1.Effect of Removing Carotid Stenosis on Cognitive Function
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2008;16(9):700-702
The effect of removing carotid stenosis on cognitive function is receiving considerable attention. Both carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting improve cognitive function. The improvement of cognitive function after the removing carotid stenosis may be associated with the increased cerebral perfusion, the reduction of white matter lesion and the incidence of silent lacunar infarction.

The use of high flow nasal cannula(HFNC) therapy as a noninvasive respiratory support approach for preterm infants is rapidly increasing.HFNC is an alternative to nasal continuous positive airway pressure(nCPAP) for treating apnea of prematurity, primary respiratory support for neonates with respiratory distress,post-extubation support, facilitating nCPAP weaning in preterm infants. In this article, the proposed mechanisms of HFNC and the evidence from clinical trials of HFNC use in preterm infants were reviewed, and recommendations for evidence-based practice were established.

Chinese Journal of Practical Nursing 2008;24(12):64-66
Objective To explore the current status of physical exercises of patients with primary hypertension and provide basis for selective nursing intervention. Methods Investigation was carried out in 238 patients patients with primary hypertension in a third-grade and first-class hospital in Guangzhou on their physical exercises using the theory of "periodic behavior changing model". The results were ana|yzed. Results Patients who didn't plan to take physical exercises account for 19.3%,who planned to take it was 15.1%,who prepared to take it was 20.2%,who were taking it was 8.8% and who were maintaining it was 36.6%.The age and duration of illness course significantly influence the distribution of taking exercises in different stages, P<0.05.While gender and education background were not important influencing factors. Conclusion We should pay attention to increase the recognition of patients with primary hypertension to take physical exercises autonomously, especially the young and middle-aged patients.

Objective To study the antitumor effects in vitro and impact on colon cancer in rats of endostatin transfected bifidobacterium oral powder preparation(ETB-2).Methods Growth inhibitory effect of the cecropins on normal human gastric epithelial cell line(GES-1) and human colon adenocarcinoma cell line(LS-174T) was observed using a microculturetetrazolium(MTT) colorimetric methods.Male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups. All treatments were completed in a course of 18 weeks and the experiment was finished at week 33.Results The cecropins showed selective cytotoxic activity against the human colon adenocarcinoma cell line. There was a significant lower in incidence of colon tumors in rats(70%vs100%,P0.05).Conclusion ETB-2 has significant preventive effect on colon cancer induced by DMH in rats.

Objective:To explore the mRNA differential expression and clinical effect of leptin in different kinds of ovarian cancer. Methods: 129 patients with ovarian cancer and 42 controls were collected from Jun.2015 to Jun.2016 in our hospital. We got a small tissue by ovarian biopsy guided under the ultrasonic processing, detected the total RNA,purified mRNA and analyzed the correlation of the expression of leptin in different kinds and clinical stages of ovarian cancer. Results: Compared with the control groups, the mRNA expression of leptin in each group was increased(P<0.05),and the serous adenocarcinoma group increased obviously(P<0.05).Patients with clinical stage FIGO Ⅲ was significantly higher than other stages in serous adenocarcinoma group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Leptin could express in different kinds and clinical stages of ovarian cancer, and may be a new detection index for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of STAT3 gene silencing on the growth of xenografts in human pancreatic cancer SW1990 cells in nude mice. Methods The expression vector inserted with shRNA targeting at STAT3 gene was constructed and was stably transfected into SW1990 cells (SW1990-RNAi group).SW1990 cells transfected with negative control shRNA expression vector (SW1990-Con group) and parent SW1990 (SW1990 group) were used as controls.STAT3,VEGF,MMP-2 protein expressions in these groups were determined by using Western blot. The subcutaneous xenografts models were established in nude mice, and the growth of xenografts was observed,CD34 expressions were determined by immunohistochemistry and MVD was measured. Results The expression of STAT3 protein was 84.69 ± 9.31,82.00 ± 7.76,7.93 ± 1.24,repectively,in SW1990 group,SW1990-Con group,SW1990-RNAi group, and the expression of VEGF protein was 82.94 ± 8.97,80.86 ± 10.28,39.04 ± 6.23,respectively,and the expression of MMP-2 protein was 40.88 ± 5.09,38.26 ± 5.71,12.54 ± 2.15,respectively.The expression in SW1990-RNAi group was significantly lower than those in other 2 groups (P < 0.05),while the expression of all three proteins between SW1990-Con group and SW1990 group was not significantly different. The weight of the xenografts in SW1990 group,SW1990-Con group,SW1990-RNAi group was (2.2 ± 0.4),(2.2 ± 0.3),(0.5 ± 0.3) g,respectively ; the MVD of the xenografts was (20.35 ± 2.41),(18.79 ± 1.94),(9.62 ± 1.06) per high power field, respectively, and the number in SW1990-RNAi group was significantly lower than those in other 2 groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01),while the difference between SW1990-Con group and SW1990 group were not significant. Conclusions Inhibition of STAT3 gene expression can significantly slow the growth of SW1990 xenografts in nude mice, and the mechanism may be related with down-regulation of VEGF and MMP-2 expression and inhibition of the angiogenesis of pancreatic cancer.

Objective To evaluate the optimized simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy (SIB-IMRT) plans in cervical esophageal carcinoma underwent prophylactic lymphatic irradiation.MethodsSix patients with cervical esophageal carcinoma were studied. The gross tumor volume (GTV) and clinical target volume (CTV) (including bilateral mid-lower neck and supraclavicular lymph drainage regions, upper mediastinal lymph drainage regions) were delineated on sim-CT images,GTV and CTV were uniformly expanded by 5 mm to create PGTV and PTV.Five fields(5F) ,7F and 9F SIB-IMRT plans were designed. The prescribed doses to PGTV and PTV were 66 Gy and 60 Gy in 30 fractions respectively. The parameters of dose-volume histograms in three groups planning were compared. Results The values of conformity index(CI) of PGTV were 0.56,0.62 and 0.69 (F =6.22,P <0.01 ),the V66 with 88.24% ,95.03% and 94.91% ( F = 4.39,P < 0.05 ) and D95 with 6539.67,6601.83 and 6602.00 cGy (F=4.46,P <0.05) in 5F,7F and 9F SIB-IMRT plans. The values of CI,V66 and D95 of PTV were 0.80,0.85 and 0.87 (F=11.29,P<0.01),with 91.64%,94.05% and 95.06% (F=4.10,P<0.05) and with 5934.00,5987.17 and 6006.33 cGy (F =4.01,P <0.05).The values of maximal dose of spinal cord were 4707.17,4497.83 and 4357.00 cGy( F = 11.26 ,P <0.011 ) in 5F ,7F and 9F SIB-IMRT plans. The values of all dosimetic parameters about PGTV and PTV were same in 7F and 9F SIB-IMRT plans ( all P > 0.05 ).Conclusion 7F-SIB-IMRT plan is best one scheme for cervical esophageal carcinoma underwent prophylactic lymphatic irradiation.
