1.CT Findings of Solitary Fibrous Tumors of the Pleura
Journal of Practical Radiology 2001;0(05):-
Objective To study the CT appearances of solitary fibrous tumors of pleura,in order to improve the knowledge of this diseases. Methods CT findings of solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura proved by pathology in 6 cases were retrospectively analysed with literatures review. Results 6 cases of solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura were all seen in the right thoracic cavity. The tumor was about 3 cm in maximum diameter in one case, and the other 5 cases, the tumors were over 9 cm in maximum diameter. On plain CT scans, all tumors were smooth at edge and with wide base connected to the pleura, the density of tumors were homogeneous in 4 cases, the CT values were 28~39 HU,in the other 2 cases, the tumors were unhomogeneous slightly with low density inside the tumors,CT value of the tumors were 12~40 HU.On contrast-enhanced CT scans in 4 cases,3 tumors showed moderated enhancement and distort vessels could be seen, the CT value were 44~52 HU,the lesions enhanced increasing 12 HU,1 case was obviously unhomogeneous enhancement, the lesions enhanced increasing 22~50 HU and "Pseudo-capsules" were demonstrated in 3 cases. Conclusion Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura has certain CT characteristics.
2.Cystic Expansile Lesions of the Jaw:Differential Diagnosis with CT
Journal of Practical Radiology 1992;0(11):-
Objective To analyse CT features of cystic expansile lesions of the jaw. Methods CT features of 23 cystic expansile lesions of the jaw in 22 patients were retrospectively studied, the configuration and structure of the lesions were observed. Results There were ondontogenic cysts(n=11)including radicular cyst(n=3),dentigerous cyst(n=4)and keratotic cyst(n=5),ameloblastomas(n=6),ondontogenic adenomatoid tumor(n=1),cemento-ossifying fibroma(n=2)and firbrous dysplasia(n=2).The ondontogenic cysts were mainly unilocular in shape with distinct sclerosing margin, most of them contained teeth.Ameloblastomas mainly appeared as multilocular or lobulated in shape and markedly expanded growth with disruption of the adjacent cortex;cemento-ossifying fibroma and fibrous dysplasia were mainly solid tumors, ossifying fibromas often associated with calcification. Conclusion Plain CT scan is of important value in diagnosing cystic expansile lesions of the jaw preoperatively.
3.The advancement of microRNA regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cholangiocarcinoma
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2017;30(6):665-668
Cholangiocarcinoma is a highly malignant tumor which originates from bile duct epithelial cells, and its invasion and metastasis is an important factor affecting the prognosis of patients and the main causes of the high mortality.Epithelial-mesenchymal transition is a reversible biological process of transition from epithelial phenotype to stromal cell phenotype, which is closely related to tumor invasion and metastasis. The microRNA is an endogenous non-coding RNA with a sequence of 20~25 nucleotides, which participates in the occurrence and development of tumor, especially in the progress of tumor invasion and metastasis by complementary base pairing with the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of the target gene at the post-transcriptional level.Herein, we present the mechanism of microRNA regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition and its effect on the invasion and metastasis of cholangiocarcinoma.

BACKGROUND:Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) can inhibit lipid peroxidation after rat brain injury. However, the trend of 5-lipoxygenaseis (5-LOX) and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) in model of Parkinson’s disease, and whether CAPE protects against rotenone-induced cel ular injuries by inhibiting the levels of 5-LOX and CysLTs stil need further research.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the protective effect of CAPE on the rotenone-induced Parkinson-like injury, and to determine whether 5-LOX involved.
METHODS:(1) PC12 cel s in good-growth were col ected and divided into five groups cultured with different concentrations of rotenone (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10μmol/L). 24 and 48 hours later, changes of cel ular morphology and activity were observed to single out the optimum concentration of rotenone;at 24 hours, the levels of 5-LOX and CysLTs were detected by western blotting and ELISA, respectively. (2) PC12 cel s were pretreated with different concentrations of CAPE (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 μmol/L) for 30 minutes, and 1 μmol/L rotenone was then added. The other cel s received no intervention as blank control group. Subsequently, the cel activity was detected, and the CysLTs production was detected by ELISA at 24 hours.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Rotenone (0.1-10μmol/L) could induce PC12 cel injury with overt morphological and cel activity changes at 24 hours, especial y the 1 μmol/L rotenone. (2) Rotenone also significantly increased the 5-LOX expression and CysLTs production in a concentration-dependant manner. (3) CAPE (1-10μmo/L) significantly attenuated rotenone-induced CysLTs production and cel viability reduction in a concentration-dependant manner. (4) These results suggest that CAPE protects against PC12 cel injuries in the model rat with Parkinson’s disease induced by rotenone involving 5-Lox.

Objective To assess clinical efficacy of comprehensive treatment on chronic sinusitises (CRS) with neutro?phils infiltration and eosinophilic infiltration as pathological features. Methods A total of 256 CRS patients whose symp?toms were not been improved after surgery (visual analog scale>6,3 months after surgery) were included in this study. Dif?ferent comprehensive treatments were given to the patients according to the different types of cell infiltration. The visual ana?log scale (VAS), Lund-Kennedy and nasal histopathological examination were observed after treatment in patients. Results After different comprehensive treatments, the VAS and Lund-Kennedy were improved in patients with eosinophils infiltra?tion, but the number of eosinophils was not reduced. The VAS, Lund-Kennedy and the number of neutrophils were signifi?cantly improved in patients with mainly neutrophils infiltration. Conclusion According to different immune pathological characteristics, patients of CRS should be given different comprehensive treatments. There is a obvious efficacy for patients with neutrophil infiltration.
