2.Evaluation of the prevention and treatment effects of acupuncture-moxibustion for Alzheimer disease based on various mouse models
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2021;19(2):147-156
Objective: To evaluate the prevention and treatment effects of acupuncture-moxibustion for Alzheimer disease (AD) based on various AD mouse models. Methods: Several representative types of mouse models were selected according to the pathophysiological causes of AD, including senescence accelerated mouse/prone (SAMP) mice, soluble amyloid-β protein (Aβ) injection mice/rats, amyloid precursor protein (APP) transgenic mice, and APP/PS1 double transgenic mice. Through the observation of behavioral changes and analysis of core items, the possible mechanisms of acupuncture-moxibustion in preventing and treating AD were explored. Results: Acupuncture-moxibusiton therapy can improve AD mice's cognitive dysfunction; the major action mechanisms including increasing cerebral blood flow, improving the expressions of vital proteins in the hippocampus, preventing neuron cell apoptosis, promoting the clearance of Aβ deposition, activating autophagy pathway to reduce memory deficits and regulating the metabolisms of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, tyrosine kinase receptor B, N- acetylaspartate and glutamic acid. Conclusion: Although the optimal mouse model is not determined, it is sure that acupuncture-moxibustion therapy can improve cognitive function. A more suitable AD animal model should be duplicated in order to better explore the inherent action mechanism of acupuncture-moxibustion in preventing and treating AD.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(15):2427-2433
BACKGROUND:An efficient blood vessel system has a decisive effect on the survival and function expression of cells in three-dimensional tissues. Therefore it has been a hot research field in tissue engineering to find an appropriate vascularization strategy.
OBJECTIVE:To summarize and discuss the theory and research progress in vascularization strategies.
METHODS:Literature search was performed in PubMed database for English literatures published from 2003 to 2013. The key words are“tissue engineering, vascularization, endothelial cell, scaffold”in English. Then, the papers were further analyzed and reviewed in line with the theme.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of 124 papers were searched. At last, 41 papers were selected according to the titles and objectives. Vascularization is the focus and pressing issue in tissue engineering field. There are many vascularization strategies, such as growth factor delivery, cellco-culture, dynamic-culture by bioreactor, scaffolds or decellularized scaffolds. But none of them is recognized as an effective strategy to achieve functional anastomosis with the host and sustain grafts survival for a long time in vivo. It wil be a big breakthrough in the future to co-culture pluripotent stem cells with other stem cells, combine with growth factors and optimize culture conditions for the differentiation in vivo.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2000;20(6):551-552
Objective To observe the changes of plasma IL-8 levels and their association with the severity of and the passage of time after inhalation injury. Methods The plasma was separated from blood samples of 27 patients 12 h, 1, 2, 4 and7 d after inhalation injury. The IL-8 level in the plasma was determined by ELISA. Result IL-8 levels were significantly increased on day 1 and kept a high level for a period over 7 d. Conclusion Inhalation injury can induce the production of IL-8, and IL-8 level is positively correlated with the by severity of inhalation injury.

Objective To explore an effective method for enhancing basic clinical skill of students. Methods Selective course of basic clinical skill was launched for the fourth grade clinical medicine students by using simulation-based medical education (SBME).Elective courses have 21 class hours, involving 15 items of basic clinical skills in internal medicine, surgery and nursing.Training methods include preparation, explanation, demonstration, operation, group competition, examination and questionnaire.Selective course examination includes class activation and final examination, accounting for 20% and 80% of the final scores, respectively.Scores were classified into A (excellent),B (good) and C (moderate) levels.Scores and questionnaire data were processed by Microsoft Office Excel 2007 software and percentages of score and questionnaire feedback were calculated. Results Results suggested that the scores of 70% students were more than 90.Results of questionnaire indicated that the basic clinical skills of 76.6% of the students were improved a lot.79.2% considered that it was useful for their clinical practices. Conclusion Clinical-skill course based on SBME is conducive to enhancing basic clinical skills of students.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2016;33(1):167-170
The quality of a donor liver after cardiac death is closely associated with energy metabolism during preservation. Ex vivo mechanical perfusion has broad application prospects because this technique can help energy metabolism and repair ischemia injury of donors' livers. Some core issues are presented in this review in order to provide references for propelling secure application of liver transplantation based on donation after cardiac death.
