Objective To explore the effects of recombinant human hormone(rhGH) on the plasma total protein,plasma albmin,healing of Wound surfaces in patients with the second degree burns wound.Methods 38 pa- tients with the second degree burns wound were divided into treatment group and control group randomly.All the patients were subject general.19 patients in the treatment group were given rhGH in a dose of 0.2U/kg for 14 days beginning from postoperative 5 days.The plasma total protein concentration,plasma albumin concentration,healing rat of wound surface and scar of patients of the two group were compared.Results The plasma total protein concen- tration plasma albumin concentration of the treatment group were significantly in creased,the scar hyperplasia of the treatment group were significantly mitigated and the healing time of wound surfaces of the treatment group were sig- nificantly shortened.Conclusion rhGH is found to promote protein anabotism and shorten the healing time of wound surfaces and mitigate the scar hyperplasia patients with the second degree burns wound.
2.Pancreatic Panniculitis Associated with Acinar Cell Carcinoma of the Pancreas: A Case Report.

Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare type of disorder associated with pancreatic diseases. We describe here a case of 54-year-old man who was admitted to the Department of Dermatology with the diagnosis of erythema nodosum. The patient presented with a 9-month history of painful erythematous nodules on the extremities, joint pain and swelling, and weight loss. A highly elevated level of pancreatic lipase was found on the laboratory examinations. The biopsy specimens from the skin lesions showed subcutaneous fat necrosis. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed a large mass with central necrosis in the body and tail of the pancreas. Distal pancreatectomy, splenectomy and partial transverse colectomy were successfully performed on day 17 of the hospitalization. The histopathologic findings supported the diagnosis of acinar cell carcinoma of the pancreas (ACCP). Postoperatively, the level of serum lipase returned to normal, and the skin lesions and joint manifestations gradually regressed. However, the swelling did not significantly resolve in the left knee. In view of the non-specific clinical presentation of this disease, clinicians should be alert and have a high index of suspicion for pancreatic panniculitis.

3.Coexistence of Pancreatic Carcinoma and Pancreatic Tuberculosis: Case Report.

Pancreatic tuberculosis (TB) is extremely rare and mimics pancreatic carcinoma both clinically and radiologically. This paper discusses the occurrence of 2 heterogeneous masses located in the head and tail of the pancreas in an adult male. In this patient, laparotomy was performed because of the high suspicion of pancreatic carcinoma. Intraoperative fine needle aspiration biopsy revealed the coexistence of pancreatic carcinoma with pancreatic TB, and a combined resection of the distal pancreas and spleen was successfully performed. Following surgery, the patient received standard chemotherapy for TB. At 7-month follow-up, computed tomography showed resolution of the mass in the pancreatic head. Clinicians must maintain a high index of suspicion for pancreatic TB in patients with pancreatic masses. The coexistence of malignancy and TB should be considered when patients present with multiple pancreatic masses.

4.Role of PERK/eIF2a signaling pathway in hepatocyte apoptosis of alcoholic liver injury rats.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the role of PERK/eIF2alpha signaling pathway in hepatocyte apoptosis of alcoholic liver injury rats.
METHODSRat models with ethanol-induced liver injury were successfully developed by gastric gavage with ethanol-corn oil mixtures for 12 weeks. At different time points (4, 6, 10, 12 week), liver pathology was dynamically observed. The hepatocyte apoptosis was quantitatively analyzed by Annexin V-FITC/PI double-labeled flow cytometry, the serum total homocysteine (tHCY) level was detected by ELISA and the expressions of eIF2a, p-eIF2a, GRP78/Bip, GRP94, caspase-3 and caspase-12 in liver were examined using Real-time PCR and Western blot.
RESULTSTypical acute liver injury and chronic liver injury were observed at week 4 and week 12 respectively. The hepatocyte apoptosis rates in 6-week model rats significantly increased compared with normal rats (P value less than 0.05), and the degree of hepatocyte apoptosis continued to increase with the modeling time, and the percentages of early and total apoptosis reached 26% and 29% at week 12. From week 6 to week 12, the serum tHCY levels in model rats were obviously higher than in normal rats (P value less than 0.01). Since week 4, eIF2a protein phosphorylation in model rat livers remarkably elevated compared with that in normal rat livers (P value less than 0.01), and at week 12 the peIF2a protein expression in model rat livers increased by 2.81-fold. Since week 4 the expressions of GRP78/Bip, GRP94, caspase-12 and caspase-3 mRNA and protein in model rat livers showed a significant increase as compared to normal rat livers, and at week 12, these gene and protein levels increased 4.70, 12.95, 3.83, 4.05 fold and 3.93, 6.93, 9.88, 3.31 fold, respectively (P value less than 0.01).
CONCLUSIONActivation of PERK/eIF2a signaling pathway contributes to the occurrence and development of hepatocyte apoptosis in alcoholic liver injury rats and it might be as a potential target for therapeutic applications in alcoholic liver diseases.

