Objective To evaluate the value of multislice spiral CTA in diagnosis of intracranial aneurysm. Methods CTA data in 32 patients with intracranial aneurysms proved by operation and DSA were retrospectively analysed in comparison with the results of DSA.Results 38 aneurysms in 32 patients were detected by DSA and operation.Six cases of 32 had two aneurysms.36 and 34 aneurysms were detected by DSA and CTA respectively.4 aneurysms located at anterior communicating artery,7 at middle cerebral artery,9 at posterior communicating artery,14 at internal carotid artery and 4 at basilar artery. Conclusion MSCTA can be used as the method in screening intracranial aneurysms for surgery and interventional therapy.

Objective To compare dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry T-score concordance between hip and lumbar spine, and to estimate the value of T-score of the hip for diagnosing osteoporosis in the elderly. Methods From September 2000 to May 2002, 123 males aged 60-89 years (average 72.0?7.4) and 137 females aged 60-88 years (average 67.3?6.1) were selected in the study based on the exclusion of subjects with apparent abnormalities affecting bone mass or taking medications which might affect bone metabolism. Detailed questionnaire included lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking, exercise and dietary habits, etc. Radiographs of the thoracic and lumbar spine were taken. Patients' BMD were measured by DEXA (DMS, Challenger) at lumbar spine (L 2-4) and left hip in posterior-anterior projection. The right hip was scanned if patients had a history of fractures or any bone disease in the left hip. All data were statistically analysed using SPSS 8.0 system. Results The average T-scores of bone mineral density of the lumbar spine were higher than that of the hip in all male patients and in 65-, 85- age groups of female patients(P

The expression of CD11b on monocytes and neutrophils were measured by direct immunofluorescence techiques and flow cytometry in controls and type 2 diabetic patients.CD11b expression on monocyte and neutrophil in diabetic patients with macroangiopathy was higher than that in cases without macroangiopathy [3.85±1.46 vs 2.88±0.92,6.36 (4.58-9.79) vs 4.23 (3.70-4.83),both P<0.01].Monocyte CD11b and neutrophil CD11b might be independent risk factors of macroangiopathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

BACKGROUND:Conflicting data have been reported regarding the expression of retinol-binding protein 4 in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the impact of dietary interventionversus metformin treatment on expression of retinol-binding protein 4 in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. METHODS: Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized to six groups, including two normal control groups (rats were kiled after 8 and 16 weeks of normal diet), two HFD groups (rats were kiled after 8 and 16 weeks of high-fat diet), one dietary intervention group (rats were kiled after 8 weeks of high-fat diet and 8 weeks of normal diet) and one metformin treatment group (rats were kiled after 8 weeks of high-fat diet and 8 weeks of high-fat diet and metformin treatment). The levels of retinol-binding protein 4 in serum and biochemical indexes were detected through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of retinol-binding protein 4 mRNA in liver tissues was measuredvia western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease models were successfuly established by high-fat diet. Liver tissues of high-fat diet fed rats showed progressing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease histology, from non-alcoholic fatty liver to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Dietary intervention increased retinol-binding protein 4 expression in liver tissue as wel as improving liver enzyme, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance, and aleviated impaired liver histology. Metformin treatment only aleviated hepatic steatosis caused by high-fat diet. The results indicated that retinol-binding protein 4 expression might play a role in the pathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Metformin treatment can aleviate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease histology, dietary intervention should be the fundamental treatment.

Objective To investigate the current status of frailty in patients on maintenance hemodialysis(MHD),and explore the correlation of frailty with anxiety and depression. Methods General information, clinical data and blood biochemical data of 101 cases who underwent MHD in Department of Nephrology,Shunde Hospital Affiliated to Jinan University from January 2023 to January 2024 were collected.FRAIL scale was applied to evaluate the frailty of the patients, and they were accordingly classified into frailty group and non-frailty group(including pre-frail and non-frail participants).Anxiety and depression were evaluated by GAD-7 and PHQ-9 scale.Univariate analysis and logistic regression were used to explore the association of frailty with anxiety, depression and other possible influencing factors. Results Among the 101 cases,29 cases(28.71%)were includedin frailty group and 72 cases(71.29%)in non-frailty group. There were 42 patients with depression(41.58%)and 25 with anxiety(24.75%).In the frailty group, the prevalence of depression was 65.52%and that of anxiety 55.17%.There were significant differences in age, grip strength, exercise, stroke and coronary heart disease, anxiety and depression, ferritin and CRP between the two groups(P<0.01).Multivariate regression analysis showed that depression,anxi-ety,no exercise, stroke and high ferritin concentration were independent risk factors for frailty in MHD patients(P<0.05).Conclusion In patients on MHD,frailty is closely associated with depression, anxiety, and lack of exercise, and stroke as well as high ferritin concentration are independent risk factors for frailty.
