Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of intraoperative mitomycin C(MMC) and TobraDex ophthalmic ointment(TDO) in transcanalicular Nd:YAG laser assisted dacryocystoplasty(LDCL). Methods A total of 204 patients (246 eyes) with lacrimal duct obstruction were divided into four groups: group treated with MMC, group treated with TDO, group treated with MCC plus TDO and control. 2.KTP-Nd: YAG laser-assisted dacryocystoplasty for lacrimal duct obstruction

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of KTP Nd: YAG laser assisted dacryocystoplasty for lacrimal duct obstruction. Methods Specially made hollow lacrimal probe was used to examine the lacrimal ducts to the obstructed parts in a total of 827 eyes. Then KTP laser fibers were inserted into the lacrimal ducts to dredge the obstructed parts by laser. Instillation of different drugs or short term placement of lacrimal supporters was conducted after operation according to the symptoms such as degree of obstruction and with discharges or not. Results The cure rate, improvement rate, and ineffectiveness rate were 93.5%, 5.5%, and 1%, respectively. One therapy was conducted in 562 eyes, twice in 191 eyes. Conclusion KTP Nd: YAG laser assisted dacryocystoplasty is a safe and effective way for the treatment of lacrimal obstruction. Postoperative drug instillation or short term placement of lacrimal supporter can contribute to the clinical outcomes.
4.Male reproductive toxicity of polychlorinated biphenyls.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a class of persistent organic pollutants with estrogen-like effects that exist widely in the environment, and its male reproductive toxicity is arousing more and more attention. Studies indicate that different types of cells in the testis respond differently to PCBs exposure. This article presents an overview on the toxicity of PCBs to testicular germ cells, Leydig cells, Sertoli cells and male offspring. We suggest that deeper studies focus on the mechanism of PCBs according to the results of investigations on male reproductive epidemiology. An insight into the intercellular junctions of Sertoli cells might produce a breakthrough in the studies of the testicular toxicity of PCBs.

6.Association of serum HBeAg,expression intensity of HBsAg and HBcAg in hepatic tissue with clinical characteristics in 317 chronic hepatitis B patients

Objective The relationship was analyzed between clinic and the expression intensity of HBsAg and HBcAg with in the hepatic tissue from the serum HBeAg negative group and the positive group.Methods A total of 317 liver biopsy specimens were divided into the HBeAg negative group and the positive group,and the relationship was analyzed between the expression inten sity of HBsAg and HBcAg within the hepatic tissue and their age,gender,ALT level,serum HBV-DNA load,hepatic inflammatory activity grading and fibrosis staging in the two groups.Results Age,ALT level,hepatic inflammatory activity grading and fibrosis of the serum HBeAg negative patients were greater than those of the serum HBeAg positive patients,while their serum HBV-DNA load and the expression intensity of HBcAg within the hepatic tissue were lower than those of the serum HBeAg positive patients (P<0.05).The expression intensity of HBsAg within the hepatic tissue between the serum HBeAg patients and the serum HBeAg positive patients was not significantly different,and it was not correlated with age,ALT level,hepatic inflammatory grading and fi brosis staging (P>0.05).After the serum HBeAg turned negative,the expression intensity of HBcAg within the hepatic tissue was decreased (P=0.00,t=12 349.0),and it became positively correlated with the serum HBV DNA load(P=0.007,r=0.251) and its negative correlation with the hepatic inflammatory activity and fibrosis was weakened.Conclusion After the serum HBeAg turned negative,other antigenic components of HBV may still maintain the adequately active immune status within the hepatic tis sue of organisms.After the serum HBeAg turned negative,the expression intensity of HBcAg within the hepatic tissue was de creased and became positively correlated with the serum HBV DNA,while its negative correlation with the hepatic inflammatory activity grade and fibrosis stagings was weakened.
7.The intervention-therapeutic effect of lipiodol-arsenic trioxide emulsion for primary hepatic carcinoma

Objective To discuss the short-term clinical effect including functional change of lipiodol- arsenic trioxide emulsion on the primary hepatic carcinoma.Methods Fifty-two patients undergone arterial chemoemblization were selected and then randomly divided into two groups:treatment group(n=27)and control group(n=25).Patients in treatment group were treated with lipiodol-arsenic trioxide,while those in control group treated with mitomycin,epirubicin,cisplatin or lipiodol.Clinical symptoms and six liver function parameters were observed and analized.Results The clinical symptoms of patients in treatment group improved much better than those in control group,and the liver function impairment of patients in treatment group also decreased more than those in control group.Conclusions Lipiodol-arsenic trioxide is an effective and safe intervention-therapeutic embolization material for primary hepatic carcinoma.