5.Chromium content in erythrocytes serving as the exposure biomarker for workers exposed to soluble chromate.

OBJECTIVETo explore biological exposure markers, we investigated the chromium content in peripheral erythrocytes from occupational population with broad ranges of soluble chromate exposure, as the candidate biomarker may provide the scientific evidence for health risk assessment in occupational chromate-exposed population.
METHODSA cross-sectional study was conducted in chromate exposed workers employed at a chromate factory in a district of Jinan city, Shandong Province. The studied population contained 114 workers from different processes of the chromate plants, which included 74 males and 40 females, with an age range from 25 to 52 years old, averaging at (35.83 +/- 6.14) years old; the length of service was ranging from 1 year to 37 years, an average of (14.20 +/- 6.77) years. In addition, 30 farmers in the countryside one hundred kilometers away from the factory, without exposure to chromate matched with exposed subjects by age, gender and smoking status were identified as a control group, which included 22 men and 8 women, with age ranging from 25 years old to 47 years old, having an average age of (36.13 +/- 6.17) years old. Personal information on age, chromate exposure, medical history, smoking habit and alcohol consumption was obtained at an interview. The air concentration of personal exposure was determined by individual sampling for 8 hours per day as shift work, and chromium was assayed by atomic absorption spectrometry. The chromium content in the erythrocytes from peripheral blood was determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The potential plasma reduction capacity was determined by dibenzene anthracoamid dihydrazide spectrophotometry. The content of total vitamin C and reductive ascorbic acid were determined by 2, 4-dinitrobenzene hydrazine. The data were analyzed by SPSS10.0 software for statistical significance.
RESULTS(1) The results showed that the chromium levels in erythrocytes in the exposed group [(15.79 +/- 31.01) microg/L] were significantly higher than those in the control group [(3.21 +/- 2.20) microg/L] (P < 0.01). (2) There existed a dose-response relationship between the personal airborne chromate concentration and the chromium content in erythrocytes. As airborne chromate concentration lowered to 106.00 microg/m(3), the chromium content in erythrocytes increased, depending on the air concentration of chromate. (3) Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between airborne chromate concentration and the chromium content in erythrocytes (P < 0.01). (4) In multiple regression analysis, it was found that the potential plasma reduction capacity and reductive ascorbic acid may be a good indicator for oxidative stress produced by chromate exposure and be used to evaluate the effects on intracellular uptake of chromium (VI).
CONCLUSIONOur findings suggested that the chromium content in erythrocytes should be used as an effective exposed biomarker in the risk assessment for occupational chromate-exposure.

7.Efficacy comparison between 2 methods of laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the outcomes after 2 methods of laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).
METHODSFrom December 2009 to June 2011, 21 patients with T2DM underwent laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB, n=11), and laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass (LMGB, n=10). Clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULTSThe clinical complete remission rate of T2DM was 64%(7/11) in LRYGB group, and 60%(6/10) in LMGB group. The clinical partial remission rate of T2DM was 36%(4/11) in LRYGB group, and 40%(4/10) in the LMGB group. There was no significant difference between the two groups(both P>0.05). The levels of BMI, waist circumference, HOMA-IR and HbA1c within the postoperative 6 months were improved in each group (all P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups(all P>0.05). There were no conversion or perioperative deaths in both groups. Compared to LMGB, the LRYGB group had longer operative time[(147.0±35.9) min vs. (110.5±39.7) min, P=0.038] and postoperative hospital stay [(8.9±2.3) d vs. (7.1±1.4) d, P=0.046). One patient suffered from ileus in LRYGB group, one patient suffered from reflux esophagitis and one suffered chronic diarrhea in LMGB group. The incidence of postoperative complication was similar between the two groups(P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONLRYGB and LMGB may result in satisfactory and safe effects for the treatment of T2DM, while the LMGB is simpler and associates with quicker recovery.

