Objective To compare operative and non-operative treatments for intraarticular fractures of distal radius by meta-analysis. Methods The literature which had been published in English or Chinese from 1988 to 2008 on comparison between operative and non-operative treatments of intraartieular fractures of distal radius were searched for on line.Three Chinese papers and 2 English ones were eligibly included in this meta-analysis.The clinical data of the 5 papers were collected for comparing wrist function, reduction on X-rays,complications and patient's satisfaction. Results Operative treatment resulted in better reduction on X-rays,better wrist function and fewer complications but lower patient's satisfaetion than non-operative treatment. Conclusion The operative treatment should be recommended for intraarticular fractures of distal radius, but meanwhile the needs and expectations of the patient should be also addressed.

Objective Monkey B virus(BV), also known as Cercopithecine herpesvirus 1,is an important zoonotic pathogen.According to the national standard, antibodies are detected using BV as an antigen. However, the preparation of BV antigen is very stricted due to biosafety issues. Therefore, in this study, we used alternative antigens to detect the BV antibody by serological assay and verified their specifity and sensitivity. Methods A total of 135 blood samples from rhesus monkeys were tested by two ELISA method (BV and HVP2) and enzyme immunosorbent assay (EIA)method. The positive and suspicious samples were verified by immuno-fluorescence assay (IFA), Western blot and immunoblotting technique using HSV-1 gC1 purified glycoprotein as an antigen. Results The positive rates of HVP2-ELISA, BV-ELISA and HSV-1-EIA were 32.6%, 37.8% and 34.8%, respectively.Consistant result of the three detection method accounted for 91.1% (123/135), and the positive result were confirmed by IFA And WB.There were 12 suspicious samples,in which 33.3% (4/12) were verified to be positive. Conclusions Compared with BV antigen, the sensitivity and specificity of the alternative antigen HSV-1 are moe close than HVP2.Positive and suspicious samples should be verified by several method to avoid missed detection.

In order to search for a new pathway to improve the yield of ginseng through growing at the full sun shine accompanied by salicylic acid (SA), the net photosynthetic rate (P(n)), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), malondialdehyde (MDA) in Panax ginseng leaves, and the content of ginsenosides in roots were compared under various concentrations of SA and full sun shine with the traditional shade shed. Under the full sun shine, 0.05, 0.2 mmol x L(-1) SA increased net photosynthetic rate to a great extent. Under the cloudy day, the average net photosynthetic rate increased by 127.8% and 155.0% over the traditional shade shed, 13.9% and 27.5% over the treatment without SA respectively; under the clear day, 23.5% and 30.4% over the traditional shade shed, 8.6% and 14.6% over the treatment without SA, particularly obvious in the morning and late afternoon. With such concentration, SA increased activities of SOD, CAT, POD, and decreased the contents of the MDA. This difference resulted from different light intensity, rise of light saturation point, and fall of compensation point. Full sun shine decreased ginsenosides contents, but with SA, the ginsenosides regained, the content of Rg1 and Re, Rb1, total six types of ginsenosides in SA 0.2 mmol x L(-1) group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05) and other groups. The application of 0.2 mmol x L(-1) SA under full sun shine during a short time has little threat to the P. ginseng in spring, and could enhance the resistance to the adversity, which would improve the yield of ginseng heavily.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2004;21(z1):37-38
Direct hemoperfusion (DHP) with an adsorbent column using polymyxin B-immobilized polystyrene beads has been used to investigate the changes of hemorheology in rabbits with endotoxemia. We measured whole blood viscosity and hemotocrit before and after DHP with polymyxin B-immobilized polystyrene beads. Reduction in blood endotoxin concentration by DHP therapy positively correlated with improvement in hemorheological indexs. Our findings indicate that the amelioration in hemorheology was related directly to endotoxin removal by the adsorbent column with polymyxin B-immobilize polystyrene beads. So DHP with polymyxin B-immobilized polystyrene beads seems to be an important therapeutic strategy for endotoxemia.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinicopathological features of testicular malignant Leydig cell tumor (TMLCT) and improve the non-invasive diagnosis of the disease.
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data on a case of TMLCT, detected the circulating tumor cells (CTC) in the peripheral venous blood, and reviewed the related literature.
RESULTSThe patient, a 47-year-old male, underwent radical orchidoepididymectomy under general anesthesia. Postoperative pathology confirmed the lesion to be TMLCT, which was mainly composed of Leydig cells and suspected with vessel carcinoma embolus. Immunohistochemistry showed the tumor cells to be positive for α-inhibin, Ki67, CD30, vimentin, EMA, and PLAP, but negative for CK, CK7, S100, CD10, SMA, Des, AFP, hCG, CEA, CK19, CD117, Oct-4, LCA, CD20, Pax-5, CD3, and CD43. Two CTCs were detected in the peripheral venous blood. The patient received 3 courses of chemotherapy for retroperitoneal multiple lymph nodes metastasis post-operatively. Subsequent CT imaging manifested no obvious reduction of the retroperitoneal lymph nodes and consequently the patient again underwent retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy and cryoablation. At 8 months after treatment, CT examination revealed notably enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes with the right adrenal gland evidently invaded.
CONCLUSIONTMLCT is an extremely rare sex-gonad stromal tumor with high malignancy and poor prognosis, and CTCs may be used for its early diagnosis and prognostic prediction.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(7):645-649
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of Myosin VI and Disabled-2 (Dab2) in the cochlea of mice at different ages.
METHOD:
Forty KM mice were divided into four groups according to age, named as postnatal 2 week (P2w), P5w, P9w, P16month. The localization of protein in the basilar membrane of mice cochlea was detected by immunofluorescence staining and laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM). The mRNA expression level of protein in cochlear at different ages was evaluated by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Statistical analysis was performed by the SPSS18.0 software.
RESULT:
Myosin VI and Disabled-2 protein mainly expressed at the apical cytoplasm of hair cells. As for the inner hair cell, Dab2 labeling was abundant especially at the cuticular plate and nearby. Comparing four immunofluorescence staining images of Myosin VI, we found the fluorescence intensity of P2w and P16m were weaker than that of P5w and P9w. After setting P9w as the control group, qRT-PCR revealed that the mRNA expression of MyosinVI and Dab2 in P2w was less than that in the control group (P < 0.01), while no significant difference was found between P5w and the control group, nor between P16m and the control group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Myosin VI and Dab2, two proteins which regulated the clathrin-mediated endocytosis, expressed at hair cells of mice cochlea. In the inner hair cell, this process of endocytosis may be more efficient at the cuticular plate and nearby. The expression level of protein may change in different ages, and this probably leads to a difference of CME, it also may cause a defect of inner hair cells function.