Objective To observe the effect of tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α) on islet cell apoptosis and TXNIP expression.Methods INS-1 cells were cultured in vitro, treating with TNF-α(0, 1, 5, 10 and 20 mg/L).We tested the effect of TNF-αon cell viability by CCK-8.INS-1 cells were treated with TNF-α( 5 mg/L, 24 h) for the proper concentration and incubation time; mRNA expression of TXNIP and ChREBP were measured by real-time PCR;in addition, protein levels of TXNIP , ChREBP and FOXO1 were analyzed by Western blot .Results TNF-αdecreased the survival rate of INS-1 cells in a dose-dependent manner ( P<0.05 ) , and induced apoptosis;protein and mRNA expression of TXNIP and ChREBP were significantly higher than that in control group ( P<0.05 );while the expression of protein level of FOXO 1 was down-regulated .Conclusions TNF-αinduces apoptosis in INS-1 cells and aggravates the cells damage .
9.Effect of Xiaopi prescription (消痞方) on mRNA expression of c-kit in the rat with diabetic gastroparesis

Objective To investigate the possible role of interstitial cell of Cajal (ICE)in the pathogenesis of diabetic gastroparesis and the protective effect of"Xiaopi prescription (消痞方)".Methods Fifty healthy male Spregue-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 5 groups (each n=10):normal, model,and 3 Xiaopi prescription groups:low,middle and high dosages.Diabetes was induced by intravenous injection of alloxan,and equal amount of normal saline was intravenously injected in the normal group.Gastric lavage method was used to administer the traditional Chinese medicine decoction of Xiaopi prescription in corresponding amount (5,10 and 20 g?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)) in respective low,middle and high dosage groups.In the normal control group and diabetic model group,only equal amount of normal saline was administered into the stomach.Gastric emptying rate was measured by method of nutritious semisolid paste;c-kit positive cells of ICC were quantitatively measured with immunohistochemistry assay and computer image analysis system;c-kit mRNA positive cells were quantitatively measured with in situ hybridization and computer image analysis system.Results①Gastric emptying rate:The rate was significantly lower in the model group than that in the normal control group (P0.05),but higher than those in the model group and the low dosage group (all P0.05).②c-kit immmunohistochemistry:c-kit positive cell presented yellow in color,and its membrane was stained yellow,this kind of cells primarily were distributed around the neural plexus in the inter-space between the circular and longitudinal muscular fibers, and around the ganglionic cells forming"sheath-like"structure.The results of numbers of c-kit positive cells in the various groups:the number of the cells in the model group was significantly lower than that in the normal group (P0.05),but the numbers in the former two dosage groups were obviously higher than those in the model group (all P0.05),being significantly lower than that in the normal group,middle and high dosage groups (all P0.05),but obviously higher than those in the model group (all P0.05),being significantly lower than that in the normal,middle and high dosage groups (all P
10.Efficacy and Safety Profile of Combining Sorafenib with Chemotherapy in Patients with HER2-Negative Advanced Breast Cancer: A Meta-analysis.

PURPOSE: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining sorafenib with chemotherapy in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative advanced breast cancer. METHODS: MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, American Society for Clinical Oncology abstracts, and European Society for Medical Oncology abstracts were searched. Randomized clinical trials that compared the efficacy and safety of sorafenib plus chemotherapy in patients with HER2-negative advanced breast cancer with placebo plus chemotherapy were eligible. The endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), time to progression (TTP), duration of response (DOR), overall response rate (ORR), clinical benefits, and adverse effects. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.2.6 (The Nordic Cochrane Centre), and the fixed-effect model weighted by the Mantel-Haenszel method was used. When considerable heterogeneity was found (p<0.1), further analysis (subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, or random-effect model) was performed to identify the potential cause. The results are expressed as hazard ratios or risk ratios, with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: The final analysis included four trials comprising 844 patients. The results revealed longer PFS and TTP, and higher ORR and clinical benefit rates in patients receiving sorafenib combined with chemotherapy compared to those receiving chemotherapy and placebo. OS and DOR were similar in the two groups. Meanwhile, the incidence of some adverse effects, including hand-foot skin reaction/hand-foot syndrome, diarrhea, rash, and hypertension, were significantly higher in the sorafenib arm. CONCLUSION: Sorafenib combined with chemotherapy may prolong PFS and TTP. This treatment was associated with manageable toxicities, but frequent dose interruptions and reductions were required.
