1.Distribution and change of poor vision among school students aged 6-19 in Hainan Province, 2013-2020

Abstract: Objective To explore the regional, age and annual characteristics of distribution and variation trend of children and adolescents with poor vision in Hainan Province, and to provide a theoretical basis for the formulation of targeted and effective prevention and treatment strategies. Methods The eyesight monitoring data of 5 657 231 children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 from 17 cities and counties in Hainan Province from 2013 to 2020 were analyzed. Using the "Standard Logarithmic Vision Chart" (GB11533-2011) that complies with national standards for testing. Results The rate of poor vision among children and adolescents in Hainan Province increased significantly from 2013 to 2020, and the difference between the years was statistically significant (P<0.001). The total poor vision rate in the left eye increased 10.09% (32.79% to 42.88%), and that of severe poor vision rate increased 6.68%, while that of the right eye increased 9.80% (33.11% to 42.91%) and 6.49%. The poor vision rate was significantly higher in females than in males of same year (P<0.001), but the increase pattern was the same. In 2020, there were significant differences between the same age groups in different cities and counties and between different age groups in the same city and county (P<0.001), and they all tended to increase with age. The result of analyzing the distribution characteristics of the total poor vision rate of different age groups children in the eastern (Qionghai), southern (Sanya), western (Changjiang), northern (Haikou) and central (Dingan) cities showed that the regional rate difference was small at 6-7 years old, and then increased with the increase of age. The poor vision rate of Haikou City ranked the first in all age groups, and reached the highest at 17 years old, with 76.32% and 80.89% of total poor vision rate of left and right eyes respectively. Sanya City ranked second, Qionghai ranked third. The poor vision rate of Changjiang County was lower and the growth rate was slower according to age. Conclusions From 2013 to 2020, the total and severe poor vision rates in left and right eyes of children aged 6-19 in Hainan Province increased year by year, with the ascension range of female higher than that of male, and right eye higher than that of left eye. In the same year, the poor vision rate increase rapidly with age. It is recommended to further strengthen the daily intervention and management of key populations and special age groups to reduce the rate of low vision in children and adolescents.

?Smart phones as a symbol of the mobile Internet appears in college classroom, which is not only a challenge, but also a great opportunities of education information. This paper applied smart phones as the carrier of the Internet into ophthalmology classroom. Smart phones has a lot of features, such as rich teaching resources, diverse learning methods, flexible learning time, collating and recording capabilities and the timely, comprehensive and accurate teaching feedback so on, and could be used in case teaching and interactive teaching. The implementation of smart phones into ophthalmology classroom could inspire the learning enthusiasm of the students, enhance the quality of teaching, eventually improve teaching effects.
4.Comparative study of Buyang Huanwu Decoction and the different combinations of its ingredients on neurogenesis following ischemic stroke in rats.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) and the different combinations of its ingredients on neurogenesis following ischemic stroke in rats.
METHODSThe model rats of ischemic stroke was established by blocking cerebral media artery with electrocoagulation through craniectomy, and electric stimulation, given from 24 h after blocking, 2 h daily for 15 successive days. They were divided into four groups, Group A treated with saline, Group B treated with BYHWD, Group C treated with BYHWD but earthworm subtracted, and Group D treated with Danggui Buxue Decoction (DGBXD). The expression of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) in cerebral tissue was determined by immunohistochemical method.
RESULTSLarge amount of BrdU immunoreactive cells presented in the hippocampal region of rats in Group B and C, densely arranged, partial in cluster, with the figure significantly different to that in Group A (P < 0.01), and the amount in the ischemic side was significantly more than that in the opposite side (P < 0.05). While comparing between Group A and D, the amount of BrdU immunoreactive cells in the hippocampal region showed insignificant difference (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONBYHWD has a effect in promoting neurogenesis better than DGBXD.

5.Expression and significance of Toll-like receptor 2 in peripheral blood monocytes of rheumatoid arthritis patients

Objective To examine the expression of toll-like receptor 2(TLR2)in peripheral blood monocytes and explore its association with disease stages and clinical manifestations and to explore the patho- genesis of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Methods The expression of toll-like receptor 2 in peripheral blood monocytes from 47 RA patientis(27 in active stage and 20 in stable stage)and 18 normal individuals were de- tected by flowcytometry and RT-PCR.Results The expression of toll-like receptor 2 in peripheral blood monocytes in patients with active disease was significantly increased compared to non-active patients and nor- mal individuals,The expression was found to correlate with the Disease Active Score(DAS),serum C-reactive protein(CRP)level and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),but not correlate with rheumatoid factor (RF)and the anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(CCP)antibody.Conclusion The expression of toll-like recep- tor 2 in peripheral blood monocytes of patients with active RA is significantly increased.And the expression is correlated with disease activity index.The innate immune system is activated in patients with active disease. And the increased expression may promote the activities of monocytes.
7.Effect of triptolide on the expression of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 in lungs of experimental pulmonary hypertension.

