Nowadays more and more attention has been paid to the problems about housing and health in China. Some investigations showed that people spent almost fourteen hours in their homes every day so the houses become the major places of daily activities. It is very important to solve the problems of what is the relation between the housing and health and how the housing influences the health of the people living in it. In the present paper the author summarized the overseas and domestic researches on the housing and health and pointed out that the research on housing and health in China is just in the preliminary phase.

Objective To observe the hemodynamic effects of open-loop target controlled infusion (OLTCI) and closed-loop target controlled infusion (CLTCI) of propofol and fentanyl for general anesthesia induction. Methods Twenty-four female patients with ASA grade I-II who were performed thyroidectomy were randomly allocated into two groups: OLTCI group and CLTCI group(n=12). In OLTCI group, anesthesia induction and maintenance were performed with propofol and fentanyl at the target concentrations of 3 ?g/mL and 3 ng/mL, respectively. In CLTCI group, double CLTCI were performed. Titrations of propofol and fentanyl were guided with bispectral index (BIS) and product of systolic pressure and heart rate (HR). Initiative concentrations of this closed-loop system were 3 ?g/mL and 3 ng/mL, step-up or step-down concentrations were 0.5 ?g/mL and 0.5 ng/mL, and the highest concentrations were 6 ?g/mL and 5 ng/mL, respectively. HR, mean arterial pressure (MAP), HR variability, BIS value and the dosages of propofol and fentanyl in various time of the two groups were recorded. Results One min after intubation and simulative incision stimulation, BIS value of both groups were increased, but the BIS value in CLTCI group was less increased than OLTCI group(P

Objective To explore the effect of gastrodia elata on learning and memory abilities and synaptic transmission protein(P38,Ca2+ -CaMK Ⅱ α,CREB)expression of hippocampus in model rats with Alzheimer's disease(AD).Methods 24 adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group,test group and intervention group.A dose of Aβ1-40 was injected into the hippocampus of rats on test group and intervention group,the control rats were injected with normal saline.When the models were successful,the rats of control group and test groups were given with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(50g/kg),the rats of intervention group were given with gastrodia elata powder( 50 g/kg),lasting 15 days,Morris water maze test was used for learning and memory abilities study.The expression of P38,Ca2+-CaMK Ⅱ α and CREB protein were detected by immunohistochemistry method.Results Behavioral tests showed the mean escape latencies and search time of test group were obviously increased than those of control group and intervention group,the percentage of search distance on test groups was less than that of control group and intervention group(P ＜ 0.01 ).Immunohistochemistry results showed P38,Ca2+- CaMK Ⅱ α and CREB positive cells and optical density in hippocampus CA1 on test group were less than those of control group and intervention group ( all P ＜ 0.01 ) ( P38:58.92 ± 10.82,0.208 ± 0.037 ; Ca2+-CaMK Ⅱ α:72.38 ± 14.67,0.174 ± 0.036 ; CREB:53.86 ±5.31,0.161 ±0.043 in test group;P38:87.32 ±9.56,0.371 ±0.046 ; Ca2+ -CaMK Ⅱ α:98.16 ± 16.29,0.283 ± 0.051 ; CREB:86.76 ± 7.73,0.356 ± 0.052 in intervention group; P38:102.54 ± 16.73,0.563 ± 0.078 ; Ca2 + -CaMK Ⅱ α:123.46 ± 17.65,0.436 ± 0.057 ; CREB:125.43 ±9.16,0.524 ± 0.057 in control group ).Conclusion Gastrodia elata can treat AD by increasing expression of P38,Ca2 + -CaMK Ⅱ α and CREB.

The major goal of microbial ecology is to study the structure and function of complex micro-bial communities. New molecular biological techniques have been successfully applied to analyze mi-crobial community structure. However they do not provide information on the physiologic properties of the detected microorganisms. A new tool for structure-function analyses in microbial ecology, micro-autoradiography combined with fluorescence in situ hybridization (MAR-FISH) can be used to simul-taneously examine the phylogenetic identity and the specific activity of microorganisms within a com-plex microbial community at a single-cell level. This article reviews the principle, experimental steps of MAR-FISH technique. The application of this technique in study of the environmental microbial com-munity and function is also summarized.

Objective To investigate the relationship between transfusion transmitted virus (TTV)infection and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia,the effect of TTV infection on the liver function, and analyse the feature of nucleotide sequences in TTV ORF1.Methods Serum TTV DNA,which were from 58 neonates with high direct bilirubin(DB,including 5 with hepatitis Syndrome),92 ones with high indirect bilirubin(IB),and 85 normal ones,was detected using a nested polymerase chain reaction technique(nPCR),electropherosis and sequence analyse,and serum alanine amniotransferase (ALT)was determined in all neonates.Results In DB neonates,TTV DNA were detected in 7 neo- nates(12.1%,including 3 neonates with hepatitis syndrome);in IB and normal ones,1 neonate had positive TTV DNA(1.1% and 1.25),respectively.Even if there were point mutations in Guangdong's TTV,the homology of Guangdong's TTV(GD1-9)and Japanese TTV(N22)ranged from 87.1%～97.8% at nucleotide level.Conclusion TTV infection may be one of important pathogenesis resulting in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and liver damage in such patients.Guangdong's and Japanese TTV isolates had the same genotype,some gene mutations maybe increase the pathogenicity in TTV.

ObjectiveTo compare the difference of X ray projection volume and operative time when using two different positioning methods in percutaneous kyphoplasty to treat elderly osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF) patients.MethodsSixty-eight(75 vertebraes) patients who underwent percutaneous kyphoplasty were divided into two groups,34 cases(39 vertebraes) underwent self-made fluoremeter (group A) comparing with the other 34 patients (36 vertebraes ) without using locator (group B).X ray projection volume,operation time and recovery of exterior edge height were compared.ResultsDuring locating the puncture point,the X ray projection volume in group A [( 196.92 ± 10.93)mA·s]was significantly less than that in group B [(826.67 ± 25.89 ) mA·s](P ＜ 0.05 ).The operation time in group A[(30.82 ±0.56) min]was significantly less than that in group B [(56.08 ±0.93) min](P＜ 0.05).The recovery of exterior edge height at 3 months after operation had no significant difference between two groups [(2.47 ± 0.18 ) mm vs.(2.09 ± 0.21 ) mm](P ＞ 0.05 ).ConclusionsThe self-made fluoremeter can save operation time and reduce the X ray projection volume.It is an effective way to treat OVCF patients undergoing percutaneous kyphoplasty.
