1.Evaluation of radiofrequency technology in facial rejuvenation

Objective To quantitatively evaluate the efficacy of radiofrequency technology in the facial rejuvenation. Methods Six Chinese female volunteers received five times treatments at 4 days interval with the Slimager radiofrequency device on one side of their face, the other side as a control. After that, we evaluated the clinical efficacy by patients, clinicians, and professional measuring Angel Software, respectively. Results The results showed that the skin looseness and rhytides improved significantly after treatment (20 days). Patients and doctors were satisfied with the efficacy. Data measurements showed that the face levitated by 2.4 mm, the nasolabial fold levitated by 2.2 mm after the treatment. Conclusions The radiofrequency technology is a safe, non-invasive and non-surgical treatment method, which is effective for tightening skin, eliminating rhytides, and rejuvenating face.
2.Interaction of TNF-α and cigarette smoke extract in respiratory mucus expression

Objective To explore the mutual effect of proinflammatory factor tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and cigarette smoke extract(CSE) in the induction of mucin 5AC in BEAS-2B human airway epithelial cells. Methods The BEAS-2B cells were transfected with nuclear factor(NF)-κB decoy oligonucleotides(ODNs) or transfected with NF-κB scrambled ODNs as negative control,then treated with TNF-α,CSE,and TNF-α plus CSE, respectively. The expression of phosphorylated epidermal growth factor receptor (p-EGFR) , mucin 5AC( MUC5AC) protein produc-tion and gene expression were detected by Western blot, ELISA and RT-PCR respectively. Results Significant in-creasing of p-EGFR protein production in scrambled ODNs transfected cells with elevation of MUC5AC protein production and mRNA expression was recorded and TNF-α and CSE co-incubated groups were much higher than single TNF-α or CSE stimulated group(P <0. 05). In NF-κB decoy ODNs transfected cells,TNF-α stimuli revealed an obvious reduction of MUC5AC protein production and gene expression. Conclusion TNF-α and CSE can syner-gistically induce mucin 5AC expression in BEAS-2B cells, transcription factor NF-κB plays a critical role in TNF-α induced mucin production but not as so important in mucin production by CSE stimulated cells.
3.Clinical efficacy of autologous fat grafting with platelet-rich plasma for facial rejuvenation

Objective This single-center prospective,case-controlled study was carried out to investigate clinical effects on patients with aging face who underwent facial autologous fat grafting with platelet-rich plasma (PRP).Methods Thirty patients with facial sagging or partial depression and requiring autologous fat grafting were randomly selected for the study.Photograph and 3D scanning were taken before and 3-month after the operation.Patient and physician satisfaction was rated using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) ranging from 1 (most unsatisfactory) to 10 (most satisfactory)3 months after the operation.Statistical difference between the patient and physician satisfactory scores was analyzed.Results The average physician VAS score was 7.9 ± 1.0 while the average patient VAS score was 8.0±1.2.The scores between two groups had no significant difference (P> 0.05).Four patients developed bruising and swelling postoperatively that disappeared less than 7 days later.There was no feed back of serious complications from patients.Further investigation of patients with scores less than 7 showed the main reason of low patient satisfaction was that the improvement of facial depression did not meet the requirements of the patient,and fat absorption led to unsatisfactory filling.Conclusions The high satisfactory scores indicate good aesthetic result of facial autologous fat grafting with PRP.PRP may lead to higer survival rate of fat and satisfaction.

6.Applicationof noninvasive correction of congenital auricle deformity

Objective To investigate the application of noninvasive correction of congenital auricle defor-mity,and to analyze the cure rate and the causes of incidence of complications. Methods From January 2015 to December 2016,33 patients with unilateral or bilateral congenital auricle deformities were treated with non-surgi-cal correction technique in the Plastic Surgery Department of Guangzhou General Hospital. When the treatment was completed,the VAS score was used to assess the satisfaction of the patient's parents. Results From January 2015 to December 2016,33 patients(53 ears)received noninvasive treatment of the ear deformity correction system. The average age of the patients was(63.5 ± 41.3)days,the average treatment time was(41.6 ± 15.4)days,and the average parental satisfaction was 3.76 ± 0.93(total score:5 points). Significant difference was observedin auri-cle morphology data between pre- and post- treatment ,except for cranioauricular angle(P < 0.05). Conclusions In this study,the cure rate for non-surgical correction was good,however,the satisfaction of treatment decreased with age.The most common complication of treatment was auricle skin damage. The reasons of causing complica-tions maybe the age-induced reduction of ear cartilage elasticity which brought great pressure on the ear ,and the increase of the treatment time.
7.Synthesis of 24-methylenecholestan-3?,5?,6?-triol