8.Aiyu Capsules or Fufang Banmao Capsules combined with icotinib hydrochloride in the treatment of advanced NSCLC

AIM To explore the curative effects,adverse events,effects on immunity function and cost-effectiveness of Aiyu Capsules (Cremastrae pseudobulbus,Solanum lyratum,Angelicae sinensis Radix,etc.) or Fufang Banmao Capsules (Mylabris,Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma,Astragali Radix,etc.) combined with icotinib hydrochloride in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC).METHODS One hundred and sixty patients with advanced NSCLC were randomly divided into three groups.The patients in icotinib hydrochloride group (n =80) took icotinib hydrochloride,125 mg each time,three times a day;the patients in Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group or Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were treated with Aiyu Capsules (40 cases,three pills each time,three times a day) or Fufang Banmao Capsules (40 cases,one pill each time,three times a day) combined with icotinib hydrochloride (125 mg each time,three times a day),respectively.Curative effects,adverse events,serum tumor markers,dendritic cell subsets and cost-effectiveness among the three groups were compared.RESULTS Eight weeks after the treatment,effective rates in the Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group (82.50%) and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group (97.5%) were significantly higher than that in the icotinib hydrochloride group (73.5%) (P < 0.05).Six-month survival rates in the icotinib hydrochloride group,Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were 93.7%,97.5% and 97.5%,respectively;one-year survival rates in the three groups were 53.7%,72.5% and 75.0%,respectively;two-year survival rates in the three groups were 20.0%,37.5% and 40.0%,respectively.One-year,two-year survival rates in the Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were significantly higher than those in the icotinib hydrochloride group (P < 0.05).Myeloid dendritic cell (mDC) subsets' increases (d8week-d1) in the Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were significantly higher than that in the icotinib hydrochloride group (P < 0.05).There was no statistical significance in plasmacytoid dendritic cell (pDC) subsets' change among the three groups (P > 0.05).Changes of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA),cytokeratin-19-fragment (CYFRA21-1),neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in the Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were higher than those in the icotinib hydrochloride group (P < 0.05).Treatment costs in the Aiyu Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group and Fufang Banmao Capsules + icotinib hydrochloride group were significantly lower than that in the icotinib hydrochloride group (P < 0.05).No obvious statistical difference in adverse events was found among the three groups (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION The curative effects and cost-effectiveness of Aiyu Capsules or Fufang Banmao Capsules combined with icotinib hydrochloride are better than those of icotinib hydrochloride alone in the treatment of advanced NSCLC.

OBJECTIVETo study the proportion and mechanism of relieving asthma of drug partnership comprising herbal Ephedrae & Pheretima.
METHODTo study relaxant effect on 10 micromol x L(-1) carbachol (CCh) and 10 micromol x L(-1) histamine (His) precontracted isolated tracheal rings and lowering effect on short-circuit current (Isc) increase induced by 10 micromol x L(-1) CCh with 3 proportions of 1:1, 1:3, 1:9 extract.
RESULT1:3 proportions dose-dependently relaxed CCh-precontracted isolated tracheal rings, IC50 of 1:1, 1:3 is 7.5, 15 mg x mL(-1) respectively, 1:9 could not produce 50% inhibition effect on CCh-evoked contraction; 3 proportions also dose-dependently relaxed His-precontracted isolated tracheal rings, IC50 of 1:9, 1:3 and 1:1 is 0.19, 0.61, 1.8 mg x mL(-1) respectively. On the other hand,the orders potency of the decrease effect on CCh-evoked short circuit current increase is 1:3 > 1:1 > 1:9. The difference is not significant (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONHerbal Ephedrae & Pheretima had tracheal muscle relaxant and epithelium ion secretion inhibition effect, its mechanism of relieving asthma involved anti-CCh and anti-His effect 1:3 was the most appropriate dosage ratio in the anti-asthmatic drug partnership.
