OBJECTIVETo explore the application of sinusitis mixture (SM) in endoscopic sinussurgery, thereby improving clinical curative rate of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps.

METHODSA totalof 50 chronic sinusitis patients were equally assigned to the experimental group (nasal douching by SM)and the control group (nasal douching by Compound Sodium Chloride Injection). Mucosa tissue 0.1 cmbefore natural opening was collected before surgery, at week 4, 12, and 24 after surgery. Changes ofmucosa cilia cells, goblet cells, stroma of mucosal membrane, inflammatory cells, and mucous glandwere observed. The numbers of goblet cells in the upper epithelia and ciliated cells, as well as their ratioswere calculated.

RESULTSThere was statistical difference in cavity cleaning time, cavity mucosal epithelization time, numbers of goblet cells in the upper epithelia and ciliated cells, as well as their ratio between the two groups (t = -2.342, -2.015, -2.145, respectively; P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSM could effectively promote and accelerate cleaning and mucosal epithelization of functional endoscopic sinus surgery, and significantly promote mucosal ciliary structure and function recovery of ostium-meatus nasicomplex.

The effect of plant growth regulator forchlorfenuron (CPPU) 1 x 10(-6), 0.67 x 10(-6), 0.5 x 10(-6) on fruit morphology and effective components lignans was studied. Those morphologies were the combination of four basic morphological changes. The result showed, diametre were increased and longitudinal diametre of fruits were inhibited by foliage fertilizers including CPPU. At the same time, 1 000-grain weight and yield showed the varying degrees increase under CPPU. The order of the degree was 0.5 x 10(-6) > 1 x 10(-6) > 0.67 x 10(-6). Six lignans content of Schisandra chinensis of different harvest time and different CPPU processing groups were determined, the results showed that lignans accumulation occurred mainly in periods of premature the half mature fruiting stages. Under the 0.67 x 10(-6) CPPU treatment, schisandrol B, schisandrin B, schisandrin C content of S. chinensis showed different increase.

BackgroundThe meibomian gland carcinoma is an eyelid malignant tumor with a domestic incidence after basal cell carcinoma.Meibomian gland carcinoma is not sensitive to radiation therapy and chemotherapy,and the related factors with its recurrence and metastasis are rarely reported.ObjectiveThis study was to investigate the clinical and pathologic features of meibomian gland carcinoma with multiple operations and the effectiveness of histologically controlled excision.MethodsThe clinical data and the histopathologic sections of 34 cases of the meibomian gland carcinoma diagnosed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center in September 2003 to April 2011,and the treating effectiveness of histologically controlled excision was evaluated. ResultsIn this group of cases,the appearing rate of the meibomian gland carcinoma was resemble in both lateral eyes.A higher morbidity was on the upper eyelid (26/34,76.5％) and then the lower eyelids (5/34,14.7％ ) and both (3/34,8.8％).The average ages of these cases were 57.5 years old.Sixteen of 21 misdiagnosed cases were identified as chalazion at the first visit,and no histopathological examination was performed in 11 cases after initial operation.Twenty-six cases(76.5％ )were identified as meibomian gland carcinoma in initial histopathologic diagnosis.Two cases had histologically controlled excision and 16 cases had simple excision while 16 cases had chalazion enucleation in the first operation.All the patients had histologically controlled excision in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center with 58.8％ of the patients having pagetoid invasion.Sixteen cases were followed up for 5 months to 8 years after histologically controlled excision,in which none died of recurrence and metastasis of meibomian gland carcinoma.No significant differences were found in the pathological feature between 16 lost patients and 18 followed-up patients(P ＞ 0.05 ).Conclusions Misdiagnosis of meibomian gland as chalazion is a main cause of repeat operations of meibomian gland carcinoma.Histologically controlled excision is a feasible therapy for the recurrence and metastasis of meibomian gland carcinoma.

