computer image analysis system. The results showed that the expression of MMP 2,MMp 9 and TIMP 1 was higher than those in normal epithelial mucosa. In the cases with metastasis to lymph node, the expressions of MMP 2 and MMP 9 TIMP 1 were significantly higher than that of cases without metastasis. The high expressions of the three factors are closely correlated with the progression and poor prognosis of colorectal cancer. It suggested that expressions of MMPs and TIMP are closely related with metastasis and prognosis in colorectal cancer.

In this cross-sectional study, consecutive Chinese Han ethnic inpatients in the Division of Cardiology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013 were included. According to the exclusion criteria, 9 587 patients [1 604 with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and 7 983 without T2DM]were obtained for final analysis. Logistic regression model was used to analyze the association of ApoB/A-1 ratio with T2DM and the possible interactions between ApoB/A-1 ratio and other risk factors. The results showed that the distribution of ApoB/A-1 ratio was positively skewed in Chinese Han ethic population. The median of ApoB/A-1 ratio of female was lower than that of male (0.68 vs 0.73,P<0.01). In all groups, the proportion of T2DM was increased with the raised ApoB/A-1 ratio. By the stratification analyses of sex, age, coronary artery disease, and the use of statins, ApoB/A-1 ratio was still correlated with T2DM. There existed significant interactions between ApoB/A-1 ratio and the smoking status or creatinine in T2DM.

Objective To investigate the effect of benazepril on expression of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)gene in kidney of diabetic rats and renal lesion. Methods Forty Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group(CON),diabetic group(DM) and diabetic rats treated with benazepril(DM+B) group. After benazepril was orally administered(15 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1))to the diabetic rats for 12 weeks, serum creatinine(Scr) and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) levels, urinary protein excretion(UAER)and angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ) contents in renal cortex were determined.CTGF mRNA expression in the renal cortex was detected by RT-PCR.Immunohistochemstry was used to examine the expressions of fibronectin(FN) and type Ⅳ collagen(Col Ⅳ) in glomeruli. Results At the end of the experiment,UAER in DM group(12.92?3.56 mg?24 h~(-1)) was significantly higher than that in CON group(2.74?1.09 mg?24 h~(-1))(P

Journal of China Medical University 2017;46(7):628-631
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of periostin (PN) in breast cancer and its adjacent tissues. Methods We evaluated 50 women with breast cancer. We determined PN expression by immunohistochemistry and analyzed positive expression in the tumors and adjacent tissue by paticnt age,TNM stage,SBR type, pathological type, lymph node metastasis, and other factors. Results PN expression in breast cancer and cancer adjacent tissues was associated with an increase in TNM staging (P =0.024),SBR type (P =0.012),and lymphatic metastasis (P =0.035).However,there was no significant correlation between age or pathological type (P > 0.05).Condusion Expression of PN in breast cancer is associated with TNM staging,SBR type, and lymph node metastasis, and is involved in the pathological progression of breast cancer.PN may be a potential prognostic marker for breast cancer.

Objective In comparison with Xpert C.difficile/Epi through detection of Clostridium difficile toxin genes from clinical stool , the performance of a laboratory-developed ( LD) assay was evaluated in detail. Methods A total of 176 stool specimens collected from patients with diarrhea in the First People′s Hospital of Yuhang District and the People′s Hospital of Yingzhou , Ningbo from August 1 to December 30 were detected by the two assays in parallel , and meanwhile the C.difficile strains will be isolated and identified for C.difficile toxin genes by a conventional PCR assay .The Cross-tabs Analysis was used for the results by using SPSS20.0 software. Results In comparison with the results of Xpert C.difficile/Epi as the standard, the LD assay had a sensitivity of 91.7%(22/24), a specificity of 100%(152/152), a positive predictive value (PPV) of 100%(22/22), and negative predictive value (NPV) 98.7%(152/154).The results of two assays were statistically coherent (Kappa=0.950, P<0.001).In comparison with culture and detection of toxin genes results , the LD assay had a sensitivity of 90.0% ( 18/20 ) , a specificity of 97.0%(152/156), a PPV of 81.8% (18/22), and NPV of 98.7% (152/154)(Kappa=0.838, P<0.001), and the Xpert C.difficile/Epi assay had a sensitivity of 90.0% (18/20), a specificity of 96.0%(150/156), a PPV of 75.0%(18/24), and NPV of 98.7% (150/152)(Kappa=0.792, P<0.001). Conclusions The performance of the LD assay was similar to that of the Xpert C .difficile/Epi kit in detection of toxigenic C.difficile.The LD assay could be directly applied to detection of toxigenic C.difficile from clinical stool samples .The clinical application of this LD assay will also provide a domestic and promising diagnostic assay for diagnosis of C.difficile infection in China.

Although widely applied in treating hematopoietic malignancies, transplantation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) is impeded by HSPC shortage. Whether circulating HSPCs (cHSPCs) in steady-state blood could be used as an alternative source remains largely elusive. Here we develop a three-dimensional culture system (3DCS) including arginine, glycine, aspartate, and a series of factors. Fourteen-day culture of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNCs) in 3DCS led to 125- and 70-fold increase of the frequency and number of CD34+ cells. Further, 3DCS-expanded cHSPCs exhibited the similar reconstitution rate compared to CD34+ HSPCs in bone marrow. Mechanistically, 3DCS fabricated an immunomodulatory niche, secreting cytokines as TNF to support cHSPC survival and proliferation. Finally, 3DCS could also promote the expansion of cHSPCs in patients who failed in HSPC mobilization. Our 3DCS successfully expands rare cHSPCs, providing an alternative source for the HSPC therapy, particularly for the patients/donors who have failed in HSPC mobilization.