Objective To synthesize 24-methylenecholestan-3?,5?,6?-triol,a compound same as a marine natural product,.Methods The target molecule was synthesized in 7 steps using hyodeoxycholic acid as the starting material,3?-(tetrahydropyran-2-yloxy)-cholest-5-ene-24-ketone as the key intermediate and isopropylation in Grignard reagents as the key step.Results The target molecule was synthesized in a total yield of 53% and confirmed by mass spectrometry(MS),proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy(1HNMR),carbon magnetic resonance spectroscopy,(13CNMR)and infrared spectroscopy(IR).Conclusion Our method to synthesize 24-methylene-cholestan-3?,5?,6?-triol is characterized by easily available and cheap starting material,short synthetic route,high yield and atom-economic.

Three-parent test tube baby technology is important to solve the mitochondrial genetic disease.Once available,it raises greatly ethical controversy such as breaking traditional family values,hitting the religious belief,existing unknown risks,correctly handling the failed embryo,as well as the influence on the social status of the babies.Regarding these controversy,we can discuss it from several aspects.Because the development of ethics is behind the progress of science and technology,we should affirm the value of three-parent test tube baby technology and balance the development of science and technology with respecting the religious beliefs.Strict supervision system and standard application system reflect our respect for life.Incomprehension to the unknown things should become the motivation of our inquiry.We should face up to our fear of three-parent test tube baby technology,and thus to strengthen research and deepen understanding.Based on the above argument,this paper puts forward the ethical principles that should be followed in the development of three-parent test tube baby technology,namely respect,benefit,no harm and justice.

Objective To provide structure and function applied anatomical of auricle stabilizing system for plastic and reconstruction.Methods Twelve cases fresh ears from adult head specimen,to dissect the skin,muscle fascia system and cartilage,to observe nerve,blood vessel and structure of cartilage.Results The structure of auricle Including the perichondrium,auricle cartilage,muscle and ligament.There was a rich blood supply for auricle stabilize system.The mainly blood supply come from posterior auricular artery diameter was 1.2 ± 0.2 cm and superficial temporal artery diameter was 2.6 ± 0.3 mm.Vein accompanying with the same name.Lymphatic flow in the area of superficial muscle fascia.Conclusion The blood supply of posterior auricular artery and superficial temporal artery play a crucial role in auricle repair and reconstruction.The main structure of stable system was elastic cartilage.Auricle cartilage and muscle play an important role in the microsurgery of auricle cartilage morphology and location.
10.The effects of pulmonary rehabilitation on the hospitalization rates and exercise endurance of patients with moderate or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Objective To investigate the effects of exercise therapy and health education on the hospitalization and exercise endurance of patients with moderate or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods A total of 86 patients with moderate or severe but stable COPD were divided randomly into an observation group (n=46) and a control group (n=40).The patients in both groups accepted general respiratory medical therapy.The patients in the observation group also accepted additional pulmonary rehabilitation therapy which consisted of exercise and health education while the patients in the control group only accepted health education and rehabilitation training guidance by telephone instead of standardized pulmonary rehabilitation therapy.The average recurrence of hospitalization,length of stay,and total bed time of all of the patients was tracked for a year before and after enrolment.Their 6 minute walking distance (6MWD) and quality of life (QOL) as reflected by using a scale recommended by the Chinese Society of Respiratory Disease before and after entering the study were evaluated.Results There was no significant difference between the groups in the year before entering the study in terms of their average frequency of hospitalization,length of stay or total bed time.In the year after enrollment average frequency of recurrence requiring hospitalization,length of stay and total bed time in the observation group all decreased significantly compared with the previous year,and all were significantly lower than in the control group.There were no significant differences between the groups in average 6MWD or average QOL score at entry,but in the subsequent year both groups' results improved significantly.Conclusion Long term pulmonary rehabilitation can not only enhance exercise endurance,it also improves QOL and relieves the economic burden of COPD patients on society.