Background Cellular autophagy is a non-apoptosis death form of tumor tissue.Research determined that arsenie trioxide (As2O3) leads to apoptosis of tumor cells.But whether As2O3 induce autophagy of SO-Rb50 cells or not is unclear.Objective This study was to assess the effects of As2O3 on autophagy of SO-Rb50 cells.Methods As2O3 with the concentration of 0,0.5,1.0,2.0,4.0 μmol/L was used to treat the SO-Rb50 cell line for 48 hours,and the growth and proliferation of SO-Rb50 cells were detected using MTT assay (A570).pGFP-LC3,a marker of autophagy,was constructed to transfer SO-Rb50 cells,and the cells were then divided into RPMI-1640 culture group (untreated group),As2O3 + RPMI-1640 culture group (As2O3 treated group) and rapamycin culture group (positive control group).Autophagy of SO-Rb50 cells was examined by laser confocal microscope and monodansylcadaverine (MDC) influorescence staining,respectively,48 hours following cell culture.Ultrastructural features of autophagy were examined with transmission electron microscope (TEM).The percentage of autophagy positive cells in different concentrations of As2O3 treated groups was calculated with flow cytometer.Results The A570 values of SO-Rb50 cells were 2.194±0.066,1.841 ±0.213,1.035±0.046,0.374±0.042 and 0.167±0.019 in 0,0.5,1.0,2.0,4.0 μmol/L As2O3 treated groups,with a significant difference among these 5 groups(F=547.636,P＜0.05),and those of 0.5,1.0,2.0,4.0 μmol/L As2O3 treated groups were significantly reduced in comparison with untreated group (P =0.000).The positive granular spots for GFP-LC3 chimeric protein were seen to aggregate in autophagic vacuoles in the As2O3 treated group and positive control group,but diffuse cytoplasmic signal for GFP-LC3 was found in the untreated group.Normal ultrastructure of SO-Rb50 cells was exhibited in the untreated group,and many double-membrane-like bound vesicles and autlysosomes were documented in the As2O3 treated group and positive control group under the TEM.A lots of MDC fluorescence granule were found in the As2O3 treated group and positive control group rather than the untreated group.Flow cytometry showed that the percentages of SO-Rb50 cells were 0,15.6％,42.7％,57.9％,79.5％ and 89.0％ in the 0,0.5,1.0,2.0,4.0 μmol/L As2O3 groups and positive control group,respectively,showing a As2O3 concentration-dependent increase.Conclusions As2O3 can induce the autophagy of SO-Rb50 cells and inhibit the proliferation of SO-Rb50 cells.Autophagic response of SO-Rb50 cells appears prior to the nuclear change after exposed to As2O3.The degree of autophagy of SO-Rb50 cells is associated with As2O3 dose.

OBJECTIVETo search for the best program increasing clinical therapeutic effect on vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI) and to study the mechanism.

METHODSThe patients were randomly divided into an acupuncture plus massage group, an acupuncture group and a massage group. Their therapeutic effects were observed and compared. And transcranial Doppler (TCD) was used for detection of systolic flow velocity (Vs), enddiastolic peak flow velocity (Vd), mean peak flow (Vm) and pulsatility index (PI) before and after treatment.

RESULTSThe cured rate and the total effective rate in the acupuncture plus massage group were significantly higher than the acupuncture group and the massage group (P < 0.05). And there were significant differences in Vm, PI and DI in the left vertebral artery (LVA), the right vertebral artery (RVA) and the basilar artery (BA) before and after treatment (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture combined with massage can improve Vm, PI, DI of VA-BA and the clinical therapeutic effect on VBI as well. It is superior to the simple acupuncture therapy and simple massage therapy. At present, it is one of the best therapy for VBI.

The elucidation of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the halogenated silane was necessary for the production of silicon derivatives, especially for methylvinyldichlorosilane, due to the lack of the relevant reports. Isobaric VLE for the system methyldichlorosilane-dimethyldichlorosilane-benzene and isobaric VLE of the three binary systems were measured with a new pump-ebulliometer at the pressure of 101.325 kPa. These binary compositions of the equilibrium vapor were calculated according to the Q function of molar excess Gibbs energy by the indirect method and the resulted VLE data agreed well with the thermodynamic consistency. Moreover, the experimental data were correlated with the Wilson, NRTL, Margules and van Laar equations by means of the least-squares fit, the acquired optimal interaction parameters were fitted to experimental vapor-liquid equilibrium data for binary systems. The binary parameters of Wilson equation were also used to calculate the bubble point temperature and the vapor phase composition for the ternary mixtures without any additional adjustment. The predicted vapor-liquid equilibrium for the ternary system was in a good agreement with the experimental results. The VLE of binary and multilateral systems provided essential theory for the production of the halogenated silane.

OBJECTIVETo explore changes of Clara cell protein (CC16) and surfactant protein-D (SP-D) in the serum of patients with silicosis.

METHODThe concentrations of CC16 and SP-D were measured in the serum by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The subjects consisted of 30 healthy volunteers and 90 silica-exposed workers including silica-exposed group, the silicosis of suspects group (0(+)) and the silicosis phase I group, 30 subjects each groups.

RESULTSThe concentrations of CC16 in the serum was significantly decreased in silica-exposed workers compared to controls (P < 0.01); The concentrations of CC16 in the serum were higher in lifelong nonsmokers than the current smokers in control subjects (P < 0.05), but they were no differences between lifelong nonsmokers and current smokers of 90 silica-exposed workers. Compared with control subjects, the levels of SP-D in the serum of silicosis suspects (0(+)) and silicosis phase I groups were significantly elevated (P < 0.01, respectively), which were also higher than silica-exposed group (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01, respectively), Discriminant equations set by CC16 and SP-D were used in diagnosis of silicosis, and the rate of accuracy in healthy volunteers, the silica-exposed group and the silicosis phase I group were 86.7%, 86.7% and 76.7%, respectively, The total rate of correct classification hit 84.2%.

CONCLUSIONThe serum CC16 of long-term silica-exposed workers is decreased, and SP-D is increased gradually.
