Objective To investigate the effect of video-based teaching in the training of nursing operation for newly-contracted nurses. Methods One hundred and twenty one nurses newly recruited in September 2011 to September 2012 were set as the control group, another 128 in October 2012 to October 2013 were set as the experiment group. The former were trained and assessed with traditional training method and the latter were trained for 1 year in video-based teaching methodology. After training, both groups were examined about their operation skills and meanwhile a survey on video-based teaching was conducted. Result After training, the results in operating skills evaluation in the experiment group were significantly better those of the control group (Z=2.82, P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with traditional training method, the video-based teaching can raise the level of nursing operation skills and significantly improve the quality of nursing, thus worthy of popularization and application.

Purpose: To observe the curative effects of different treatments on genual osteoarthritis.Methods: The 148 cases were randomly divided into 4 groups: acupuncture group; Chinese herbs plus spectrograp irradiation group; comprehensive treatments group and western medicine group. Results:The total effective rate in these groups were 78.9%, 72.7%, 92.3% and 78.9% respectively, and there was not a significant difference among the groups (P＞0.05). The marked effective rate in comprehensive treatments group was higher than that in other three groups (P＜0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture and Chinese herbs plus sepectrograp irradiation had certain effect on gonitis. Comprehensive therapies could coordinate the actions of acupuncture, and Chinese herbs plus spectrograp irradiation, and raise the curative effect.

Objective To determine the effects of practicing a simplified 24 movement form of Tai chi on the level of inflammatory cytokines and the quality of life of type 2 diabetes patients. Methods A group of type 2 diabetes patients practiced a simplified 24 movement Tai chi routine 60 min/d, 3 d/week for 6 months. Plasma glu-cose and insulin concentration were monitored. The plasma level of IL-6, IL-18, sCD40L, hsCRP and HBAc1 were measured. Changes in the patients' quality of life were also measured by using the SF-36. Results Serum IL-6,IL-18, hsCRP and sCD40L levels were all significantly lower compared with a control group. Significant quality of life improvements were seen in the Tai chi group compared with the controls. Significant reductions were seen in blood pressure, glycated haemoglobin, glucose, insulin resistance and urinary albumin. Conclusions These results sug-gest that regular Tai chi practice can prevent complications and improve the quality of life of diabetes sufferers through glyeaemic control and down-regulating inflammatory cytokine levels.

Objective To evaluate the effects of parecoxib sodium for preemptive analgesia in patients undergoing cerebral angiography. Methods Sixty patients undergoing cerebral angiography were divided into two groups by random digits table with 30 cases in each : group P and group F. Patients in group P received parecoxib sodium 40 mg 30 min before operation, while group F received fentanyl 1 μ g/kg 2 min before operation. The changes of hemodynamics were observed before operation (To), immediately right internal carotid artery angiography during operation (T1), immediately right vertebral artery angiography (T2),immediately left internal carotid artery angiography(T3), immediately left vertebral artery angiography(T4), 10min after operation (T5). The mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2)and visual analogue score (VAS) were recorded at different times during the whole operation. Results There were no significantly differences on MAP, HR and VAS between group P and group F (P ＞ 0.05 ). But the SpO2 at T1 ,T2,T3 in group F (0.94±0.03,0.95±0.02,0.95±0.02) were significantly lower than those in group P (0.98 ± 0.01,0.98 ± 0.02,0.98 ± 0.02 )(P＜0.05 ), and 2 cases SpO2 ＜ 0.90 at Ti. Conclusion Parecoxib sodium administered preemptively provides a nice analgesic effect in patients undergoing cerebral angiography, and is more safe than fentanyl.

Objective To explore the CT and MR features of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) of adults.Methods The CT and MRI findings of 20 patients of MPNST confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results Among 20 cases,the lesions were located in the lower extremities (n=4),shoulder and spine (n=4),abdomen (n=3),chest wall (n=2),mediastinum (n=2),breast (n=1),prostate (n=1),scrotum (n=1),scalp (n=1),left maxillary sinus and orbital bottom (n=1).Nineteen cases appeared as solid masses and 1 case appeared as diffuse lesion.The maximum cross section of the lesions were about 1.41 cm× 1.42 cm-17.10 cm× 18.08 cm.Sixteen cases were ill defined margin and 4 cases were well-defined margin.CT scan showed 14 cases were lower density or isodensity and with patchy inhomogeneous density.Multiple calcification were found in 2 cases and osteolytic destruction were found in 7 cases.Enhanced CT of 10 cases showed solid component and gradually delayed enhancement,while cystic lesion and necrosis were not enhancement.The tortuous arteries were displayed in 7 cases.Seven cases were performed MRI and the lesions appeared as hypo-intensity on T1WI and hypo-intensity on T2WI with obviously high intensity of cystic component.Enhanced MRI of 3 cases showed significantly heterogeneous enhancement,cyst and necrosis had no enhancement.MR dynamic enhancement of 1 case showed time-signal intensity curve was platform type.DWI showed high signal.Conclusion MPNST has certain CT and MR characteristics which are helpful to improve the diagnostic accuracy.

