OBJECTIVETo explore incidence rate, influencing factors, leakage routes, and preventative measures of bone cement leakages in vertebral internal reinforcement operation including percutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty.
METHODSFrom January 2010 to January 2012,94 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fracture, vertebral metastases and vertebral hemangioma were treated by vertebral internal reinforcement operation. Among them, there were 39 males and 55 females aged 55 to 86 with an average of 69.4 years old. The reasons, types, incidence and complications of bone cement leakage were analyzed.
RESULTSTotally 21 patients (26 vertebral) occurred bone cement leakage, the main routes included basivertebral veins, and bone cortex, which mainly located on adjacent intervertebrae and around vertebral body, and most of them were asymptomatic leakage. For the treatment of OVCFs, incidence of bone cement leakage in PKP was lower than that of PVP (P < 0.05), while incidince of PVP in treating vertebral metastases was worse than in treating OVCFs (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONBone cement leakage is a common complication in PVP and PKP. Careful analysis before operation, cautiously monitors and grasp operation indication in operation can decrease incidence of it.

To give the considerations on the syndrome differentiation and acupuncture treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, generalize its pathogenesis and summarize treatment rules, this paper reviews and analyzed 52 articles on acupuncture treatment in recent years. It is believed that diabetic peripheral neuropathy is rooted from qi-yin deficiency and presented with blood stasis and collateral obstruction; many organs are affected, the liver, kidney, spleen and stomach in particular; the treatment principle concentrates on unblocking collaterals and regulating organs; treatment centers on limb acupoints, Back-Shu point and Front-Mu point;acupuncture treatment should be adopted early as possible and its clinical efficacy is rather good.

Forty-two patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) were refered to 3 groups:type 2 DM without diabetic nephropathy (DN),type 2 DM with DN in the initial stage and type 2 DM with DN in the clinical stage.Ten healthy subjects were served as control group.Plasma adrenomedullin (ADM),urinary?_1- microglobulin (MG) and?_2-MG were detected. The results showed that the level of plasma ADM rose gradually with the development of DN and was positively correlated with markers of tubulointerstiial injury such as urinary?_1- MG and?_2-MG (both P

Objective To learn the present status of defluoridation water improvement project in Shanxi province in order to provide scientific basis for speeding up the prevention and control of endemic fluorosis. Methods According to "The National Technical Scheme for Endemic Disease Control" from 2005 to 2009, the investigation points were selected in the counties that implemented the measures of water improvement and defluoridation, the status of drinking water defluoridation Project was investigated, and the water fluoride levels were determined by fluoride selective ion electrode. Results The primary status was surveyed in 1658 water improvement and defluoridation projects in 51 counties. The resource of drinking water for water improvement and defluoridation projects was mostly ground water[accounting for 93.12% (1544/1658)]. Among 1658 water improvement and defluoridation projects 1405 projects worked well(accounting for 84.74%) and 190 projects intermittently worked (accounting for 11.46%). Sixty three projects abandoned (accounting for 3.80%), in Datong basin the abandoned projects accounted for 36.36% (12/33). Water fluoride content of 1595 water improvement and defluoridation projects had been determined, among them water fluoride content of 874 projects were above 1.0 mg/L (accounting for 54.80%). The situations of exceeded national standard in the five basins was different(H = 33.22,P < 0.01). The rate of over national standard of fluoride levels in drinking water was 88.37%(38/43) in Datong basin. Therefore, in Datong basin water improvement should be strengthened. Conclusions In Shanxi province the water improvement and defluoridation projects are basically running normally. However, the qualified rate is lower for the water improvement and defluoridation projects. The water improvement status varies dramatically among areas. The situation is still grim in Shanxi province. Water improvement and defluoridation needs to be strengthened to improve the effect of prevention and control of the disease.

Objective To explore the success rate and the risk of establishment of the acute myocardial infarction model between the beagle dogs and the mini-pigs by interventional technique ,further to provid theoretical basis for choose a more suitable animal model .Methods 6 dogs and 6 mini-pigs were anaesthetized ,then underwent the coronary arteriography via femoral artery .After is-chemic preconditioning the coronary balloon was inflated to occlude the middle left anterior descending coronary for 180 minutes . The electrocardiogram was examined throughout the operation and the pathological sections were examined until the animals were executed one week later .Results All beagle dogs survived ,while 1 case of mini-pigs dead(1/6) .There was 1 cases(1/6) of beagle dogs had acute myocardial infarction ,while 5(5/6)cases in mini-pigs .All mini-pigs had malignant arrhythmia(6/6) but never seen in beagle dogs .The time needed for building a model was similar between the two groups ,the difference had no statistical signifi-cance(P>0 .05) .Conclusion The risk of establish myocardial infarction model in mini-pigs is higher than beagle dogs ,but the suc-cess rate is still high ,it might be the better choice .

Objective To summarize the first 16 eases in mainland China and to discuss the cli-nical experience of robot-assisted laparoseopie radical prostateetomy(RLRP). Methods Sixteen pa-tients with localized prostate carcinoma underwent RLRP with da Vinci S surgical system (Intuitive Surgical Inc.). The age of the patients was 62-76 years, average 69 years. The preoperative t-PSA level was 0.2-79. 2. Ng/ml. The volume of prostate was 9.8-232.9 ml. Fifteen patients were with biopsy-proven prostate cancer, the average Gleason score was 7(4-9). Three were T2a. N0 M0, 4 were T2b N0 M0 and 8 were T2c N0/M0 by clinical stage. One was prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm-Ⅲ. The level of t-PSA in serum and the result of urinary continence were followed up after RLRP. Results All the operations were accomplished successfully. The mean preoperative set-up time of the da Vinci surgical system was 64(60--90)min;the mean operation time was 236(190--390)rain;the mean esti-mated blood loss was 231(50-500)m.L The patients were ambulant between the 2nd and 3rd postop-erative days. Foley catheter was sueeeasfully removed on day 10 to 14, and mean hospital stay was 13 (6-19) days. Two eases had positive surgical margins, the pathological stages were both pT3b N0 M0. The average serum t-PSA was less than 0. 1 ng/ml during a median follow-up of 9(6-12) months. By the conventional definition of urinary continence (0 to 1 pads daily), 94%(15/16) and 100% (16/16)of patients were continent at 3 and 6 months, respectively. Of the patients, 75% (12/16)and 88% (14/16)had no urinary leakage(0 pads daily). Conclusions RLRP is small incision and safe. It is the direction of minimally invasive urologic surgery.