OBJECTIVEIt has been shown that triptolide can attenuate pulmonary arterial hypertension in rats. This study was designed to investigate the therapeutic effect of triptolide on pulmonary hypertension in rats and possible mechanisms.
METHODSSixty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: normal control, model, continuous triptolide-treated, delayed triptolide-treated and two placebo groups for continuous and delayed fashions (n=10 each). The rats from the last 5 groups were injected with monocrotaline (MCT, 60 mg/kg) on day 7 after left pneumonectomy. The rats in the continuous triptolide-treated group received therapy from day 5 to 35 with triptolide (0.25 mg/kg intraperitoneally, every other day) and those in the delayed triptolide-treated received therapy with triptolide (0.20 mg/kg intraperitoneally, daily) from day 21 to 35 after operation. The hemodynamic parameters were detected by catheterization and the pathologic changes of small pulmonary arteries were evaluated by light microscopy 5 weeks post-operation. The expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) was assessed by immunohistochemistry and quantitative fluorescence PCR of relevant (MMP2 and MMP9) mRNAs.
RESULTSBy day 35 after operation, the mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP, 38.10+/-1.20 vs 16.70+/-1.16 mmHg)the ratio of right ventricle/left ventricle plus septum [RV/(LV+S), 62.45+/-5.28% vs 22.76 +/-3.01%] and the vessel obstructive scores (VOS, 1.736 +/-0.080 vs 0.000 +/-0.000) increased significantly in the Model group compared with those of the normal control group (P < 0.01). The expression of MMP2 and MMP9 and their mRNA expression in lung tissues obviously also elevated in the Model group (P < 0.05). The continuous and the delayed triptolide-treated groups had significantly lower mPAP (20.80+/-1.03 and 26.20+/-1.03 mmHg, respectively) and less right ventricular hypertrophy and pulmonary arterial neointimal formation compared with the model and the placebo groups. The two treated groups also demonstrated decreased expression of MMP2 and MMP9 and their mRNA expression in lung tissues. There were significant differences in mPAP, RV/(LV+S) and VOS between the two triptolide-treated groups.
CONCLUSIONSTriptolide attenuates the development of pulmonary hypertention and right ventricular hypertrophy and promotes regression of pulmonary arterial neointimal formation in pneumonectomized rats that received MCT, possibly through an inhibition of MMPs activity.

8.The measurement of proportion and function of regulatory T cells in unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion

Objective To investigate the proportion and function of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ regulatory T cells (CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr)in unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion(URSA).Methods(1)Proportion measurement:the proportion of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr cells in peripheral blood was measured by double-label flow cytometric analysis.The samples were taken from 15 URSA women,15 normal non-pregnancy women and 13 normal pregnancy women.(2)Function measurement:CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr ceils and CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ T ce]ls were extracted from peripheral blood lymphocytes by the microbeads separation.The purity of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr cells and CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ T cells was measured by flow cytometry.The growth inhibitory effect of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr cells on CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ T cells was assessed in vitro.Results The proportion of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr cells was decreased significantly in URSA women(6.9?1.8)% than that in normal non-pregnancy women[(10.8?1.1)%] (P0.05).Conclusion The results suggest that decrease in proportion and function of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ Tr cells may be associated with URSA.
9.Expression of excision repair cross-complementation gene in drug-resistant process of carboplatin administration in tongue squamous cell cancer (Tca8113).

OBJECTIVETo investigate the correlations between the resistant degree of Tca8113 agaist carboplatin and the expression of excision repair cross-complementation 1 (ERCC-1).
METHODSTca8113 cells were exposed in the carboplatin solutions of gradually increasing concentration. Cancer cells were divided into six experimental groups and a control group. In the course of culture, the half inhibitory concentration (IC(50)) of each groups were detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT). The expressions of ERCC-1 at mRNA and protein level were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting.
RESULTSWith the increase of drug resistance, the expression of ERCC-1 increased gradually at mRNA level (control group: 0.84 ± 0.06, group 1: 0.96 ± 0.06, group 2: 1.07 ± 0.11, group 3: 1.13 ± 0.09, group 4: 1.19 ± 0.08, group 5: 1.29 ± 0.07, group 6: 1.47 ± 0.08), values between neighboring or interval groups have significant differences (P < 0.05); the expression of ERCC-1 increased gradually at protein level (control group: 0.69 ± 0.05, group 1: 0.86 ± 0.04, group 2: 1.01 ± 0.04, group 3: 1.24 ± 0.09, group 4: 1.44 ± 0.14, group 5: 1.56 ± 0.19, group 6: 1.88 ± 0.22), values between neighboring or interval groups have significant differences (P < 0.05). The gradually increasing RT-PCR gray values were related to the gradually increasing IC(50) in all groups (r = 0.91, P < 0.01), and the gradually increasing western blotting gray values were also related to the gradually increasing IC(50) in all groups (r = 0.88, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSThe high expression of ERCC-1 may become an indicator of Tca8113 resisting carboplatin. This might provide a potential target to reverse tongue squamous cell cancer (Tca8113) that has resistance to carboplatin.

10.Studies on antiviral constituents in stems and leaves of Pithecellibium clypearia.

OBJECTIVETo study the antiviral constituents in the stems and leaves of Pithecellibium clypearia.
METHODThe constituents of P. clypearia were systematically separated with various chromatographic techniques in combination with antiviral activity monitoring. Their structures were elucidated by physical and chemical properties and spectral data.
RESULTSix compounds were isolated from P. clypearia and were identified as: tricetiflavan (5, 7, 3', 4', 5'-pentahydroxylflavan) (1), myricitrin (myricetin-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside) (2), quercitrin (quercetin-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside) (3), quereetin (4), methyl gallate (5) and gallic acid (6).
CONCLUSIONCompound 1 approximately 5 were obtained from this plant for the first time. Compound 4 was found to show an obvious anti-respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity.