Objective To systematically assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in treating type 2 diabetes.Methods Related literature was retrieved with a computer. After the data were sifted out from the literature according to the established criteria, they were collected and crossly checked by two researchers independently. The data were input to RevMan5.2 for statistical analysis. Results A total of ten studies were included with a total of 743 patients. The results of Meta analysis showed 1) Post-treatment total efficacy rate was higher in the acupuncture or combined acupuncture and medicine group than in the control group [OR=3.60, 95%CI (2.11,6.13)] and there was a statistically significant difference (Z=4.71,P<0.00001); 2) Post-treatment range of decrease in fasting blood glucose (FBG) was significantly higher in the experiment group than in the control group [WMD=-1.20,95%CI (-1.38,-1.02)] and there was a statistically significant difference (Z=12.88,P<0.00001); 3) Post-treatment range of decrease in 2-h postprandial blood glucose (2hPBG) was significantly higher in the experiment group than in the control group [WMD=-1.27, 95%CI (-1.47,-1.06)] and there was a statistically significant difference (Z=12.02,P<0.00001).Conclusion Clinically acupuncture or combined acupuncture and medicine is more effective than Chinese herbal medicine or Western medication alone in treating T2DM and has no toxic and side effects.

Objective To investigate the effect of extracellular histones (EH) on intestinal mucosal barrier function in mice and the correlation of EH with the pathogenesis of sepsis.Methods Twenty male C57BL/6 mice were assigned into experiment group (n =10) and control group (n =10) according to the random number table.Same dose (50 mg/kg) of EH and saline were administered through the caudal vein of mice in experiment and control groups respectively.Blood and intestinal samples in each group were collected 3 h after the administration.Morphology of intestinal mucosal tissue was detected by light scope and transmission electron microscope.Expressions of tight junction related proteins (ZO-1,Occludin and Claudin-1) were detected by western blot.Plasma levels of diamine oxidase (DAO) and intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP) were determined by ELISA method.Plasma level of endotoxin (ET) was determined by limulus test.Results Under transmission electron microscope,experiment group showed disorganized microvilli of intestinal epithelial cells with partially twisted,broken and lost,unclear tight junctions,and widened cellular space.Under light scope,experiment group showed substantial inflammatory cell infiltration in the intestinal wall,disorganized intestinal villi,edema and hemorrhage of mucosa and submucosa,and edematous goblet cells.Experimental versus control group showed significant reduction in levels of Claudin-1 (0.587 7 ±0.060 6 vs.0.677 2 ±0.038 3),Occludin (0.1277±0.0857vs.0.4306±0.0869) and ZO-1 (0.393 3±0.080 8 vs.0.812 8± 0.096 3) (P ＜ 0.05).Experimental versus control group showed significantly up-regulated plasma levels of DAO [(1.61 ±0.20) U/ml vs.(0.69 ± 0.15) U/ml],I-FABP [(548.5 ± 36.8) EU/ml vs.(178.8±26.9) EU/ml] andET [(0.182±0.076) EU/mlvs.(0.091 ±0.029) EU/ml](P＜0.05).Conclusion EH can obviously impair the integrity of intestinal mucosal barrier in mice and hence induce endotoxin translocation.

In order to identify Aucklandiae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, Inulae Radix, Aristolochiae Radix and Kadsurae Radix using ITS2 barcodes, genomic DNA from sixty samples was extracted and the ITS2 (internal transcribed spacer) regions were amplified and sequenced. The genetic distances were computed using MEGA 5.0 in accordance with the kimura 2-parameter (K2P) model and the neighbor-joining (NJ) phylogenetic tree was constructed. The results indicated that for Aucklandiae Radix (Aucklandia lappa), Vladimiriae Radix (Vladimiria souliei and V. souliei var. cinerea), Inulae Radix (Inula helenium), Aristolochiae Radix (Aristolochia debilis) and Kadsurae Radix (Kadsura longipedunculata), the intra-specific variation was smaller than inter-specific one. There are 162 variable sites among 272 bp after alignment of all ITS2 sequence haplotypes. For each species, the intra-specific genetic distances were also smaller than inter-specific one. Furthermore, the NJ tree strongly supported that Aucklandiae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, Inulae Radix, Aristolochiae Radix and Kadsurae Radix can be differentiated. At the same time, V. souliei (Dolomiaea souliei) and V. souliei var. cinerea( D. souliei var. cinerea) belonging to Vladimiriae Radix were clearly identified. In conclusion, ITS2 barcode could be used to identify Aucklandiae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, Inulae Radix, Aristolochiae Radix and Kadsurae Radix. Our study may provide a scientific foundation for clinical safe use of the traditional Chinese medicines.
