Aim To study the effects of amitriptyline(Ami)on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. Methods An animal model of focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was induced by the middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) by reversibly inserting a nylon thread method. The rats were decapitated after ischemia for 1 hour and reperfusion for 2 hours. The infarct volumes were determined using a 2,3,5-tri-phenyl tetrazolium chloride(TTC) staining and assessed by image analysis system. The neurologic deficit status were evaluated on 0~5 grade scale. The levels of dopamine(DA),norepinephrine(NE),serotonin(5-HT) and its metabolic product~hydroxyindole acetic acid(5-HIAA) in cortex and striatum were measured by fluoro-spectrophotometry.Results Ami treatment exhibited a remarkable reduction in infarct volume and neurologic deficit scores. The monoamines content of cortex and striatum had a significant increase compared with ischemia-reperfusion group. Conclusion Amitriptyline has protective effect on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. The mechanism might be related to reducing the release of NE,DA and 5-HT during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,attenuating or inhibiting of the neurotoxic effects of monoamine neurotransmitters.

Objective To develope energic spectrum of super-large solar particle events (SPE),human body model and a Monte Carlo method for estimating the organ dose of astronauts in SPE without the shielding of geomagnetic field. Methods A voxel-based human phantom and shielding model of spacecraft were developed and the Monte Carlo program was compiled and applied to calculate the doses of astronaut's organs with the transport protons of the spectra of super-large SPEs in 1956 and 1972, normalized by the proton fluence for energy greater than 30 MeV. Results The Monte Carlo program was developed successfully and the organ dose under different shielding thickness were also calculated with the program in the normalized spectra of SPEs in 1956 and 1972 without the effects of geomagnetic field. They were similar with prior studies. Conclusion The results are reliable by the comparison with other calculations of prior researchers. Exposure to super-large SPE without the shielding of geomagnetic field would result in a very large organ absorbed dose and may be very danger for manned spaceflight.

Nitrogen source is one of the important factors that affect the microalgae growth and lipid accumulation. We studied the effects of various nitrogen sources (i.e. NaNO3, CO(NH2)2, NH4Cl and CH3COONH4) and amount on the growth density, lipid yield, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) content of Nannochloropsis oculata by single factor experimental method. The results show that N. oculata preferred NH4+ as nitrogen source rather than NO3- and CO(NH2)2. NH4+ could promote the growth and lipid accumulation of N. oculata. With the increase of nitrogen concentration, the biomass and the content of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) increased, but the content of lipid decreased. CH3COONH4 was the most suitable for growth, accumulation of lipid and EPA of N. oculata among the four investigated nitrogen sources. The optimal concentration was 5.29 mmol/L.

Objective To predict the astronaut organs radiation exposure and related health risks in the space radiation environment, the calculated method is studied. Methods A male voxel human model based on MRI and radiation data bank was build. The calculation was carried out with Monte Carlo particle transporting program GEANT4. Results The organ absorbed dose distribution and the effec-tive doses to the model in isotropic proton fields with energies ranges from 10 MeV to 500 MeV were obtained. Conclusion Based on the Chinese astronaut voxel model and the data set of proton spectrum measured in the space cabin, the cumulated dose in the model is gotten. The calculated skin dose is about 148.6 μGy/d, which is within in the range of 100 -300 μGy/d, published by USA and Russia.

Objective To study the clinicopathological features and biological behavior of inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor. Methods We studied the clinical data,HE sections, immunohistochemical staining,Epstein-Barr virus encoded nuclear RNA(EBER)in situ hybridization and outcome of one patient with inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor of liver, and thirteen patients with inflammatory pseudotumor of liver and spleen treated at the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University from 2001 to 2010.Results Among the thirteen inflammatory pseudotumors,we diagnosed 1 patient with inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor of spleen and 1 patient with inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor of liver using immuno-histochemical staining and EBER in situ by hybridization. The liver case had pathological morphology consistent with those described in the literatures, but the splenic case had specific histologic features. They were both female, and were alive 2.5 and 6 years after operation. Conclusions Inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor should be distinguished from inflammatory pseudotumor. It is a rare tumor seen mainly in liver and spleen. The diagnosis depends on histopathological and immunohistochemical findings.Inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor is a low-grade malignant tumor.Surgical excision is the treatment of choice. The two cases provided evidence for its indolent behavior.

A young man with a history of thrombocytopenia for seven years presented with splenomegaly and fever and rapidly evolved to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and hemorrhagic shock. Spontaneous rupture of the spleen was diagnosed. The critical patient underwent an emergency splenectomy. Pathological examination revealed splenic peliosis, an extremely rare disease with unknown etiology and pathogenesis. Despite the high mortality rate due to spontaneous splenic rupture with DIC, the patient was successfully treated and the details of the case are presented in this report.

BACKGROUND:A large number of studies have investigated the effects of whole body vibration training at different frequencies on muscle strength, but less is reported on the differences in the efficacy of vibration training at different frequencies on patellar tendinopathy. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect of eccentric training of quadriceps combined with different frequency of whole body vibration training on patellar tendinopathy. METHODS:From April to June 2022,48 patients with patellar tendinopathy were recruited from Wuhan Sports University and randomly divided into eccentric training group(n=12),30 Hz group(n=12),40 Hz group(n=12),and 50 Hz group(n=12).The eccentric training group only completed eccentric training of the quadriceps. The 30 Hz,40 Hz and 50 Hz groups performed the whole body vibration training with the amplitude of 2 mm and frequencies of 30 Hz,40 Hz and 50 Hz respectively on the basis of the eccentric training of the quadriceps. The intervention lasted for 8 weeks, three times a week. Before and after the intervention, the patients'surface electromyography signals of the quadriceps, kinematics and dynamics data of knee joint at the time of landing in deep jump and the time of peak vertical ground reaction,Visual Analogue Scale score,Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-Patellar score were evaluated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 8 weeks of intervention, compared with the eccentric training group, the median frequency of the lateral and medial femoris muscles were significantly higher in the 40 Hz and 50 Hz groups(P<0.05).At the time of landing, the knee joint flexion angle and external rotation moment in the 40 Hz and 50 Hz groups were significantly lower than those in the eccentric training group(P<0.05),while the knee joint flexion angle in the 50 Hz group was significantly lower than that in the 30 Hz group(P<0.05).At the peak moment of vertical ground reaction, the knee extension torque in the 40 Hz group was significantly lower than that in the eccectric training group(P<0.05);the knee flexion angle and knee extension torque in the 50 Hz group were significantly lower than those in the eccentric training group(P<0.05).The Visual Analogue Scale scores in the 50 Hz and 40 Hz groups were significantly lower than those in the eccentric training group(P<0.05).The Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-Patellar score in the 50 Hz group was significantly higher than that in the eccentric training group and 30 Hz group(P<0.05).To conclude, eccentric training of the quadriceps combined with 50 Hz whole body vibration training can significantly improve quadriceps'strength, endurance and activation rate of the vastus lateralis muscle, reduce the pain of knee joint, and improve the function of the knee joint in patients with patellar tendinopathy.
