To study the pharmacokinetic effect of different combined administration with monarch drug Ziziphi Spinosae Semen on its main components in rats. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into Ziziphi Spinosae Semen group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis group, Ziziphi spinosae Semen-Salviae Miltiorrhize Radix et Rhizoma group and Zaoren Ansheng prescription group. After oral administration, HPLC was eluted with the mobile phase of acetonitrle-0.03% phosphate acid water in a gradient mode. The detection wavelength was 280 nm. The pharmacokinetic parameters of spinosin and ferulic acid were calculated by DAS 2. 0 software. Compared with Ziziphi Spinosae Semen group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma group showed a lower maximum plasma concentration (C(max)) and area under curve (AUC(0-t)) for spinosin and ferulic acid but higher clearance speed (CL/F); whereas the Zaoren Ansheng prescription group showed higher maximum plasma concentration (C(max)) and area under curve (AUC(0-t)) for spinosin and ferulic acid but lower clearance speed (CL/F). To evaluate the regulating effect of Buyang Huanwu decoction and its simple prescription (Naojian tablet) on CDK4/Cyclin D1 expression in hippocampus tissues of rats with cerebral ischemia, SD rats were divided into the sham-operation group, the model group, the Buyang Huanwu decoction group (ig, 3.15 g · kg⁻¹) and the simple prescription group (ig, 2.41 g · kg⁻¹). Each group was further divided into five subgroups based on time points after the administration, i. e. 1 d, 3 d, 7 d, 14 d and 28 d, respectively. CDK4/Cyclin D1 expressions of the group at different time points were examined by using immunohistochemistry and real-time qPCR. According to the results, the cerebral ischemia model group showed higher CDK4/Cyclin D1 expression than the sham-operation groups (P < 0.05), suggesting that the cell cycle signal pathway would be activated by the cerebral ischemic injury. Both Buyang Huanwu decoction and simple prescription groups showed significantly lower cyclin expression than the model group at 3 d, 7 d, 14 d, 28 d (P < 0.05), indicating both Buyang Huanwu decoction and its simple prescription could play the neuroprotective effect through the cell cycle signal pathway.

Objective To study the CT and MR imaging features of skull epidermoid cyst. Methods CT and MR findings of 4 cases of pathologically proved skull epidermoid cyst were analyzed and correlated with operative and pathologic reports.Results CT and MR appearances of skull epidermoid cyst were as follows:(1)crater-form or scalloping deossification with sclerotic border and fatty density focus was detected on CT.(2)The lesions were isointense to hypointense relative to normal white matter in T1-weighted image,prominent hyperintense in T_2-weighted image,mild to moderate hyperintense in diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI),and isointense to hypointense in apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) map on MR.Proton MRS revealed lactate(Lac)peaks at 1.3 ppm and amino acids(AAs)at 0.9 ppm. (3)No enhancement was found in substance region of all tumors on both enhanced CT and enhanced MR examinations.Conclusion CT and MR appearances of skull epidermoid cyst have unique features which are very helpful in the diagnosis of skull epidermoid cyst.

BACKGROUND:Macrophage migration inhibitory factor is involved in the process of a variety of diseases, and plays a very important role in the tumor, autoimmune diseases, inflammation, angiogenesis, fibrotic diseases and so on. These biological characteristics are similar to keloids. OBJECTIVE: To compare the distribution and number of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in normal skin, hypertrophic scar and keloid. METHODS: We colected 40 clinical pathological scar specimens after surgery, including 20 hypertrophic scars and 20 keloids. Another 10 samples of the normal skin were used as control group. Hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemistry staining were performed to test the expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in pathological scars and normal skin. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Macrophage migration inhibitory factor was positively expressed in the normal skin, hypertrophic scar and keloid, and the expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in keloid was significantly higher than that in hypertrophic scar and normal skin (P < 0.01). It means that the abnormal infiltration of macrophage migration inhibitory factor may be associated with the formation of keloid.

Objective To compare the postoperative complications rate of total mesorectal excision(TME) performed by laparoscopic and conventional laparotomy method in treatment of rectal cancer.Methods The clinical data of patients with rectal cancer treated by laparoscopic surgery(n=42) or traditional laparotomy(n=50) were retrospectively analysed to analysis of the cause and occurrence rate of complications.(Results) The laparoscopic group had an advantage over the conventional laparotomy group in bowel movement recovery,earlier mobility and short hospital stay time.There was no difference in intraoperative injury,(anastomotic) leakage,sexual function preservation,long-term urinary dysfunction,and local recurrence or(incision) metastasis rates.Conclusions Laparoscopic TME treatment of rectal cancer had the same therapeutic effect as the conventional laparotomy procedure did,and has a better subjective outcome.

Objective To investigate the relationship of the serum level of IL-23 and MMP-9 with the clinicopathologic features in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods 48 pathologically confirmed ESCC patients and 30 Endoscopic biopsy of benign were included in this study. The serum levels of IL-23 and MMP-9 were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results Serum IL-23 level in patients with ESCC was significantly higher than that in controls (t = 26.66, 16.89, P<0.05). Furthermore, Pearson′s correlation analysis revealed that serum IL-23 was positively correlated with the serum MMP-9 level in ESCC patients (r = 0.790, P < 0.05). Statistical analysis showed that enhanced serum IL-23 significantly correlated with the degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion Overexpression of IL-23 may involve in the occurrence and development of ESCC. IL-23 may contribute to tumorinvasion and metastasis by stimulating the expression of MMP-9.
